A tree house nestled within an orange and avocado orchard and surprisingly close to L.A. We're a working farm with chickens, goats, ducks and other animals. Dogs and cats will greet you upon arrival. We usually have seasonal fruits and vegetables to pick and you'll have plenty of privacy and serenity to relax and enjoy. Often referred to as 'magical, amazing or incredible' we've hosted many guest and many couples have gotten engaged while staying with us.
The space
Our treehouse is a lovely place to relax and enjoy for couples wanting a place to get away from it all! We usually enjoy a wonderful breeze that makes sitting on the large deck with wine and cheese a great way to spend the afternoon. Afternoon melts into spectacular sunsets that are great to watch from the hillside or porches. After sunset, you can enjoy stargazing since we are away from most city lights. There's also a small firepit on the deck for s'mores and more. The treehouse is secluded and in the canopy of orange and avocado trees, it's level and sturdy!
We list "no pets" because we have chickens and cats and we'd like to avoid conflicts...but if your pet is mild-mannered and won't chase our chickens, then we're open to it. Please consult with us if bringing pets.
The treehouse is elevated about 9-feet into the canopy of the orange and avocado trees in our orchard. Access come by way of crossing a bridge after going up two short flight of stairs. A tree grows through the center of the deck but the treehouse itself is not attached to any trees. The treehouse is solid and does not sway or move even in heavy winds. The place is charming, playful and full of amenities including a pole to slide down, a basket hoist and many other unique features.
Please note, we have 3 very friendly cats who'll try to spend time with you and come into the bedroom, If you are allergic to cats, this may present an issue.
About 5 minutes away is the city of Fillmore and there's also neighboring Santa Paula. You'll feel like you slipped back in time where small family storefronts and a simple way of life prevails. Some guests explore the area while others spend their entire time in the treehouse or relaxing on the deck, the experience is what you make of it.
Guest access
The 10 acre farm, porches, and grounds are open for you to enjoy. Explore the orchard, we have avocado, citrus and many fruit trees. We also have about 100 chickens, 2 goats, ducks, a goose and 2 cats who think you're visit is to spend time with them. We do not live on the farm full-time so you'll likely have plenty of privacy and a keypad by the front gate allows guests to arrive at all hours.
Other things to note
This not only a treehouse experience but also a farm stay experience located in an old-town agricultural setting. You'll literally slip back in time to an era when life wasn't so hectic, busy or complicated. The city of Fillmore still retains the charm and feel of a small town and visitors often remark how it seems like being somewhere in the Mid-West. As you drive around you'll see other farms, orchards and agricultural activity that further removes you from the feel of a big city. The coastal influence brings fresh air filled with the fragrance of herbs, vegetables and orange blossoms.
Feel free to collect fresh eggs and oranges in the morning for your breakfast. We also have over 100 fruit trees, a vegetable garden and other things to sample while you enjoy your stay.
Our farm is a working avocado and citrus orchard but it's also a way to escape and feel like you're in a whole different world and way of life. To be very open about it, we're not listing our places for the income but rather to share our dream with others...and we truly mean that. The dollars are nice but the smiles and memories are what it's all about.
Please note, during winter some farms, including our own, may need to run the wind machines if there is a frost advisory. We had to run our machine 2 nights last year so it's a not likely...but when they do run it sounds like a helicopter landing nearby and can be rather loud. The season runs from mid December thru early February so please understand this could happen. You'll also hear roosters in the morning but it's not over -powering.
Again, we have 4 cats on the property that will try to live with you while you are visiting. If you are highly allergic to cats, this may not work for you and we've had no success in asking them to stay away from guest....it's as if they have a mind of their own.
