Listing highlights

Mountain and desert views

Soak up the views during your stay.
My place is appx. 60 miles south of Marfa near the Rio Grande, with views of the Chinati and Sierra Madre mountains. There is no physical address, GPS will get you lost, print directions listed and arrive before dark. The church next door is being restored, we are part of this effort, READ NEIGHBORHOOD DESCRIPTION.
You’ll love my place because of it's remoteness. My place is good for couples, families (with kids), and special events.
SWIMMING POOL is filled first week of May, drained Nov. 1st

The space
This is an historic building and property, adjacent to the old adobe catholic church. Being in the middle of the desert insects are the dominant species,
we have pest control come out regularly but learning to co-exist with them is helpful. Also be aware - IMPORTANT for those with pets and small children, many species of snakes live here, including rattlesnakes and other venomous reptiles, appearing especially at and after sunset. Other creatures of note are javelina and coyote, both are known to attack dogs and cats.

Guest access
The back building with 2 bedrooms and queen size beds is available for an additional fee, please inquire.

Other things to note
If my work schedule allows I can be available but do not count on it. Reading all the house rules and adhering to them is important, if you need to be waited on and have someone on call to answer all questions/needs, then this is not the place for you. There is no physical address, GPS will not be helpful in finding this place, print the directions I have listed and arrive before dark.
Please take all trash with you and leave in a town dumpster, there is no trash service in Ruidosa, any bags left coyotes will rip into.

Neighborhood highlights

Next door is the historic El Corazon Sagrado de la Iglesia de Jesus, a 100+ year old adobe church. It is currently under restoration, a several year project, and we have donated electric and water usage, plus some temporary housing for architects, engineers and volunteers. The volunteers will at times be in a separate building from this rental, the Padres' casa, in the yard behind the rental. They will be respectful of any rental guests, please allow them to conduct their work and they will in turn be mindful of your presence. Some scaffolding has been erected for the church along the boundary wall and the sounds of power tools, etc. may occur during business hours. You can contribute to this restoration effort by visiting ruidosachurch.org We are a 501(c)3, any support you provide is tax-deductible. Please help us to restore this historic structure and pardon our dust!

12 miles down the highway is the village of Candelaria, good for photo ops;
please be respectful of the residents, Sergio Pena and his son Rene sell firewood if you need some, (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) (no area code if dialing from house phone). Sergio's wife Dominga also sells delicious tamales.
The hill directly behind the house has the historic Ruidosa cemetery, it is a steep gravelly climb so be careful, also PLEASE do not walk on graves or disturb/take anything from here.
