This 1800's carriage house has been converted and given high-end finishes, a new bathroom, and kitchenette with all the basics.

The space
The cabin is a studio style open floor plan with a loft that overlooks the downstairs space.

We offer one queen bed on the main level, and a full size bed in the loft.

In the kitchenette you will find basic dishes, cookware, and utensils if you choose to use the space to make your own meals. A mini-fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and stove top are provided for your convenience.

You will find a tub/shower combo, toilet, and one-person vanity in the custom bathroom.

There is also space and hangers for clothes that need to be hung or aired out, a bench and luggage rack to set your bags rather than on the bed or floor, and night tables on each side of the queen bed.

A small garden rests outside the entryway and there is a shared patio space next to the cabin. Ambient market lights and a large hand-made table are at your service if you wish to use the patio.

We have an expansive veggie and fruit garden and are happy to give guests a tour and share its bounties.

Our property is right off a main mountain highway (CO 65), backs up to Surface Creek, and our main home is between the road and the cabin. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE LOCATION and we live on the property. The cabin is across the shared patio from our house and across a grassy area from the creek. Guests enjoy the soothing rumbling of the creek at night and the expansive night sky as the stars are not hidden - no area lights! For extra character and country atmosphere, the back/lower half of our property houses a classic style "big red barn" that serves as my husband's workshop.

UPDATE AS OF 06.12.2020: We had a major fire on our property that took down a storage shed and half of the barn. The cabin, our home, and one other building were not affected. We lost all our chickens, the rooster, and the rabbit in the blaze. We will be working on clean up and restoration but will notify all guests of work times and will be happy to accommodate special "quiet times" if needed (our quiet times are usually 10:00 pm - 7:00 am). Just want everyone to be aware that while the accommodations are still stellar, the outdoor ambiance on the back part of our property may not be very appealing. Guest access
There is parking right outside the cabin, next to the walkway (room enough for two vehicles). Please note that in snowy weather you will need 4-wheel drive to get out of our very steep driveway. There is also parking in front of the main house, next to a well-traveled mountain highway with plenty of space to safely exit and enter your vehicle.

You will have access to the entire cabin, shared patio space, and feel free to trek down to the creek. DURING THIS TIME AS WE CLEAN AND RESTORE THE FIRE DAMAGE, PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION IF YOU CHOOSE TO VISIT THE CREEK - we had to move some things around and access is tricky.

The cabin is set behind our house just down a hill. While sitting outside or with windows open you can hear Surface Creek rush by. PLEASE NOTE: You will need to look for our address, not the cabin, and pull down the driveway to access the cabin. We live in a small grey house.

You are welcome to the area between the cabin and creek, but no access to any other building. To access the creek, you must cross part of our property, and in months when it is flowing, you can hear it from the cabin.

My Rottweiler is in her outdoor kennel during the day and sleeps inside our house at night. She is very protective so she may bark but let us introduce you and she will love you - she is very friendly. You may also see our outdoor cat, Molly, who loves being petted. My son has just got a bulldog puppy that will bark at you if she is outside with her boy, she will bark at new people, but she is friendly, too.

We reserve the right to charge GUESTS WHO FAIL TO CHECK OUT ON TIME for another night (unless previous arrangements have been made and documented in the Airbnb messaging platform). Please keep in mind that the cabin gets thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between guests and this takes several hours. Thank you for being considerate to our next guests!

Other things to note
We are located 20 minutes from Delta, 7 minutes from Cedaredge, and are en route to the Grand Mesa where you will find great fishing, hiking, skiing, or just solitude. We are close to one of the many Black Canyon entrances as well and are not too far from the Escalante canyon area. There are a good handful of State Parks close by as well.

We provide the latest visitor guides and will be happy to guide your visit or recommend places to visit.

Because we are in a rural area surrounded by farm/ranching land and bordered by a creek, we have bugs and wildlife. Please use caution and common sense if you see a wild animal and don't be alarmed if insects sneak into the cabin (we have placed several glue traps around the cabin to keep the pests to a minimum. We get them in our house, too; but that's "back-country" living!).

Some cell providers will be stronger in some areas and weaker in other areas out this way. We utilize Verizon and have never had a problem at our location, but do have problems in some parts of Cedaredge and the North Fork area.

Although we are located just off the highway, you will find your accommodations quiet and relaxing. Our one-acre property has large mature trees with lots of shade, quiet neighbors who keep to themselves, and is one of the prettiest areas of land in Delta County.

South of us is Delta where you will find conveniences like WalMart, Auto Zone, Dining, a Recreation Center, and shopping on our Historic Main Street. Several times each summer, you can visit the local street fairs, farmer's market, or other celebrations.

North of us is Cedaredge and the Grand Mesa. Cedaredge has great local art, cafes, and a beautiful Main Street and town park for walking. The Grand Mesa is a draw for outdoor enthusiasts and you can find hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing, and solitude up there.

Cedaredge hosts the famous Applefest the first weekend of October, the Serenity Run each summer, and has hosted Ride the Rockies. In the summers you will find a weekly farmer's market and monthly art walks and other events.

Surrounding communities host various festivals, county fairs, and good ol' country fun. Close by are Hotchkiss, Paonia, Crawford, and Olathe.

We're about 45 mintues to Montrose and about an hour to Grand Junction.

Right now you can find me on Colorado's Western Slope in the house my husband used to visit as a boy. We purchased the home on one acre from his grandfather before he passed away close to his 100th birthday. The property backs to the area's favorite creek. In August of twenty-seventeen we started hosting our own Airbnb LOG CABIN! A converted eighteen-hundred's Carriage House, it will sleeps up to 5, has a small garden outside the entryway, brand new bathroom, loft, lots of great shade, and kitchenette. In the future we plan on adding a creek-side deck complete with fire pit for guest use also and a fully-equipped outdoor kitchen and small event area to hang out and grill up some gourmet feasts (my hubby loves to cook for others and is a favorite cook of friends and family). After we are finished re-landscaping the property I hope to add peacocks because, how cool would that be? I enjoy road trips and flea markets, eating out and being out & about. At least once a year I take a trip back home to the Dallas area to visit family, go to the State Fair, and celebrate my birthday. I travel with my Rottie who loves hiking. I also enjoy all sorts of crafting and art making, selling my creations on Etsy and through local shops and markets and the artist co-op I helped launch three years ago. I do a bit of print design freelance and have achieved acquiring my Colorado Real Estate Broker's license and am now a Realtor(r)! At this time, I serve on the Delta County Board of Directors and serve on the Delta County Tourism Cabinet. I also own my own print design company, (ten-nineteen) Designs.
