The Coronado Guest House is located behind our historic 1937 home and is located in the heart of the Coronado Historic Neighborhood. We are within walking distance to many great restaurants and downtown Phoenix is only a 5 minute drive away. Downtown Phoenix is home to numerous sporting venues such as Chase Field and US Airways Center, as well as the Phoenix Art Museum, Arizona Science Center, Heard Museum, and the Children's Museum. Many great restaurants are within a 5 minute walk and we can recommend a few of our favorites for you. The 7th St. and Oak bus stop is only a 5 minute walk. We are also only a 10-15 minute walk to the Oak Metro Light Rail station which can take you to Downtown Phoenix, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, Tempe with its eclectic Mill Avenue and home to Arizona State University, and Mesa with it's wonderful Mesa Center for the Arts.

Your private guest house has a queen bed that accommodates 2 people as well as a fold out couch that can sleep one person. In the guest house you'll have a 32" flatscreen TV with DirectTV satellite as well as wireless internet throughout the entire backyard. The french doors open up to a gazebo perfect for outdoor dining and seating for 8. Lounge on the patio in the hammock. There are also screen doors that you can lock so you can leave the inside doors open at night and enjoy the cool air. The guest house has a full kitchen and bathroom. Laundry is available in our main house if needed. The guest house entrance is through our driveway gate and is separate from our main house.

Also it's not too early to Inquire about Super Bowl 2015 being hosted in Glendale, AZ. It's listed for $1500 per night. That's less than $200 per person and far less than hotels will be charging. Please inquire before booking.

Interaction with Guests

I'm always around as I work from home so chances are I'll be here to show you around - unless I'm traveling the world. In that case just call me if you need anything.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood has been referred to as "Funky Town" by Phoenix Magazine. There are lots of artists who call Coronado home as well as many great restaurants within walking distance. Many people (like us!) keep chickens in their backyard and I've even see a gentleman take his miniature "service" pony for a walk down the street. Welcome to Funky Town.

Getting around

The nearest bus stop is on 7th Street and is only a 3-4 minute walk away. The closest light-rail station is only a 10-12 minute walk from the guest house.

Other Things to Note

Wow that's a lot of pink stars.

  • The Charming Coronado Guest House was a delight, and Sky was the warmest host. He was there to attend to all of our inquiries, and the guest house had the most thoughtful and lovely furnishings for any traveller, especially those coming to Phoenix in the hot, muggy summer. The neighbourhood is quiet and accessible, and it has many good restaurants just around the corner. My partner and I thought the guest house was definitely a highlight of our trip.

  • I am torn between being grateful that this was my first Airbnb experience and being afraid that nothing else will measure up! Sky's friendliness and welcoming attitude started as soon as I request a reservation and only got better! The accommodations were great and all of the "extras" were amazing. From the ice cold water in the fridge to the fresh eggs this was much more than I expected. There was even a variety of cold beer available! Don't wait, reserve your stay now, trust me you will be happy. Thanks for the great introduction to airbnb Sky!

  • Sky is a great host that responded quickly to all of our needs. We arrived earlier than expected and the room was ready for check in. The guest house is nicely updated, spacious and clean. The kitchen is perfect for preparing meals and was stocked with essentials..... beer, fresh eggs from the chickens in the yard, orange juice, and even a keurig! The bathroom was clean and had a strong flushing toilet. The location is near the I-10 so its perfect for travelers. There's a great café with a good selection of craft beers just a 4 minute walk away. We like the lock for the door, outdoor seating area and cable TV too! Much better than any hotel in the area. Felt like we were at home.

  • The Coronado Guest House was perfect! After a long road trip, this was the perfect place to collect yourself. Cold brews waiting in the fridge aside twin bottles of beading cold water. Cool off on the porch in the rocking chair or swinging in the hammock.

Coordinating with Sky was hassle free and he provided an endless amount of local recommendations. All of this in mind, one day is not enough while relaxing at Sky's place

Sincerely, you couldn't ask for anything more!

  • Sky was an amazing host! Even from the initial point of making the reservation, super helpful. Very cool space and close proximity to downtown - outdoor patio space, fire pit, fresh eggs each morning, very clean and well equipped. Sky made excellent suggestions about two great dining options just a couple blocks away. Will most definitely be back!

  • Perfect first Airbnb experience. Sky was the best host - he was able to greet us when we arrived and gave us a thorough but quick overview of the space and local highlights. If for some reason he is not available to meet you, he has (email hidden) for visitors. We were only there for one night but would have loved to stay for more. Anything you could have needed or wanted was available (soap, shampoo, coffee, beer, and fresh eggs!!!). When he says the water pressure is high, he is not kidding. Sky recommended Main Ingredient for dinner, which was fantastic. After dinner we relaxed on the hammock and were able to star gaze. Would highly recommend and return if we are ever in the area again. Thanks for an amazing and relaxing experience, Sky!

  • This was a perfect spot for two people visiting Phoenix. It is central, a very well styled place, and with an outfitted kitchen. Sky made it easily accessible. We really couldn't have asked for more. Thank you!

  • Sky's place was very clean and nicely decorated. It has everything you would need in a home away from home. I loved it! Highly recommended!

  • Sky was a great host! We got in a bit later than expected but he didn't seem to mind. He showed us into the property and told is what he had in there for us. The back patio was nice with it's strung lights. The space is small - it was myself, my husband, our dog, and we picked up my brother. So it was cozy. But worked. We were just there for one night before heading to the Grand Canyon. The kitchen worked great for making a nice full breakfast! Thanks Sky!

  • This cozy space was extremely clean. It can sleep 4, but would be best for 2 people. This is a real B&B, with fresh eggs, beer, yogurt, fruit as well as tea, coffee, and just about anything else you may need. Sky greeted us as we walked up to the house. He was there for us if we had a question/concern. Highly recommended.

I married my best friend on a beach in Mexico, ridden bicycles with the locals on the streets of Beijing, hiked the hill towns of the Cinque Terra in Italy, explored 12th century Cambodian temples, swam with sharks in Bora Bora, been offered a beer on the Great Wall, sat 5 feet from wild orangutans in the Sumatran jungle, found heaven in the Alps of Switzerland, played with baby elephants in Thailand, tried speaking Arabic to shopkeepers in Marrakech, found pura vida in Costa Rica, saw what a wall can do in Berlin, marveled at Eiffel's Tower, experienced Dutch tolerance in Amsterdam, walked the Cliffs of Mohr, hiked Machu Picchu, realized how much fun on can have in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, meandered through the Siq to witness Petra's beauty, and enjoyed myself way to much in Istanbul's Grand Bazar. The world is my sandbox. Can you pass me that little plastic shovel please?
