Welcome! Creekside is a Cape Cod style home overlooking a scenic pond. It is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with cathedral ceilings and lots of open concept feel. Decks on both the front & back of the home let you enjoy all the surrounding nature.
We built this home in 2006 together while we were dating (quite the teambuilding experience) and it proved to be an awesome family adventure! It's a special place for family to gather and memories to be made. You are surrounded by nature and there are moments when it is truly breathtaking.
There are 3 bedrooms - one master queen suite with an attached bath, another queen room, and an additional bedroom with two twin beds. There is an additional full bath with a bathtub as well. The house comfortable fits 6 guests. The kitchen, dining area and living room all co-exist in an open-concept format to give you lots of together-time for your getaway. Gorgeous skylights in the main room light up your morning and give you access to star gazing at night. Fully stocked with all the comforts of home you need...garlic press, check. Coffee maker and tea kettle, of course. Forgot your shampoo, we've got your back. Wine glasses...let's do it!
Outside you have a pond steps from your front door, two decks to enjoy, a grill, a veranda off the master suite that is awesome during fall foliage season, ample parking, and down a short path, you have a creek with a picnic table to enjoy leisurely lunches together.
We LOVE this home - a favorite day staying at Creekside includes a fall morning hike, a Saturday morning trip to the Farmer's Market in Coop to get food for dinner, a walk down Cooperstown's quaint little Main Street while grabbing a cup of coffee at Stagecoach cafe, a lunch stop for a tasting and some euro-style bar food at Ommegang and a trip back to the house to relax and chill on the deck while we cook dinner together and enjoy the stars. It's a special place to be.
Everything in the home is yours during your stay. There is also a creek with a picnic table and the pond for your enjoyment.
Interaction with Guests
We interact as much or as little as you would like us to. We are always a phone call/text/email away during your stay and our family hosts (who live in a separate residence on the property) will open the home, give you the keys and then can be available when/as you need them.
calm. peaceful. nature. bullfrog symphony. :) there are 5 other neighbors on the street, but quite a distance away from creekside, so you have your privacy.
You will definitely want a moving vehicle when you stay here. If necessary, there is a local bus that runs up and down Rt. 28 to Cooperstown and Oneonta, but the schedule isn't frequent. There is another bus depot in Oneonta with service to the surrounding area, Albany, NYC etc. The nearest airport is Albany International, which is a little over an hour away. We've had others fly into Syracuse (2 hours) or NYC and make a road trip (about 4 hours).
Other Things to Note
If you stay for 4 nights, you'll get the 5th free!
There are a few 'house rules'. First, we'd love for you to recycle. There are bins in the garage for convenience. Also, our zoning permits that we don't have more than 7 people staying at the home in addition to not permitting pets or smoking. Your hosts live in a separate home on the premises, so loud-late-night-raucousness is discouraged. We encourage respectful, chill visitors who will take care and love the vibe of this home as much as we do. Our check-out policy is flexible. You can check-in with your hosts upon leaving to say goodbye or you can simply leave the keys on the counter and hit the road, whichever you prefer. No need to do any laundry or dishes upon check-out, we've got it covered!
The hosts were perfect. When we arrived the house was spotless, warm, and welcoming. There were no issues at all with any of the amenities and Doug/Amanda made themselves available at all times. I cannot recommend this house enough to anyone interested in a retreat upstate. Even covered in snow, the grounds were lovely.
Host was very welcoming. He was there to greet us and show us around. The house was as described. It was very accommodating for our girls weekend. There were 5 of us who stayed. The neighborhood was great! Very peaceful. We woke up to hear the birds chirping.
The reservation was canceled 225 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We really enjoyed our 2-night stay at Creekside! Amanda responded quickly to any questions and was flexible with our arrival time. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming when we arrived.
The house itself was great. Just like others have written, the kitchen and living room provide a nice open space for hanging (website hidden) at home one of the nights was no trouble at all. The bedrooms were nice and each of the rooms had a TV. The house is just a short drive away from Cooperstown.
We had a great time and if we visit Cooperstown again, we would definitely stay here!
A group of friends and I were looking for a weekend getaway from the bustle of NYC and decided upon Cooperstown. We found this beautiful home on Airbnb and immediately messaged the hosts to inquire about renting it. Within the hour, we had booked our stay. Upon arrival we saw that the pictures while beautiful did not capture the true home-y feeling of the house. We were greeted by Gary, who is the sweetest and showed us around the home and provided important info for the stay and where to go for food shopping.
The house is spacious and very well decorated. The kitchen is stocked with many pots, pans, plates, cutlery, cups (even wine glasses!), dish towels, and so much more. Cupboards have lots of spices, flour, rice, and other things previous guests left behind to be inherited by the future guests. I recommend taking stock of cupboards before shopping, you'd be surprised by the things in there that are ever so helpful! Everything was functional and so appreciated.
The living room (and all the bedrooms) have cable and the master bedroom has a Smart TV.
The bedrooms are well kept and the bedding matches the decor. The bathroom, especially the master bath was suitable for our stay. The actual grounds around the house are beautiful, unfortunately due to some snow and limited time, we couldn't check out the creek.
Needless to say we\ felt incredibly spoiled by such a beautiful home this weekend and can't thank the hosts enough for being so helpful from booking to checkout. Any questions we had were promptly and throughly answered. You won't regret booking this home! Can't wait to hopefully visit again and take advantage of the creek.
We had a great experience at Creekside. The home has an open floor plan that was great for entertaining our family. The snow kept us from exploring the grounds, but they looked lovely-- no doubt a great place for kids to play during the summer. Gary and Edith, who live in the basement and oversee the place for their granddaughter, were utterly charming and helpful. Thanks!
We were very pleased with our stay at Creekside. The home was exactly as advertised, it was extremely clean and well kept, and was just what we wanted over the Thanksgiving holiday.
The common area was welcoming and provided a good space for our family in the living/TV area, kitchen and dining area. As an open concept design it was well thought out and very comfortable.
The bedrooms were convenient and well sized with TV's in each room. Having two full baths was definitely convenient, especially with our young grandson in our party.
The view outside was very nice over the pond (just like the pictures) and the rural surrounding area was very pretty and scenic. I ran several times on the country roads which was very pleasant.
Doug and Amanda were both very helpful and available when we had a question.
All in all, we had a great stay and hope we can have the opportunity to stay again sometime in the future.
Hi airbnb! I (Amanda) am from upstate New York and Doug is from Ohio. We live together in Connecticut with our spunky toddler, Reggie. Doug and I built Creekside in the summer of 2006 in the town I grew up in. He is a carpenter and I found out I am great with a chop saw, carrying large loads of wood and taking orders from my someday husband. Creekside is mostly used for rentals, however it becomes a gathering place for family and friends during the 'off season'. We hope you will join us!
