This is the place if you want to relax and see a Northern lights! A little log cottage with well equipped with own kitchen, showers and toilet. There is a double bed in the cottage and extra bed is available for request (max. 3 persons). Perfect for individual travelers, couples and little families.

The space
Takkatupa is well equipped with own kitchen, showers and toilet. We have a relaxed and cozy atmosphere and we really want that you enjoy on your holiday!
Our accommodation is located to our farm where we also live. Our house is built in the 1880s and you can feel the history when you come here. We saw this place and thought that this is the place where people can have an amazing holiday and new experiences.
Here you can enjoy of summer, spring, autumn and winter activities! What do you think about snowshoeing, ice-fishing and wondering in the snowy forest? Or watching amazing Northern Lights? Or picking up fresh berries, hiking, hunting and fishing? Our place is an excellent starting point for all of that and specially for watching a Northern lights, because we don't have light pollution here like in ski resorts.
Winters are dark and magical (polar night and northern lights), springs are times when birds are singing and ice is melting, summers are full of sunlight (midnight sun!) and autumns are painted with a beautiful colors. Feel the silence and enjoy of a beautiful nature.
Please observe that the faucet water in Finland is of high quality. You can safely drink water from the faucet.
Our place is situated in Kaukonen village of Kittilä – in northern Lapland (from Helsinki 943 km). Kaukonen is one of the oldest villages on the side of Ounasjoki river. Here lives about 350 people.
Nearest airport is located in Kittilä 20 km from the cottage. Airport Rovaniemi is from 136 km from the cottage. Levi and Ylläs Ski Resorts are both about 30 minutes drive away. Nearest grocery store are in Kittilä town center 20 km drive away from the cottage.
Hox! Please notice that sauna is not in use at all in winter 2025-2026. Normally sauna is available for extra charge 300 euro and only on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). You can not heat the sauna yourself, we will always heat it ready for you. It takes 5-6 hours to heat the sauna.

This beautiful place is situated in Kaukonen village of Kittilä – in northern Lapland (from Helsinki 943 km). Nearest airport is located in Kittilä 20 km from our place. It takes about 1 h 45 minutes to drive from Rovaniemi Airport to the cottage.
If you want to move from place to place easily, I recommend to rent a car.
Please notice that nearest grocery stores are in Kittilä town city (20 km from the cottage). Nearest cafe is in Särestöniemi Museum (12 km from the cottage).
There is a public transport, but it doesn't go very often. Bus stop is about 2 km from the cottage.
Earlier check-in or late check-out 10 euro/hour. Ask this option.
Please be kind and clean the cottage before you leave.
Accommodation is non-smoking. If signs or smells of smoking are discovered in accommodation, I reserve the right to collect a surcharge of 500 euros.
Upon check-out, the guest will make sure that the windows of the lodgings are closed and the doors closed. The guest whose name is on the reservation shall be liable for compensating, in full, for damages caused to the lodgings or its furnishings during their stay. I reserve the right to charge 300 euros, if a guests losts a key.
Please take care that the cottage is in the same condition as you got it. Fee for extra cleaning 200 euro.
