The flat occupies the first floor of a small stone-built 17th century house. It overlooks a characteristic tiny square and is right in the picturesque medieval centre of Bracciano, on the lake Bracciano, 40 km from the centre of Rome.
The flat is self-contained and consists of a dinette-kitchen, one room with a double divan-bed (1.60 m wide) complete with ceiling fan, and a pretty little bathroom with shower. A washing machine is available in the flat.
The house can only be reached on foot, but parking facilities are a few minutes away. Within a stone's throw from the house there is the Belvedere della Sentinella, a viewpoint with a wonderful vista over the whole lake. The famous Castle of Bracciano, which has daily conducted tours, is also a few minutes from the house. Bars, restaurants, pizzeria, shops and a supermarket are within easy reach. Ten minutes is the walking time required to reach the railway station.
A metropolitan train leaving every half hour reaches Rome in one hour's time, with various stops inside the town. The train ticket, covering city transport and valid for the whole day, costs € 8.
The lake can be reached with a 15' walk, but a shuttle service is available.
A volcanic lake, Bracciano is one of the cleanest lakes in Italy, with plenty of fishes. Motor boating is not permitted. Two other characteristic villages on the lake are Trevignano and Anguillara. On the lake side there are plenty of bars, restaurants and beaches. Rowing boats, canoes and pedaloes are on rental. Sailing and wind surfing can be practised in the existing clubs.
There are quite a few maneges in the area.
The train reaches Viterbo, a beautiful medieval town, in 45'.
(email hidden) range, there are many other historical and artistic sites, Etruscan sites such as the Cerveteri necropolis, the Stigliano spa, the wood of Manziana, the protected area of Canale Monterano, and the sea.
Best choice in town! Consigliatissimo, in una piazzetta deliziosa nella parte antica del borgo, pulito e attrezzato nei minimi dettagli. Proprietaria davvero gentile e disponibile. Tornerò
We fell in love with this wonderful and cosy house and during our staying here we felt ourselves locals in beautiful Bracciano:) Irene is a very nice person, she met us very warmly, gave us all the instructions and when we had a little collaps with the electricity helped us immediately. We would love to come back to this lovely place!
Grazie mille, Irene!
Wonderful host and very cute, clean little apartment!! It is located right next to the castle (that we didn't have time to visit) in the old town: the location is definitely a plus!! We would have loved to stay longer in this charming place! Irene was very welcoming and was a pleasure to talk to, a very open and easy going person! Thanks again for our wonderful stay! Take care! xx
Charming, fairy house. Cozy and comfortable.
Very handy location near the castle - easy to find and easy to ask the way when you lost :)
Wonderful, picturesque, quiet town - the perfect place to rest and relax. Clean air and water, natural delicious food, wonderful, responsive and friendly people, even cats and dogs :)
It is easy to get to Rome, but! be careful do not to miss the last train! :) But even in this case, do not worry, you are sure to get help everywhere.
Pleased to add that the bed was fixed and absolutely ok now ;)
Many thanks to all related to me as a dear friend: Irene, Adriana and Nicola, for sure :) for a wonderful stay.
So, highly recommend!
PS Especially I'd like to thank Irene for brought my forgotten phone right to airplane.
The stone house was very cute, nice furniture and clever use of space.
The only thing that was not great, is the bed. Very bumpy.
Bracciano is nice, especially with nice weather.
Hello Sofie, I'm really sorry that you didn't like the bed. In fact it's
not new and I was thinking of buying a new one, but when I asked a feedback
to my guests they where all very happy with it, so I didn't do it. But now
I will, to avoid such problems in the future. Thank you. Irene
Irene's cottage is in the perfect location - a few steps from a magnificent view of Lago Bracciano and about a five minute walk to the castle and duomo in the town. Our favorite part, however, was likely the tiny piazza (Padella) on which the house sits. It's almost too perfect and beautiful. You will be met by many friendly cats eager to make your acquaintance. We did not get to meet Irene because she was out of town, but her lovely friend, Nicola, met us and showed us the place - he even helped us fix some internet troubles late Saturday evening! We highly recommend Irene and her lovely home! Thanks for everything.
My wife and I had a great time at Irene's house! The square and village area are absolutely fantastic, the dining is great, and whole atmosphere is a step back to a simpler time. Her place was the first of three we've stayed in so far on our Italy business trip and by far it is the best and the best hostess too. Irene was generous with her time helping us out with getting around and finding the things we needed there. Our only regret is that we didn't have a lot of time to explore Bracciano due to my work. Thanks Irene for a wonderful stay!
We loved staying at Irene's apartment in Bracciano! It's located right in the middle of the medieval area where no cars are allowed, which made for a very relaxing holiday. The city is filled with wonderfully authentic italian restaurants that are not expensive. We were lucky enough to stay during the "Vino e Funghi" festival and enjoyed freshly cooked mushrooms and other regional foods from various venders throughout the town.
We had to leave early to catch a flight and spent a day in Rome, and we missed Bracciano terribly the whole time. I highly reccommend staying at Irene's apartment in this gorgeous, romantic town.
