Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Enjoy a private and fully furnished guest quarters on a 305 acre ranch, 5 miles from Lake Roosevelt. Walk/hike, read, cook (private kitchen), help with the our animals , tour our orchards/gardens/woodworking shop, watch the sunsets with a glass of wine. Some of our guests enjoy romping through the entire outdoor areas while others just like to curl up with a book in front of the crackling wood stove.

The space
Private ranch (goats, sheep and cows) invites you to enjoy their private guest quarters. Nearby to Washington's largest Lake (Roosevelt), a public boat launch is just 8 miles down the road. We have a mix of forests, fields, and orchards/gardens all tied together with readily accessible trails. The guesthouse is very comfortably appointed with separate kitchen and bathroom, bedroom, sitting areas, and private covered patios.

Guest access
Guests can come and go in privacy from the Guesthouse through it's own ground-level entrance/parking area and patio on the south side. Feel free to walk the complete 305 acre ranch, or just down the 1 mile driveway or any of our groomed walking trails. Horses welcome, but no ATVs or dogs (sorry! -- we love your animals but have our own). Hang out in our orchard, barns, fields, forests or patios. We would love to give you a tour of of our wood-working shop or show you the ins and outs of operating our little ranch.

Other things to note
Our place is at the end of a 1 + mile gravel driveway. 4WD or AWD is recommended for the winter months. There are no services in Rice. Nearest grocery store or restaurant is in either Kettle Falls or Colville -- about twenty miles from us. The guesthouse has a TV and DVD/VHS player and a selection of DVDS and movies on HD, but no cable or network TV. Some Cell Phone Carriers do not have a signal at our location, but we have free WiFi available.

Neighborhood highlights

This is a very private setting with the nearest neighbor being over a mile away. Our place is a combination of fields and forest, some fenced, some not. We run cows on some of the fenced areas during the summer months and goats year-round near our barn.

My work: Retired
Fun fact: Recently delivered a baby as an EMT
I (Jim) am a retired Chemist-Programmer, now mostly doing professional wood-working and projects around our Ranch with my wife. Rori likes to quilt, reads pretty much a book a day, and has kept goats for over 20 years. Together, we enjoy travel, especially to Mexico and other Latin American countries. We relocated to Rice Washington after 25 years in Alaska, also having had a small farm up there. I’m also an EMT and Firefighter in our local Volunteer Fire Department (Stevens County FPD #12) , doing both fire and EMS calls in our district. Rori is also active in various other Volunteer organizations around our small community. We enjoy meeting new people and cooking for our neighbors.
