The Green Cottage is a romantic bayfront retreat for two, off the beaten track in a quiet residential area. It's a peaceful, charming, art-filled guest hideaway for lovers...of nature, food, wine, adventure, discovery and solitude, but especially for those who love to nurture themselves. It's filled with antiques and family heirlooms. You'll feel like you're visiting your favorite aunt's very special beach cottage. She's given you the keys while she is away. So visit. Stay. Play like a local.

Are you seeking an authentic experience, one that gives you the true sense of a place — where you feel at home, as if you’ve always belonged?

The Green Cottage is a vintage beach house that sits at the water’s edge at the southern end of Morro Bay, on California’s Central Coast. It is a romantic vacation rental for two, beautifully refurbished and filled with art, antiques and hand-made quilts. It offers comfort, privacy, solitude and views that go on forever.

It is the perfect hideaway at the end of a small peninsula tucked away in a quiet residential area of Los Osos. Our part of California is off the beaten path and we like it that way. We live our lives a little slower than the rest of the world. That gives us time to see more of what there is to see and to experience more of the things that are authentic and meaningful — all far, far away from fast-paced big-city lives.

There is something here that evokes reminiscent images of days gone by. Ice cream shops, a famous cookie company, boardwalks, local cafés only locals know about, wineries, art galleries, saloons, hiking trails and deserted beaches perfect for long walks and collecting shells.

Originally a fisherman’s cottage from early 1900s, the Green Cottage has old world charm with today’s comforts. It features the most sought-after attractions in our area: privacy, unobstructed views of Morro Bay, Morro Rock, Baywood Park, and the mountains beyond. This single-story, cozy cottage is irresistibly charming, with emphasis on comfort and view. It provides you with the opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, in romance — here in “the middle kingdom” as National Geographic once called this region of California. It is a natural escape, a refuge and home base for exploring the beautiful Central Coast and all it has to offer.

The Cottage features an open plan interior with an eclectic style of décor, including contemporary and vintage pieces, with the addition of family heirlooms to add just the right amount of coziness and comfort. Step inside and make a cup of tea or cook a gourmet meal in the fully-equipped kitchen to enjoy by candlelight or under the stars on the Cottage deck. Curl up with a good book in the corner reading nook, peruse the original art on the walls, and discover handmade baskets and carvings from Africa, the South Seas, and local Native Americans. Enjoy a glass of award-winning Central Coast wine as you sit quietly on the deck and watch the pelicans, herons, snowy plovers, egrets and peregrine falcons while the sun slips silently into the horizon. At day's end, snuggle into the comfy bed for a restful, relaxed sleep.

The main room includes a king-size premium bed with a handmade quilt and pillow shams.

Beyond is the seating/living area. Your eyes will follow the light, past the breakfast bar to the kitchen/dining area and to the water beyond. You will notice the Cottage gleams in spotless silence, which accounts for 280 5-Star reviews. Off to the side is a separate area — the “Quiet Room” — with a single bed, dressing area, closets and dressers. The bathroom has a separate entrance off the living area. The pantry, off the kitchen has cooking supplies and a European-style washer/dryer.

When you step out onto the deck — be warned — you will not want to leave. There you can sit for hours with your coffee or glass of wine and look down along the shoreline, across the bay to Morro Rock, to the sand dunes and the surrounding mountains.

If you want to connect with the outside world, we make it easy with fast free Wi-Fi. But we suggest making contact on a more personal level by taking a walk along the water and seeing where life takes you. In that way, the Cottage becomes your inspirational refuge.

Whether you are looking for action, adventure, peace, solitude or romance, the Green Cottage offers you a ‘road less traveled’ experience that you will want to return to again and again.

286 Five-Star Reviews
We love that our visitors say wonderful things about the Cottage. That says a lot about the Cottage, but even more about our guests.

