If you are looking for a place where to enjoy the beautiful mood of Taormina and the relaxing atmosphere of a quiet surrounding with a breath taking view of the sea, we can offer the perfect accommodation.
The house is located on top of a hill facing the sea, 10-15 minutes walking (1km) from "Porta Messina" one of the two entrance arches to the city centre. The apartment consists of 3 bedrooms (2 double bedrooms - 1 with private bathroom and 1 double bedroom with bunk bed), 1 big bathroom with bath and a large living room with fully equipped kitchen. The apartment is provided with dish machine, washing machine, air conditioning, heating, Wi-Fii and TV in the living room. Bed linen, towels + the initial and final cleaning of the apartment are included. Free parking is readily available outside in front of the house.
Surrounded by the countryside with the typical Mediterranean vegetation, runners and walkers frequent the area.
Cafes, restaurants bars and grocery shops are in walking distance.
The owners, Francesco & Liliana are reliable, friendly, helpful, caring, funny and genuinely hospitable.
Very reasonably priced, we are completing the external front of the building (see photos), but inside the apartment is complete, confortable and new. Also please consider that to reach the house there is a steep uphill climb for about 150 meters, but the terrific view from the balcony definitely worth it.
It is also very quiet at night and there are few streetlights so, though considering this when coming back, you can surely enjoy sweet nights under a wonderful starry sky!!
Liliana and Francesco made us feel very welcome. They were kind, friendly and generous. We loved staying in this brand new, clean apartment and the view was amazing!
Francesco and Lilliana definitely deserve the title superhosts. On the first night due to our late arrival all restaurant were closed and we had no groceries. Francesco offered to call and order a pizza for us. Half an hour later he arrived with our pizza and a bottle of wine, but he went to the village to get it for us since it was too late for delivery, now that's what I call a superhost.
The apartment is tidy, comfortable and clean. The beds are comfortable, kitchen well equipped with espresso machine, kettle, microwave, oven, and blender.
For our 9 months old son, there was a high chair and a comfortable cot.
The apartment is located just above the city centre. It's a 15min walk to the centre of town. Yes, there is a steep part of it, but it's only a short part, and even us with a stroller could do it.
The places they've recommended to us were excellent places to eat.
We decided to alternate between eating out and in. The hosts were nearby, when needed, but also respected our privacy.
We would highly recommend staying with Francesco and Lilliana to anyone considering staying in Taormina.
Francesco and Liliane were very friendly and relaxed hosts and went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. This is an outstanding spacious apartment with amazing views of the sea and the coast below. The short climb up from the town is steep in parts but well worth the effort. I would thoroughly recommend. Taormina is a charming town and we regret that we did not have a longer stay to explore the coast and surrounding area. We did not have a car and did not feel the need for one.
Francesco was fantastic! He met us on the platform of the train station, then drove us up, up, up to the beautiful apartment overlooking the town and ocean. It was perfect! We highly recommend this apartment; spacious, comfortable, with a breathtaking view from the large balcony, overlooking the southern tip of mainland Italy.
Francesco and Liliana live with their little son in a beautiful part of Sicily; and they share that space with a spirit of great generosity. They were wonderful hosts and they are lovely people; kind, welcoming, friendly, communicating well (and both have excellent English). We were in town when a thunderstorm threatened to soak our nearly-dry laundry. Francesco sent me an sms to ask if he should take it in - when we arrived home we found it hung inside on a drying rack. Saved in the nick of time! How thoughtful! They made themselves available to give us great information about the things to do and see (and avoid) in the area. We asked for recommendations for restaurants and they were spot on. We asked for advice about visiting Monte Etna and we are glad we followed that advice.
The apartment has the most spectacular views. To get to those views there is an equally spectacular and steep drive. It was pretty scary the first time, but after that it was fine. So if you are driving, follow Francesco's advice and "use 1st gear", and follow my husband's advice and "gun it". Taormina is built on a series of cliffs, so there's no getting away from steep roads; it's part of the charm of the place. It's also Tourist Central; the main street is wall-to-wall visitors. The big advantage of living at this apartment is that you are away from the hurly-burly and after a day in and around the town it's glorious to return to the peace and quiet of the hill. We drove halfway into town each day and parked the car (Francesco can tell you where it's free to park all day) and then walked. This saved us the climb up the very steep road - but we are in our 60s, so if you're younger you may be fine as a mountain goat!
The apartment itself was spotlessly clean, spacious, comfortable, and very well fitted out with all the things you need for travel. My husband was thrilled to find an iron and ironing board; it's something we've rarely seen. (So he could do the ironing!)
Our visit was towards the end of 18 days in Sicily and 2 months in Europe, so we were a bit travel-weary. This apartment was a real haven for us and our stay with Francesco and Liliana was very special. Indeed, our stay in Taormina was one of the highlights of our journey. We highly recommend that you share the experience!
Francesco met us in Taormina and guided us to our apartment above his house. This is a very pleasant space, and a family would have ample room. Francesco & Lilliana live below and are very helpful. He provided an ice pack for a sore knee, when I asked about where to find one in town. The veranda is spacious and the view is amazing. The hill is quite steep, as advertised.
I am an electronic engineer and my wife Liliana is a researcher at the National Research Council.
We love freeclimbing (sicily has lot of wonderful cliffs), runnig, windsurfing, skiing and hope that our little son Samu will follow us in these passions.
We are happy to live in Taormina, one of the few place where you can wake up in the morning and then decide whether to go having windsurf at the see, or skiing in mountain etna, both reachable in few minutes
