We loved our stay here with Chiquitin and his family. We chose the full board option as there are no shops around to eat food at. The lunches and dinners were very delicious. We loved the relaxing vibe of his place and couldn't recommend this place more!

Chiquitín and Evaline (I hope I spell the name correctly) are great hosts. We felt immediately at home. The cottage is beautiful, surrounded by garden with birds chirping all day long. We received good care with delicious food from breakfast to dinner. We also made good friends with Artos-the family dog who came to be cuddled from time to time while we relaxed in hammocks. Good times. It also felt like a truly unique Airbnb experience as you get to be close to the family but still in your own peace. We can 100 % recommend this place. The national park is at your doorstep - we did several long walks to the sand dunes and surrounding forest. Be mindful though, it is not very well maintained so it is a little difficult to find paths inside the forest. Also hiking is mainly in the sand so be patient. We found a little side track, on the right side, before the dunes, can recommend it. Oh, and a tip about getting there. Download an Easytaxi app- from Santa Cruz to entrance of the park bargain 42 bobs. And bring water as there is none available to buy! All in all don't miss out on this place- it is a peaceful getaway from busy city life- a big thank you for our hosts.

Chiquitin means 'the little', but please believe us, nothing about this man and the place where he lives is 'little'. It is great and unique! To begin, you have the regional park with the dunes where the cottage is located. Chiquitin build it himself, with a lot of love and patience and everything fits in very well: it looked and felt like a small house in a fairy tail. The garden is beautiful and you can really make nice walks in the nature, we saw a lot of birds. Afterwards it is nice to relax in the hamrocks. Chiquitin offers you also half or full board and we would highly recommend it. The wonderful Evaline prepares the best food we had in Bolivia: a magical paella, fresh juices, fried banana, tender meat... These people share everything they have with you: great stories, big history, excellent food and very warm hearts. Do yourself a pleasure and stay here for some days: it is the ideal place to relax and talk and making friends.

To begin with, what a beautiful paradise. In a national park, surrounded by beautiful flora and fauna, birds, butterflies and the resident dogs and cat. Chiquitín is very accommodating and loves to talk about the nature around, and has lots of stories to tell. The breakfast is fantastic, everything that you could possibly want in the morning. The dinners prepared by Evelyn are delicious, Chiquitín makes sure to ask if you have any dietary requirements. If you decide to half board like we did, it would be wise to bring some snacks and fruit, but throughout the day Chiquitín brings refreshments like tea or fresh fruit water. A truly lovely and relaxing stay, one that we would readily have again

Highly recommend this place..best find in Santa Cruz. I have lived in Santa Cruz for 3 years and have often looked for out of town retreats. My boyfriend and I were blown away when Chiquitin greeted us at the Lomas Arenas entrance in his desert red truck and took us to his amazing plot of land. The land is impeccable…with waddling ducks, beautiful dogs and foliage galore. The cottage is one of the quaintest places I have ever stayed…attention to every detail…from hammocks to books on the surrounding environment. Chiquitin made us feel right at home with a fresh flowers sitting in the room. We spent two days exploring the neighboring sand dunes full of Chiquitin. We liked it so much that we will return. If you want an oasis to getaway from the crowd of Santa Cruz and see some of the prettiest of Bolivian landscapes…this is the place. It is beyond charming….

This place is a little piece of heaven! First of all, the location is exceptional: it's inside a regional park where the tropical forest meets some dry sand dunes, so the plants, landscape and animals are like nowhere else - just sitting on the property listening to the birds is great entertainment for a day. Then Chiquitín is a warm and gracious host, who clearly loves to share the pleasure of where he lives, and Evalina cooks delicious food. And the house itself--which Chiquitín built himself, along with the house he lives in--is beautiful and fits perfectly, especially the shaded porch with hammocks for when it gets too hot. It's a relatively long journey into town, so not the right place for seeing Santa Cruz city from, but we had a wonderful, memorable stay just spending time in the park itself and are telling our friends to do the same. A previous review mentioned money disappearing from bags - Chiquitín has added a lock to the door and we had no problems.

Our plane was rerouted to Santa Cruz so instead of waiting around in the airport all day, we decided to head to Chiquitin's little slice of paradise. After our taxi driver found the front gate, we were greeted by Chiquitin in his Land Rover, with a big smile on his face. He drove us back to his property where we were met with cold glasses of pineapple (rind) juice, then spent the afternoon relaxing in the hammocks and exploring the sand dunes. Since the property is so far from town, I highly recommend having at least 1/2 board (if you eat vegetarian, give a heads up - Evelyn is more than willing to accommodate and made me a delicious vegetable-heavy feast) (my husband went with the meat option and was more than satisfied). We wound up falling asleep around 8PM and slept for nearly 12 hours straight, then woke the next morning to the rooster and enjoyed yet another delicious meal - this time comprised of fresh fruit, eggs, bread, jams, and tea/coffee. Unfortunately we only had one day to spend at Chiquitin's, but I dream of coming back and staying for a few more. Before we left he told us that if we ran into any trouble during our month-long trip, to give him a call; that we were not only his guests, but his friends (needless to say, I got out of his car with big tears in my eyes). He is truly a rarity in the world of Airbnb hosts and is one of the most kind and genuine people we've ever met. All that to say: you'd be a fool to pass up the opportunity to stay in Chiquitin's beautiful guesthouse.