We know that people read reviews because these 3rd party opinions help you make your travel decisions. The words of past guests, in a way, become the essential social proof required that the Green Cottage is worth your time and money. We work hard to earn and keep that trust.

We also know that it’s not just the 5-Star review that is important to you, but how many there are over a long period of time. That’s why we are so very proud of our 286 5-Star reviews and 2 4-Star reviews, since 2009.

COVID-19 BEST PRACTICES AND NEW STANDARDS
________________________________________________________
Our goal is to provide our guests with a safe environment and peace of mind.

We pride ourselves in providing a spotless environment for our guests. We will continue to clean using our regular procedures and check lists.

New Protocol: However, in light of COVID-19 we have instituted a rigorous sanitization and disinfection protocol beyond just cleaning. We are following the guidelines from the Centers For Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), Vacation Rental Management Association (VRMA) and the Health Department of San Luis Obispo County.

We will disinfect all surfaces (e.g. tables, hard-backed chairs, doorknobs, light switches, remote controls, handles, desks, toilets, sinks, appliances, cookware, faucets, clothes hangers, furniture and beds).

Products: We only use sanitizing and disinfecting products recommended by the CDC.

Added Precautions: During this time we will be removing many items from the Cottage for our guests’ protection like: extra soft decorative pillows and extra lap robes. In addition, all the extra sets of dishes, glassware, table linens and kitchen utensils will be stored until they can be safely returned. There will be plenty of available cookware and utensils to enjoy fine meals. The spice, DVD, book and game collections will also be stored temporarily.

What do you need: Let us know if you have special requests and we will be happy to provide them for you. We will be providing masks and hand sanitizer for our guests.

Time between guests: We now will schedule at least 48 hours between guest visits.

No contact check-in and check out: Guests will be able to check in and check out without any person-to-person contact.

Be safe. Be well. We want our guests to feel safe, comfortable and secure.

I have degrees in art and design and was a graphic designer and photographer for three decades. I've worked with a variety of clients including the American Medical Association, Canon Camera, the American Society of Landscape Architects and a U.S. Papal visit; and designed books for famous photographers including: George Lepp and Presidential photographer, Joseph Sohm. I have received national and international awards for design work and my photographs have appeared on the covers and interiors of national and regional magazines and newspapers. I have lectured in the United States and Australia. I have served in elected office; been selected as Citizen of the Year, Woman of the Year, Kiwanian of the Year, San Luis Obispo County Volunteer of the Year, and received the Mary Rhode Award from the League of Women Voters. I have served on numerous non-profit Boards of Directors and have been a San Luis Obispo County Park Commissioner since 1991. I am an avid supporter of the Land Conservency of San Luis Obispo County, SLO Botanical Garden, the Dana Adobe, Central Coast State Parks Association and numerous other preservation organizations. I serve on the local County Business Improvement District's Board and am a member in numerous art organizations and the Chamber of Commerce. I co-manage Celebrate Los Osos, a local non-profit that utilizes volunteers to do public benefit projects for our community -- from beautification projects to organizing weed pulls for invasive species. I am a contemporary ceramic artist. My work can be seen at the Gallery at the Network in downtown San Luis Obispo and at my in-studio gallery. My work has appeared in shows in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. I love traveling and photographing in foreign countries; I raise roses and am an avid sailor. I live in Cuesta-By-The-Sea, Los Osos, California, with Prince Charming — my landscape architect husband, Gary — and a yellow lab named Keesha. I practice (and practice) on a custom-made Baranik guitar. I have sailed over 40,000 off-shore miles exploring remote islands most people haven’t heard of in the south Pacific. I hold a US Coast Guard Captain’s license, a Ham radio license and my sailboat, an Islander named "Califia" (trimmed in purple naturally), rests on a mooring in Morro Bay. I have taken my design/art background and used those skills to design the interior of the Cottage so that it is cozy, visually interesting, very comfortable and well stocked with things our guests might need. Green Cottage on Morro Bay. Visit. Stay. Play!
