Dog guests must be house trained. Also, please don't leave your dogs alone, unattended in the house, when you go out.
I did not meet Summer but her texts were as charming as her beach cottage. My sister Dawn and I loved our stay. The pictures don't do this lovely space justice, it is even better than it looks! There are little gems of detail and art everywhere and it has a peaceful and joyful feeling. Thanks for all the love.
Fabulous stay in Summers beautiful house. We had a wonderful time, beautiful views of sea and as the weather was cold we have a lovely warm fire. Outdoor space lovely for morning coffee or evening sundowner. Very well equipped! Thanks for a wonderful stay and highly recommend.
We enjoyed our 5 night stay at Summer’s cottage. The house was clean and comfortable and has a nice backyard. Our most favorite part were the huge panoramic windows: what a view! We even saw a pod of dolphins while having breakfast! Summer was very easy to communicate with and she gave us a lot of helpful suggestions for our stay. The Summerland beach is in walking distance but, unfortunately, there was a lot of oil and tar in the sand while we were there.
Yes, unfortunately lately with the earthquake in Nepal and the Pele volcano erupting in Hawaii there has been a lot of turbulence in the oceans. Causing lots of debris to be washed up on all of the beaches. It is settling down already and hopefully very soon the beaches will be clean again
What a fantastic view from the panoramic window! The cottage has period charm. The sitting room with lovely views had such comfy seating and the dining table had a great position. The beds were comfortable and the garden lovely to relax in. The kitchen was well equipped. Summer was easy to contact and made us feel very welcome. Her suggestions for eating out were really nice. The stroll through Lookout Park to the beach was lovely. Unfortunately the beach was oily when we visited which was a shame. The freeway is between the cottage and the beach, which we expected but didn't find it troublesome. The Internet was very good. We would certainly recommend the cottage - it was a great spot to stop on our way from San Diego to San Francisco. We hope to be able to stay again. Thank you!
We had a fantastic time staying at Summer's cottage and I would highly recommend it to anyone who's interested in visiting the Santa Barbara area. We stayed for 5 nights in late April as a spring getaway from Chicago.
Summer was very prompt and professional when were were making our plans. She stocked the kitchen with breakfast items before we arrived, and the cottage was spotless. She has a wonderful eye for decorating and the cottage is filled with light, open, airy, and charming. It has all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. We didn't have any questions or problems while we were there.
We visited with our 2 1/2 year old and I am 8 months pregnant. All of us were more than comfortable and really enjoyed relaxing in the outdoor space in the back. You can hear the highway 101 from outside but this didn't bother us and the benefit is that it's an easy walk to the beach and to the charming Summerland Beach Cafe.
The location is fantastic. Summerland is a small town and more low-key than Santa Barbara. The nearby beach is not at all crowded and very scenic. There's a great playground for young kids at Lookout Park. The walk to the beach is too long for my son, so we used a stroller, but absolutely no problem even for me! Easy drive to Santa Barbara for groceries, restaurants, or the zoo and also easy to drive to another playground and state park in Carpenteria.
Charming Beach Cottage is the perfect description for this home. There are other words like quaint, cute, tastefully rustic...but bottom line...Everything was perfect for our group of four. The accommodations exceeded our expectations and the view of the ocean was spectacular. As I write this...a few hours before we check out and head back home, I am sitting in the back yard patio...looking out at the lawn, sipping coffee, and wishing I did not have to leave. I will definitely book this home again and again in our visits to Santa Barbara.
About the Host, Summer
I was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and have lived here in Summerland for over 30 years now. I love this area, the beach, the weather, all the great hikes, and being so close to the city of Santa Barbara, yet living in a small friendly community at the same time.
