  • The log cabin was adorable...that is until we found out we were sharing the place with a large family of mice!!!! I think what I find is disturbing is there were mouse traps in the house (with dead mice in them), so the owner knew it was a problem. Normally I don't write reviews, but after reading about the large outbreak of Hantavirus in the area and seeing all the signs in Yosemite park, it made me wonder if we were all putting our health at risk staying here. There were mouse droppings throughout the house, on the counter tops, under the couch and they got into our chips and trail mix on the counter and made a mess. We all spent most of our free time cleaning and chasing them around the house. When I contacted the owner about our concern he said he would call an exterminator the following week. Unfortunately, I do not feel he treated the problem with the severity it deserves, nor did he offer any compensation to us for the conditions we endured. I would not recommend staying here until he gets the mouse situation under control, it was completely insanitary.

  • My family spent a couple of nights in the cabin while visiting Yosemite and we had a wonderful time. The cabin was wonderful. It was very private and had all the luxuries that we needed and was exactly as expected. The Shanks family were great hosts and they went out of there way to make our experience a truly wonderful experience.

  • Place was beautiful! Just like it looks in the photos, the cabin was fantastic, comfortable, and pleasant. Tchukon was very helpful and friendly. Would absolutely stay again next time in the area.

  • We had a WONDERFUL stay at Tchukon's log cabin! This log cabin has the feel of a log cabin (in the most positive sense), but is equipped with luxurious amenities that made the stay really comfortable and special. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, the kitchen is fancy and practical, and the master bathroom alone is worth the stay. The drive to the Yosemite park valley is a bit long (1hr and 20 min or so), but it is a very scenic drive, so we didn't mind it at all. We would definitely come back!

  • Fantastic location, peaceful, at one with nature, saw deer, humming birds and lots of birds we did not know though info was available in cabin. Liked the BBQ and fire pit, used every day. Lots of info about the area and utilities in cabin, everything we needed was available. Possibly needs to be advertised as 1 .5 bathrooms though the full bathroom was huge. Really enjoyed our time there, would definitely recommend.

  • Tchukon's cabin is really fantastic - it is beautifully furnished and has all the mod cons you could think of and more. We visited Yosemite, which was about 90 mins drive away and there are plenty of charming restaurants in Mariposa nearby. One day we stayed in the cabin because it was pouring with rain and we were really comfortable in there - Tchukon left us really clear instructions on how to light the stove and there were plenty of interesting books and DVDs to keep us entertained. We would love to stay again.

  • Absolutely loved this cozy, quiet "cabin" for our two night stay! There was plenty of space for 4 adults, the kitchen was amply stocked with dishes/pans for cooking, and the beds were super comfortable - but the best part has to be the wrap-around porch with fire pit! We spent hours out there both nights. It's a short (20 minute) drive to two neighboring towns to get groceries (and check out Mariposa Coffee Company in the area if you need a caffeine fix!) and just under an hour into Yosemite. We would (and likely will) come back here to enjoy it again!

  • My roommates and I had the best time at Tchukon's cabin. It was clean, quiet, had all the amenities (great wifi, DirecTV, an incredible bathroom with dual shower head, and a fantastic kitchen!), and was in a great location. We were about an hour and fifteen minutes from Yosemite Valley, fifteen minutes from Mariposa, and the cabin itself had a beautiful yard that our dog just loved. Tchukon is an exceptional host - he greeted us upon arrival to show us how everything worked/where everything was, and gave us great restaurant recommendations. He was very responsive and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

  • We had a truly wonderful time at this cabin! We were looking for a quiet place in the woods to spend Christmas with our little family and this was a great spot to do it! Tchukon was great at answering all our questions and making sure we had everything we needed for our stay. He and his father even stopped by the first day to introduce themselves and check in!

The cabin is in great condition and the bathroom is newly remodeled, a rarity for a cabin in the woods! The wood stove provides all the heat you need, (but there is an additional heating unit and space heaters if you need them), the kitchen served us well to cook our Christmas dinner, and the leather chairs and couch were so comfortable our whole family just snuggled right in!

The cabin is located half way between Mariposa and Oakhurst, so finding a restaurant or grocery store is an easy 20 mins away. And of course you're right near Yosemite, so it was about an hour and a half to drive into the valley to see the sites there. Although there are other houses around, they aren't right next to you like most rentals, you actually have space here! This also allows for some possible wildlife sitings, we heard coyotes howling nearby and had a bobcat walk right passed the house one evening!! If you're looking for some quiet time in the woods, and a well appointed log cabin, I would highly recommend this place! Thanks to Tchukon for our wonderful stay!
