Close to center and in a quiet area
The apartment has one bedroom with a queen size bed and a living room with a big sofa that comfortably sleeps two persons. It is in a nice quiet neighborhood and within 10 minute walking from center of town, the swimming pool or the mall :)
- The Space
In the very heart of Akureyri, yet in a very quiet and green neighborhood we rent out this nice apartment. It is a very popular in the summer and also the winter season because it is close to the ski resort in the mountains and the center of town as well.
We live upstairs so we can always help you.
THE APARTMENT has one bedroom, one living room, a kitchen and is very well equipped. It would be suited for 2-5 guests.
The bedroom has a queen size bed for 2 people, a closet and a night table. The living room has a sleeping couch, a radio, tv and a DVD player. In the well equipped kitchen there is a dining table, a microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine etc. for your self service. And the supermarket is nearby. The bathroom has a toilet and a shower. We provide free access to our wireless internet connection and a internet connected PC computer.
Outside there is a little sitting area in the garden and a gas barbecue. There is a private parking place and many other things.
THE AREA
The location is the best, it it peaceful even though it takes just five minutes to walk to the center, the public pool and the shopping mall.- Guest Access
Free Wi-Fi, Gas Barbeque, TV, Computer, Private parking and lots more, the apartment is fully equipped.
- Interaction with Guests
The guests have their own separate apartment so I generally leave them completely to themselves unless they want to come over and have a chat.
The house has two apartments one that we and our two children live in and then the guest apartment so you will be staying under the same roof as us but you can have all the privacy you want or you can get in contact with us if you wish.
- The Neighborhood
This is a relatively old neighborhood so it is very green with lots of trees. It is very quiet so instead of hearing traffic you will be hearing the birds sing through the day (and night actually during the summer)
- Getting around
No need for public transit, everything noteworthy is within walking distance but if you want to explore the bus in Akureyri is completely free !
- Other Things to Note
Even though we are small and only renting out one apartment in our house we have an operating licence for a guest apartment and we are proud to fully comply with the quality requirements issued by the Icelandic government.
I recommend catching a concert at a local venue "The Green Hat" if possible (website hidden)

Sigg was a great host. Apartment was clean, well-stocked, and in a great location. No problems at all! We didn't have some basics like olive oil, pepper, etc. to cook with, and he and his wife were very accommodating in helping us out. Thanks, guys!

Sigtryggur was wonderful in preparing us for our stay at his basement rental. He sent us a map for the easiest way to get to the place conquering the one way system around the house. He made some good recommendations for places to visit nearby. We actually missed him in person but were warmly welcomed by his wife. I had forgotten that there was no washing machine in our quarters, so she offered to do the laundry for us (and delivered everything all clean that same evening!). She also found out for us where best to go to see puffins, which was crucial as they had already started leaving the Icelandic waters. There was fruit, milk, cereal and yoghurt for breakfast in the morning. A nice, unexpected touch!
The apartment is situated in a quiet, pleasant neighborhood close to the town center. It is adequately equipped but we found that the wireless connection was unreliable. There was a computer though that had decent internet access. The sofa bed in the living room is ample for two persons and comfortable to sleep on. I also appreciated the good size kitchen table. Oh, and it was spotless when we came in.August 2013 -
we were very gratefull to Sigtryggur as at very short notice he arranged perfect accomodation for us. We were new in town, and new in driving in the deep snow that was suddenly upon us.
We arrived late in the dark, naturally, and they welcomed us and gave us somewher to put the car.
Sigtryggur even came down and shoveled the snow from the steps so we could get in and out.
