The space

This is the only fully self-contained unit at AIR — offering your own kitchen, living area, dedicated work zone, and ensuite bathroom.

Positioned on the upper level, the apartment floats above the river and bamboo forest. Floor-to-ceiling steel-frame windows wrap the space in light and natural airflow. Elevated above the ground, it stays bright, dry, and comfortable.

The workspace includes a large desk and a high-quality external monitor suited for photographers, filmmakers, writers, designers, and remote professionals. Fast Wi-Fi and air conditioning support long, focused sessions.

The bedroom features a double bed with subtle underlighting. The sofa converts into an additional sleeping option if needed.

Your private kitchen allows for real cooking — ideal for longer stays or content production. We’ve hosted guests writing books, editing films, and shooting cooking videos here.

While fully independent, you also have access to the 400 sqm open collaborative studio overlooking the rice paddies — used for exhibitions, production, shared dinners.

Guest access
During your stay, you have full access to your private apartment including your own private kitchen and pro workspace.

Shared spaces include a communal kitchen, outdoor areas, and a studio lounge where we occasionally host dinners or informal gatherings. The kitchen is fully available — we simply ask that you leave it clean after use.

If you require access to the larger art studio beyond the communal desk, please let us know in advance, particularly if you are working on a project that needs significant space. At times, resident artists may have reserved areas while preparing exhibitions. We coordinate access thoughtfully to ensure everyone can work comfortably.

The main studio focuses on embroidery, textiles, and watercolor. You may occasionally hear light machine activity during the day. It is an active, evolving creative environment.

There is also an outdoor bonfire area for relaxed evenings and conversation.

Please read carefully before booking.

Our residency is located at the end of a small alley beside the rice fields. The final 400–500 meters are accessible only by motorbike or on foot with light luggage. Cars cannot reach the property, and taxis will drop you a short walk away.

We recommend arranging arrival transport with us at least one week in advance for a smooth check-in.

We are surrounded by nature. Geckos, frogs, insects, and other tropical wildlife are part of the environment. This is forest living, not a hotel with 24-hour concierge service. Our team assists during working hours; outside of that, guests rely on the facilities provided.

Ubud is humid, particularly during rainy season. Some rooms include dehumidifiers, but humidity is part of the tropical climate.

AIR suits guests who appreciate nature, creative energy, and a more independent experience. If you prefer full hotel infrastructure and city-center access by car, another property may be a better fit.

We live near the property alongside Rudi and his Balinese family, who can assist with scooter rental and local insights.
