Interaction with Guests
We are personable, easy going guys, happy to answer questions and give advice when needed. At the same time we are respectful of our guests privacy and realize they didn't come to SF to see us.
Diversity. That is the reason I have lived with in 2 blocks of Alamo Square Park for 21 of the 24 years I've lived in San Francisco. This neighborhood is a great mix of people of all colors and ages and the offerings reflect that. The Divisadero corridor (Divisadero from Haight to Golden Gate) is a vibrant street full of all kinds of shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and boutiques. Alamo Square Park itself is a world renowned land mark, beautiful all year round and home of the famous "Painted Ladies" Victorian homes. Yet this area does not have the feel of a "tourist trap" area.
The two closest bus lines (24 Divisadero and 5 Fulton, 2 blocks from our door) will get you to (or with in 1 or 2 blocks of) Union Square, Golden Gate Park, the Castro, Pacific Heights, The Civic Center, The Marina, Upper Filmore St., The De Young and Academy of Sciences museums, BART, the Asian Museum, Market Street, the Cable Car turn around (Powell St.), all the big name stores, etc.

We had a wonderful stay with Dough and Richard. The room was perfekt and so was the breakfast which was always provided in the morning. They were both really helpful and had a lot of suggestions regarding sight seeing and good restaurants. The neighborhood was safe and had a lot of great restaurants and bars close by and other parts of the city were in walking distance. We would highly recommend this room to anyone visiting San Francisco
We stayed at Doug and Richards for two nights to visit San Francisco. For us it was one of the first airbnbs and we felt absolutely comfortable in their lovely house. Their house is close to a lot of nice restaurants and bars and Alamo square. Bus lines can be reached in 5 minutes by foot which get you downtown (market street) in about 10 minutes. The room has a huge bed and awaited us with fresh water on our arrival. The shower is shared, but we didn't even notice that Doug and Richard were using it. We were also allowed to use the kitchen and garden as we wished. They have two super cute cats of which we mostly met Blu, which is adorable but can be challenging to force out of the room :D The breakfast provided to us was extremely delicious. We were offered fresh fruits, freshly baked muffins, cereals, yoghurt, milk, orange juice, fresh coffee... It was enough to perfectly start into the day! Doug and Richard are super nice guys who also loved to chat and give recommendations about what to see in San Francisco. Thanks to their help we could use the short time we had very effectively! This was way better than any hotel we could have got.
Doug and Richard were such wonderful hosts, I could not stop talking about how great our Airbnb experience was to my friends when we got back. The room was very clean, with fresh water and towels for us to use nicely folded, and the location was perfect. Safe neighborhood, easy to get around everywhere. They ever so kindly even had breakfast ready for us every morning, without any pressure to eat it all or anything at all. So sweet! Their cats, Zora and Blu, were SO cool. My friend and I honestly don't really like cats but Blu was seriously the coolest cat ever (Zora stayed outside mostly). It was like we were staying at a cute bed&breakfast that came with a pet! The bed was also super comfortable and kept us warm during the colder nights. Doug & Richard also have us good recommendations on places to eat, which we appreciated. Next time I come back to San Francosco I will DEFINITELY try to stay at Doug's again, such a great experience!!!
Doug and Richard were very friendly, easy-going and polite hosts and we really enjoyed our short stay in their apartment. A charming, spacious room, super comfy bed and bay window plus two delightful cats made for an all around awesome experience. The location is excellent, close to Golden Gate Park and plenty of bus stops-- getting around was a piece of cake, even after midnight. Despite the centrality, it was quiet and peaceful. They provided a generous continental breakfast, too. Overall we had a wonderful time and were sad to leave. Thanks again, guys!

About the Host, Doug
I am a fifty-one year old theatrical production manager. I have lived in San Francisco for the last 24 years, most of that time within 2 blocks of Alamo Square Park. I have worked at one of the city's most famous "attractions/institutions" for 19 years (Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon) where I am Associate Production Manager and Wardrobe Master. My partner, Richard, has lived here since 1998 (and a for a little while in the 80's). He is a hair stylist and colorist. We have been together since 1999. We are both serious foodies and wine enthusiasts and love to explore the culinary offerings of Northern CA. We love to interact with people, but respect boundries. We love music, art, theater, movies and our cats.
