In the summer, we offer our guests organic fruits and vegetables from the front lawn, fishing rods for pond behind the house, and inner tubes to float down the Deerfield River. Located half a mile away is the Plainfield Pond, with a kid-friendly sandy beach.

In the winter, the house includes cross country skis, snow shoes and wood for the fireplace. It also has an indoor parking so you won't need to brush and scrape! The house is 10 minutes to Berkshire East Ski Area and Notch View Reservation for cross country skiing. Southern Vermont ski areas such as Mt Snow and Sunapee are an hour's drive.

The house is ideally located close to Smith College and all of the shops, restaurants and cultural activities of Main Street, Northampton. Also in the area is Tanglewood in Lenox, Mass MoCA in North Adams, Clark Art Institute & Williams College in Williamstown and Jacobs Pillow in Becket.

  • Beautiful house in a wonderful location. Close enough to northampton, williams to get dinner or other things but far enough away to really enjoy the seclusion. Thanks!

  • We chose Molly's home to hold our tiny little wedding over a long weekend. For just us and four of our closest friends, this was the perfect winter destination. We caught over a foot and a half of fresh snow and held our ceremonies during the beginning of the blizzard in front of a huge rock on the slope down to and overlooking the lake; it was absolutely breathtaking. The house itself is well-equipped and terribly comfortable. The kitchen is completely equipped and the living room is amazing; the big U-couch and huge square coffee table became the center of our stay. The fireplace is wonderful and there was plenty of wood. The beds and bathrooms are super nice. I know it lists only 3 bedrooms, but this house would easily accommodate 10 people as advertised. All-in-all, I can't say enough about the place. Also, Molly and Perry made themselves very much available in advance of our stay. They provided heaps of information and some great recommendations, and always responded quickly to our questions. If you're considering this house, just pull the trigger; you're going to love it!

  • Usually, Airbnb-verified photos lead to minor disappointment upon arrival because they make the space you're renting look just a bit too awesome. The opposite is true with Molly's home...they don't do the place justice.

It starts with a dead-simple keyless entry code: no fumbling in the dark for a hidden key or struggling with a weird lockbox. Once inside, the home is very spacious and comfortable, with plenty of places to sleep and two gigantic bathrooms. There's a basement with a washer and dryer, sporting equipment and plenty of extra toilet paper and paper towels. The living room has a fireplace (and firewood), and a nice TV with a Roku for watching Netflix. It's all very well considered.

But you don't rent this place for the interior, you rent it for the idyllic setting just outside the door. We spent almost the entire time at Molly's place just behind the house, fishing in Plainfield Pond, climbing the various rocks, and hiking along one of several trails in the immediate area. We occasionally would make the hike back up the hill to check on the brisket we smoked in the provided smoker or sausages cooked on the provided grill. Then we enjoyed our food in the screened gazebo. Pretty awesome.

Our hard-to-please group of 8 couldn't have asked for more. Check it out for yourself.

  • My family has admired this house for decades, as they summered in the area since my mother was little. It is a gorgeous, well-maintained house in a lovely rural area. It is like a dream to wake up and make breakfast in a kitchen with windows on three sides, one side overlooking the lake. We look forward to going back soon!

  • Our stay at Molly's beautiful home was very relaxing and enjoyable. The house, property and community were as scenic and lovely as advertised. The house itself is very well kept, clean and furnished with everything a vacationer needs and more. The rental manager is extremely helpful and friendly. We highly recommend this home for anyone looking for an authentic Berkshires experience and will definitely return in the future!

  • The Plainfield house is lovely. It was the perfect spot for us to spend our long weekend. The house itself is very comfortable with a large living room and very comfortable couch. The kitchen was perfect for having several people help prepare and the group sitting down for breakfast together. We enjoyed dinner in the gazebo as well as afternoons relaxing on the front patio. The pond out back was picturesque. The location was well suited for our weekend in the Berkshires. We spent afternoons swimming at the beautiful Plainfield Pond right down the street and exploring the rivers, farm stands, and local grocers nearby. Many in our group had never spent time in New England and found the Plainfield House a fantastic home base for exploring and enjoying all the area has to offer.

  • We used this lovely house as our base of operation for a local music festival in North Adams. Didn't have much opportunity to explore Plainfield and the surrounding towns, but Molly and Perry have made sure that everything you need is there, from books to games to instruments! We look forward to visiting again.

  • Cute and cozy house set deep into the stunning countryside of The Berkshires. Farms and hills abound. A well-equipped kitchen, lovely gazebo (to keep the bugs at bay), nice fireplace, 3+ bedrooms, great showers with plenty of hot water. All very good. But the real gem is backyard! A "pond"-- more of a small lake -- with busy beavers, birds and deer. And a row boat to explore. And then myriad state park hiking trails right off the property! Take a trail run to a tucked away 19th century private graveyard, or an abanded apple orchard. A very special spot in MA. We'll be back.

I'm a freelancer writer/researcher living and working in Berlin but commuting back and forth to the states. I love this city, ask me for my favorite spots! I love traveling, seeing bands live, baking, gardening and dabbling in amateur photography. In November 2011 our lives changed forever when our son was born. He is a monstrous eater, but his cuteness makes up for any of the screaming he does! We love being parents and can't wait to travel the world with him and teach him many languages.
