A place guests keep coming back to

Guests return year after year, praising the peaceful setting and responsive, helpful hosts
What we love about the place are the soft sounds, serenity, and sublte but substantial emotions that are fueled by the surrounding nature and healing and cleansing navigable river.
if you are a steward of the river and promise to treat her with respect , you are welcome to book your stay.
It's out in the country but close enough to town ( 10 mins to San Marcos, and you can take back roads!
The eco friendly landscape is amazing and it’s sustained with our rain collectors.

The space
Paradise on the River is a beautiful custom built home that opens up with vaulted ceilings, dimmer lights, comfortable furniture, surrounded with soft pastel walls and tasteful art decor to give you a warm welcoming at-home feel away from home. 50' Panasonic smart LCD TV w/DVD.
Pleasantly inviting, this 2B/3B enchantment is nestled on 1 acre of woods off a private drive on the healing crystal clear San Marcos river shaded with majestic cypress trees.
On the banks of the river you can have a picnic,BBQ, have a campfire if there is no fire ban, perhaps try out the natural healing clay that may be near by similar to those you have at a spa, do some star gazing, or just relax in the peaceful surroundings. There are a couple of hammocks to enhance your relaxation. Please see the guidebooks for other places you might want to check out.
The river offers fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking and other water sports. This place has shown to be fun, relaxing and affordable where many guests return yearly for their get away. Please respect other neighbors and each others space at the river .
We will give you your space and privacy but just so you are aware that we may need to come out to property at times to water and will give prior notice when doing so.

Guest access
It’s easy to get around by walking , riding your bike .
You have entire access to the house along with the acre lot including our river access.
We live in the tiny house that is connected to the main house sometimes.
Rules -
No loud parties allowed
No boom boxes or playing music outside unless low volume .
There is a designated fire pit to be used only if there is not a burn ban.
Please be respectful of the hood and do not tress pass on neighbors property. Being mindful of neighbors space and use our side of property to keep your belongings when down at the river.
It’s a navigable river and river beds in the gradient boundary extending down away from private property belong to the state . Neighbors and the public have the right and are welcome to utilize the river beds on our side as well .
Please use our river access when coming up unto the banks .If safety concerns arise especially if you are coming back from floating or swimming just past our property going down stream., portage on the rivers edge might become necessary. Please get aqainted with the area so you are aware of how far to go downstream , as you will need to start paddling back up steam with or without a toob once you’ve swam down stream or gone over the little rapids close to our spot .
It might be to your advantage to educate yourself regarding the river laws pertaining to navigable rivers.

Other things to note
The river is approx 75 yards from the Guest House.
You’re welcome to drive down and park on the level just right before the last one on the sides by the trees and chairs if you wish.
Parking right at the river level may be considered especially if you have kayaks or canoes.
Floating is fine if you start at the park in town, it’s generally a nice 30 minute float to our Spot
As you start to go over the rapids, it will get into the deeper waters where we call the swimming hole. It is advisable to start paddling back up soon there after though the river will get back to being shallower making it fairly easy to get back to our side, so not continue floating down too far and not being able to get back and we wouldn’t want you to be ti into trouble trespassing on neighbors downstream.
It is a very long float 5 hr float to Staples bridge on a tube, but can be done on a Kayak or paddleboard down to Staples Bridge. You would need to either get in touch with Spencer’s Canoes( Shady Grove campground) just across the river from us and arrange a pick up if you do not have an extra truck or other means to be able to get out there but there is still a charge for that exit as it off private property belonging to Spencer’s.
