About This Listing
Quiet and peaceful yet close enough to the city for all it's activity.
A lovely attic space, newly converted with a big airy bedroom a good sized bathroom and a little kitchen area. The loft room has a modern fresh interior in grey, white and brights!
There's a lovely comfy king size bed, a television, ipod dock and original artwork. The bathroom has an electric power shower over a full sized bath. The kitchen has a fridge and combination microwave.
The room has a beautiful view over the back garden, if you don't mind the dogs you can sit and and enjoy the garden or even bounce on the trampoline!
It's the best of both worlds as it's a quiet suburban area with leafy streets.Nearby there are pubs with decent pub food and a row of shops for essential supplies.
There's a cycle/foot path at the end of the street and it's an easy 20 minute walk into town along the river Ouse past the Millennium Bridge.
York is a beautiful city with lots of history and loads to see! Plenty of pubs, restaurants and nightlife....
There are lots of buses into town, and onwards.
A shared front door and stairs but once you are in the loft it's self contained....
Interaction with Guests
It really depends, mostly we are a pretty busy family but we are happy to help with anything you need; just let us know!
Peaceful green suburbs with easy access to the 'Bright lights'!
Parking on the street, an easy walk to the bus stop and even into town on foot it's under half an hour?
No smoking in the house.
Basically respectful guests are more than welcome into our home.
Lovely walk along the river to get to the house, about 1.5 miles from York rail station. Theolyn arranged for her daughter to let us in as she was working that day. We never actually saw theolyn as we left the next morning. The room as well equipped and comfortable and the bed very comfy.
Theolyn was there at the time of arrival, gave us the key showed us the room and left us to vet on with it. Room exactly as described, with nice clean en-suite, towels, and kitchenette with microwave/toaster oven combined, good for simple meals.
The room is in the loft, and the dogs kept downstairs or in the garden are no bother at all. Theolyn made sure we had everything we needed, and left us to get on with it.
The house is in a nice suburb, 30 minutes walk along the river from the OldCity, or less than 10 minutes by bus.
Theolyn made us feel extremely welcome, providing three types of tea and ground coffee as well as croissants and jam. The rooms were modern, comfortable and very clean, and as described. The accommodation is built in the loft of a house with a slightly narrow staircase providing access.
The road is tree lined with wide verges, free parking, and quiet with the cycle route into the centre of York at the far end. We brought bikes intending to cycle into York, but inclement weather put paid to this plan. We look forward to staying with Theolyn when we come to York again.
After a nightmarish travel day that meant my arrival was hours later than expected, Theolyn greeted me with a warm smile and cheery disposition that instantly helped me relax, despite having never met previously. The accommodation itself was immaculate and comfortable. It was so nice staying in what felt like someone's guest room rather than a cookie cutter hotel room. Having my favourite Yorkshire Tea on hand was and added bonus.
I had a totally lovely time staying at Theolyn's house. She was a very welcoming host and the room (more like a private little flat!) was absolutely lovely! Great location for me as I was working an event at the Racecourse.
Theolyn was a very warm, welcoming hostess and we felt very comfortable in her home. She gave us lots of information about the local area, bus timetables, restaurants etc. She also went out of her way to give us information about 'York Open Studios' which we thoroughly enjoyed. The house was located close to the river which offered us a delightful pathway to city centre.
The accommodation was private, spacious and very comfortable.
We hope to make a return visit in the future.
Really welcoming. Gorgeous area and was actually even nicer than we were expecting. Would very much recommend and if in york again will aim.
