Whether the weather is sunny and warm or rainy and cool, this home and location will not disappoint.

On occasion and only during weekdays, the Navy flies touch and gos immediately over the house which is quite exciting sight to see but can be quite loud for short periods of time while they’re flying.

please enjoy the entire house- we have sealed off a few of our personal possessions in the garage and pantry/ closet.

The key is located in a lockbox on the garage- the access code will be provided the day of check in.

Other things to note
If you have any questions about Coupeville, Whidbey Island or your stay we are happy to answer questions. This island is magical and we hope you enjoy your time!

EXPLORING THE BEACH: Walking the beach is fun, especially during low tide when you can walk west towards the spit. Just don’t get caught there during high tide.

THE LAGOON: The lagoon at the end of our street is especially fun to explore- beachcomb, turn over rocks to find baby crabs and walk along the driftwood.

KAYAKS: We have two kayaks that you may use but we require lifejackets and that only experienced kayakers venture out. The Puget Sound is cold and kayaks are not overly stable - please stay close to shore as you go exploring. Please know what to do in the event the kayak turns over before you head out. When you are finished using the kayaks, please rinse them off with fresh water and hang them on the racks to keep up their appearance : )

HOT TUB: we ask that you and your guests shower before entering the hot tub. Also, please follow the instructions to add cleaning agent at the end of each day when you use the hot tub (instructions are in the garage on the work table).

CRABBING: we have some of the best crabbing right off our beach. Should you decide to crab it is important that you obtain a crabbing license. Please read the crabbing rules outlining what you can keep versus through back. We want to do our part to keep the crab population strong for years to come. You can get a license from the local grocery store in Coupeville, the Red Apple. We have crab pots and 50-feet lines. As you’re dropping the pots, please account for tide changes. If the pots are dropped too deep they will disappear during high tide. We usually drop pots in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon or next morning. You can get bait from the Red Apple- they sell frozen fish parts. There is a fish cleaning station to prepare the crabs and a propane boiler in the garage that can be set up in the back side yard to boil your crab. If you have any questions about the crabbing process we are happy to help you out. Good luck!

Helpful hints for the house:

It is out of water- it can be refilled by pulling out the left side compartment.
There is steam in the system- rotate the top left knob until water comes out of the nozzle.
Out of bean- there are more beans located in the drawer immediately below the machine.

GRILL- please note that the LEFT side is reserved for vegetarian products ONLY. Please make sure to turn off the grill once you are finished. Please brush the grill to clean and remove any residue. The Harrington Lagoon neighborhood is a special place with so many things to do. Explore the lagoon wander during low tide or walk along the beach to the distant spit. Look for sea stars (but please do not bother them) or look for Orcas as they swim the passage. We have a family of eagles living nearby and they frequently feed nearby.
