Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Situated in a quiet woodsy neighborhood just one mile from downtown Fayetteville, The Red Roost is an easy 10-15 minute drive to the New River Gorge National Park & Preserve with its amazing suspension bridge, whitewater rafting outfitters, rock climbing access, and hiking and biking trails.

Remote work space available in Auxiliary Dwelling Unit "The Coop." Excellent Wi-Fi and private setting a few steps from main house make it perfect for getting work done in peace and quiet.

The space
The Red Roost offers great spaces for family gatherings. The outdoor settings are fabulous. There is a spacious porch that overlooks a gorgeous yard. We have two outdoor shower stalls (seasonally available). Auxiliary Dwelling Unit "The Coop." More intimately nestled into the woods, its beautiful windows and deck connect you even more to the outdoors. The Coop is bedroom #4 and can sleep two adults on futon below and one adult or two children in loft area above.

The kitchen flows openly into the living and dining areas to make conversations easy. The dining area connects to both a small screened porch and the wrap-around deck with outdoor dining and lounge areas. Wake up to birds chirping, then step outside with your coffee to greet them and watch bunnies and deer scurry across the lush 2 acre property. While the Red Roost is just up the hill from the downtown area of Fayetteville (voted one of the Coolest Small Towns in the USA), you feel like are all alone when sitting on the back porch. From the wrap-around porch, you can overlook the side yard with a stone circle fire pit. Chairs are available for gathering around an evening campfire (campfire wood available upon request for an additional fee), and a porch swing is located below on the lower deck.

The kitchen has all the appliances and supplies you will need to get going and to create great meals: coffee maker, coffee grinder, oven & stove, outdoor gas grill, dishwasher, disposal, crockpot, blender, pots, pans, baking supplies.

The Red Roost conveniently has a mudroom at the front of the house with a full-size washer and dryer to help keep you and your clothes clean after your adventures.

There are four spacious bedrooms, each perfect for a couple or a family. The main floor bedroom has a queen bed with memory foam mattress and a twin trundle underneath. There is a full bathroom off of the main floor bedroom. The upstairs houses two full bedrooms. The master has a king size bed, a children's sleeping loft and a sitting area. The second bedroom upstairs has a full-size bed with a children's sleeping loft. Both bedrooms have full closets for storing all of your clothes and adventure gear. There is a spacious bathroom at the top of the stairs with a shower/tub combination and views over the backyard.

The 4th bedroom is in the adorable " Coop." It is your chance to sleep in the woods and be completely cozy all at the same time. Beautiful windows connect you to the outdoors and a dedicated HVAC unit keeps the place dry and temperature controlled.

Neighborhood highlights

One of the "Coolest Small Towns" in the USA, Fayetteville doesn't disappoint. The Red Roost is just 0.7 miles from the "downtown" of this one-stop light business district, and if you're up for a hill climb on the way back it is a delightful walk getting there. Fayetteville serves as the gateway for the New River Gorge and all the outdoor adventures that await there. The Red Roost is just a short 8 minute drive to the Canyon Rim Visitor Center where you can take in the magnitude of the New River Gorge Bridge.

Fayetteville hosts wonderful coffee shops and breakfast joints (Vandal's, Cathedral, Kool Beanz) as well as an amazing pizza place (Pies & Pints), sandwich restaurant (Secret Sandwich Society) and an upscale place serving local fare (The Station). Ben Franklin is sort of a step back in time, but great for grabbing forgotten items, arts & crafts for kids or basic groceries.

Looking to whitewater raft the New River or Gauley River? Adventures on the Gorge (formerly known as Class VI) is just a 10 minute drive from the Red Roost.

Ready to send some routes? or maybe rock climb for the first time? or maybe just find a quiet trail? Waterstone Outdoor shop and New River Mountain Guides housed within (just a 3 minute drive from the Red Roost) await to prepare you with gear or guide you with instruction for any adventure you might be after.

Downtown Fayetteville is also home to 2 full-service bike shops with bike rentals: New River Bikes and Marathon Bicycle Company.

Arrowhead bike trails at Kaymoor top are a 8 minute drive from the property, and another great bike rental opportunity is on your way there at the Arrowhead Bike Farm.

Kula Yoga studio offers regular classes and private instruction for visiting guests. Sunday mornings in the summer, they offer outdoor classes on a deck overlooking the gorge at Adventures on the Gorge.

There is a great playground at the ballpark in Fayetteville and adjacent to the park lies the entrance to "Town Loop Trail" - the easiest entry point for New River Gorge area trails and a connector to many miles of trails.

Fayetteville has wonderful shopping (antiques, gifts, art, artisan jewelry, primitives) in the downtown area and beyond on Hwy 19 at Doves Village.

Kroger has the best selection of natural and organic options and is a 10 minute drive from the Red Roost in Oak Hill. Wal-Mart, CVS, Dollar Tree & Lowe's (along with lots of fast food options) are a short 10-minute drive from the Red Roost on Hwy 19.
