John's wooden cabin was a pleasure to stay at. Located in a beautiful location, the cabin was very cosy and John has made excellent use of the space. We were only able to get to the cabin at 12am and John was very accommodating. We would thoroughly recommend taking one of the canoes down stream although I would advise that if your doing it in late November like we did that you dress appropriately!!
All in all we would recommend and we'd love to come back in summer and spend a little more time at this beautiful cabin and try the canoe building.
Just what we needed to make our visit to Leicester into a mini break. We were very comfortable in the wooden cabin and found the whole experience fun and just that little bit different.
We had a great time in John's cabin! There was a record storm blowing across the UK but we were snug and warm in the cabin. Unfortunately we didn't get to go for a canoe but next time we will!
The kids had a great time playing outside and in the treehouse! And feeding the goats! And close to lots of great attractions!
It was very relaxing - highly recommend - thanks again John!
John was a great host, offering a very peaceful place to stay and freedom to use his great home-made canoes whilst still being around if we needed anything. Very friendly, helpful and quick in responding to messages as we organised our stay. Beautiful spot to stay!
A lovely little cabin by the side of a river in quiet rural Leicestershire. John was a great host, and provided everything we needed, including the bonus of his hand-made canoes in the river next to the property.
The cabin was basic but had everything we needed, and provided a brilliant quiet getaway. There's a good pub (the Blue Bell) less than half an hour's walk away in Hoby which does good meals (but you might need to book on popular nights!).
Perfect for a quiet break, a far step above camping with a wonderful helpful host.
