Lost River Modern was the perfect retreat. The cabin was fully furnished and stocked with everything you could want or need, and it became our home away from home for the weekend. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. I traveled to LRM with my husband, my sister and her boyfriend and the place was spacious enough for the four of us. Each couple had their own bedroom and bathroom on separate floors of the cabin, which allowed us to have a great amount of privacy. We spent the first night grilling and drinking wine on the deck. We also made use of the dutch tub, which takes a few hours to warm up so if you're planning on a night swim (soak) try to get that started as soon as you arrive. There are ample instructions in the Welcome Binder to help you out. The cabin supplied board games which also kept us occupied throughout the night. There were plenty of kitchen wares, appliances and cleaning supplies so no need to pack them with your belongings. Just be sure to do your grocery haul BEFORE the trip because there aren't any solid markets (Kerr's gas station your best bet for odds and ends/beer/wine) within 45 minutes- hour of the cabin. The second day we hiked up to the Cranny Crow Overlook at Lost River State Park . It was a moderate climb, about 2 hours total (up and down). More cooking, drinking and relaxing on night 2. On our way home we stopped at Harper's Ferry, which was along our route north back to Philly. It was a great stop for lunch and sightseeing, the Potomac River is very rich in American history. I would highly recommend LRM if you want a peaceful and relaxing getaway. My only advice is to stay longer than a weekend. Just as we were starting to feel the tension float away it was time to pack up and leave. Thanks for an amazing time!

Fantastic find - wonderful secluded location far from the madding crowds of New York and DC yet still a very easy drive from Washington DC. We loved the cabin, a very comfortable stay with lots of space and stunning floor to ceiling windows to really feel immersed in nature. Very convenient for hikes in the area. Sharon was the perfect host, great communication, easy check in and out, and super helpful when I realised I left an item behind, even offering to ship it to me in New York. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family. Thank you so much!

We enjoyed our stay at LRM. The host was very responsive and their directions to the property were good. Very short ride to Lost River State Park. Property was alone in the hill side making for a nice quiet retreat. As the posting notes, you are a good ride away from a store so bring anything you may think of. Some of the fixtures in the house are getting worn and need repair/updating, but nothing that would ruin your stay (i.e. some windows don't open, window in shower needs sill repaired)

We were looking to get away from, well, almost everything for a few days and this house was perfect. From the design to decor to a location this was everything we hoped. Sharon did a great job communicating all instructions so arriving and getting settled was a breeze. The house had everything we needed. We loved going outside at nigh and just looking up at the stars. It really peaceful. I would definitely recommend lostrivermodern if your looking to get away and relax.

Really lovely place. So quiet and peaceful. The description and photos are right on. Working with Sharon was easy, and it was a breeze to get into the place. An excellent place to get out of the city and enjoy the peace and quiet of the woods.
