Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
The Vine Cabin is a hand built snug insulated wooden cabin with woodburner, within sight and sound of the River Wreake where you can use our canoes . Sleeps up to 5 (2 in bunks), basic cooking facilities. Canoe building holidays by arrangement. The built in bunk can take 2 people ( increasing the capacity to 6, but they need to be friendly!!). Please bring sleeping bags for the built in bunk (the other beds have bedding provided)

The space
There is a double bed with a single bunk above, plus a single bed and a further built in bunk ( which can take 2 children) . Both the bunks are close to the ceiling and are accessible only if you are pretty agile. Please bring sleeping bags if you intend to use the built in bunk. There is a woodburning stove, and some firewood is provided. Additional firewood can be purchased at £5 /bag or you are welcome to bring your own ( provided it is dry)
Have a go in our canoes on the river which runs right by the property.
In the summer we offer Canoe Building Holidays by arrangement. ( see Birchcanoes)
In addition to the Vine Cabin we have another cabin ( very different from the Vine Cabin) plus a Yurt and a Tiny House Trailer, so you might well encounter other guests, although with 2.5 acres here, there's plenty of space.

Guest access
You will be able to use the canoes on our river. There is also a tree house close to the cabin, with a door at the bottom of the staircase. Please bolt this after use so parents can decide if they want their children to go up there. Children need to be supervised on the river and the tree house especially.
There is a "Futility Room" where you can use the washing machine and large tumble dryer, just leave £2 on each machine if you use it. There is an electric car charging point where we "currently charge" ( no pun intended) £5 for an overnight charge. All our electricity is from green sources ( wind power from the grid, plus 10kW solar array)

Other things to note
If you like basic accommodation in a rural setting, you will love it here.
However, if you are looking for Travelodge or Premier Inn, we are NOT it!!
You are welcome to use our canoes on the river here.
We have an electric vehicle charging point available ( currently £5 for an overnight charge)

Hi, we are John and Carole from Brooksby in Leicestershire in the very middle of England. We have 4 children and three grandchildren. We live by a quiet river, and love hosting visitors in our two home built cabins. We first discovered Airbnb has guests in Corfu, and have since been Airbnb guests in Paris, Turin and Hay on Wye. John runs canoe building holidays here. You may well see canoe building going on during your stay. "Seize the day" "Follow the evidence wherever it leads" "if you look for a happy person you will find them building a boat"
