Amazing location a couple of blocks from downtown Palo Alto and Stanford University. Super comfy bed with great view of cherry blossoms.
See my other room "Garden Room - Walking distance to Stanford" for more pictures.
Sweet room with dormer window looking out onto cherry blossom trees. Full size bed with new mattress, pillows and linens folds into a sofa when not in use. Freshly painted and decorated with original art. Stocked with a library about Palo Alto, the birthplace of Silicon Valley. Bath with two sinks, double shower, and separate toilet area. Room has lots of storage - six very large drawers one small closet and one storage closet.
The house is a charming remodeled Victorian five blocks from downtown Palo Alto University Avenue and a mile from Stanford University. It is a quiet residential neighborhood with an elementary school across the street. Easy street parking and extremely safe area.
I have a second room listed - "Garden room - walking distance to Stanford." Check it out for more pictures (and to consider all options :-).
Downtown Palo Alto with all of its coffee shops, restaurants, boutiques, high tech start-ups and venture capital offices is a 10 minute walk away in one direction. Town & Country shopping center with even more gorgeous browsing is 10 minutes walk in the other direction.
For those visiting Stanford University, the free shuttle stops at several nearby locations and we can easily get you oriented. I can also arrange a local bike rental (the preferred method for getting around Stanford given the scarcity of parking on campus.)
I have two kids, but they never seem to be around anymore as they are chock full of school, sports, and other activities. Jake, our 20 lb ball of cream fluff pretending to be a dog, keeps me company as I work from home in my artist studio. He is a rescue we have determined to be a "mutta-doodle" (we know he is part poodle and hypo-allergenic with hair vs. fur.)
If you are around for a couple of nights, I can arrange laundry access and some kitchen access. I can arrange for guest passes to a local gym and make reservations at the nearby massage spa. Also happy to be hired for airport pick-ups and drop-offs.
Hablo castellano (de Argentina). Je parle Francais aussi.
I have lived in Palo Alto since 1993, am very familiar with the area attractions, and more than happy to make suggestions for how to spend a free hour or half-day. I hope to make your visit as comfortable and fun as possible.
No smoking on the property.
Quiet Time is from 9pm-6:30am. Please have your phones on vibrate, use headphones for media and be quiet coming and going during these hours.
Late arrivals after 9pm: Please arrange to either take a key or have me leave a door unlocked for you. Once you have arrived, please turn off the porch light and lock the door behind you.
Daytime hours: If you would like to relax here during the day, please use your bedroom, the living room or front porch/yard. The kitchen/family room is reserved for family space and please respect the areas that are marked Private.
Meals/Kitchen: You are welcome to make yourself a cup of coffee and partake in the treats my son often bakes and sets out next to the coffee maker on the counter (the young chef’s welcomes contributions from those so inclined in his tip jar.)
We also offer breakfast or dinner for an additional fee by prior arrangement. Nothing fancy, but a hearty meal to keep you going. Also happy to put something in the fridge for you overnight.
Transportation: With some notice, I can usually arrange for a private car ride to or from the airport for $45 each way. I can also pick up or drop off from the local Caltrain station for $5 each way.
Bike rentals: $15/day for use of a hybrid bike (plus helmet and lock) will get you around town easily.
Laundry: I will change your linens once/week unless you ask for more frequent changes. I can also take care of personal laundry for $5/load to wash and dry. There is hamper in your room if you want to use it for this purpose.
I like Carina and her house very much. She is nice and has good taste of life. Treat people nice. Breakfast was awesome. Her puppy is cute! The best choice! :)
Lovely home, VERY welcoming host (thanks Carina!) and a very central and convenient location. Short walk to restaurants, the university, Caltrain station, etc! I will hope to stay here again on a future visit!
My stay was wonderful! Room is neat, clean and very comfortable. Location is perfect! It's only a short walk away from Stanford campus, train station and many restaurants and shops. Carina is very nice, easygoing and welcoming host. I highly recommend this place and will definitely stay again here, if I return to the area.
Carina's place is so nice! The room is as described and really comfy. I felt comfortable right away and safe! And Carina is so kind and helpful. I'd have stayed there longer but unfortunatly the room was already booked... The location is perfect: really convenient for me who's going to Stanford campus everyday, it is really close to University Ave and I felt really safe. Thank you so much, Carina! I wish I could have stayed longer...
Carina was a great host! Her place was clean, comfortable, and homey. The room is exactly as you see is the pictures. There is lots of closet space for your clothes & suitcase. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom is very clean. The shower height was good for me, but space might be tight for some on the taller side as the ceiling over the shower is at a slant. It's great that she has coffee and snacks in the kitchen. The house is walking distance to nice shops and restaurants. I walked to get food at night and I felt safe; the neighborhood feels very safe. It's also great the Carina has a neighbor whom is willing to give rides to her guests. Carina was great to talk with and helpful in giving suggestions on where to eat and things to see; she is really nice and hospitable. Julie, the house mascot, was fun to play with. I didn't see the two other guests, but I'm sure if I stayed longer I would have gotten to meet them. Everything so great. I'm definitely going to stay here again!
