Chris and Susan were very helpful and welcoming. The apartment was clean and nice, with all of the amenities listed. The location was fantastic. We loved Bermuda and having a great place to stay helped make our trip more enjoyable.
We loved staying at this place. It was clean with all amenities as descriped. Chris was very helpful and the location was great to explore the whole island. Would love to stay here again.
I stayed at Chris' and Susan's studio apartment for a month in January '14, during off-season, because of a project I worked on in Bermuda. The studio apartment was perfect for me, as Chris and Susan's description of the apartment (both pictures and apartment details) perfectly matched the situation: their studio apartment is lovely and provides all amenities, and it is located within walking distance to Hamilton, an unbeatable location really if you want to stay close to town. Restaurants and a shop are close by (all also within walking distance), the neighborhood is lovely and, from Hamilton, all parts of the island are easily reachable by public transportation or taxi. That being said, I also cannot thank Chris and Susan enough: for all their help both with the project and with everything related to travelling in Bermuda, for their advice when I had questions with regards to how things work in Bermuda, for welcoming me into their family and home, and for making my stay truly successful. I could go on (and on) with this list, as they really helped me out in so many different situations - even on the morning I left, as my means of transportation almost crashed into their garden and had to be lifted out of the garden by Chris and our driver -, but I do not have that much space left :-) so let me just summarize by saying that I could not have picked a better place to stay, and that is mainly due to Chris and Susan being such lovely hosts! Should I come back again, I would love to stay here again!
We stayed here for a long weekend getaway from our 2 young children & had an absolute fabulous time. It was so nice to have a clean, comfortable and affordable place to stay while in Bermuda. We have no problem paying hundreds of dollars a night at resorts, but not in Bermuda! It's such a safe island, we spent our entire stay cruising around to different beaches on the scooters that Chris helped us rent. Because we saved so much in lodging, we had extra money to spend at a few of the great restaurants in Bermuda. Chris & Susan were terrific hosts, very welcoming & friendly, and always willing to help us out.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Bermuda and our stay with Chris and Susan. The bed was very comfortable, the studio clean and had all of the amenities needed for a great week. The neighborhood is quiet but the walls of the studio are not soundproof, so be prepared to hear some family activities in the evening and morning. If you are relying on public transportation to get around, allow at least 30 - 45 minutes to get to the closest beach by walking into Hamilton and catching a bus.
Our apologies for the noise. This is our home and as such there is the noise of daily life. Mornings for us start at about 7:30 and everyone is out of the house by 8:30. On the weekends, the open door policy usually means friends and neighbors over for drinks, dinner and laughs usually no later than 11pm. The good news is that the open door is open to ALL guests. If you want to get to know Bermuda, share a drink with the locals. More than likely it will turn into a dinner invite and in more than one occasion, a very long friendship.
There's a reason for the repeat guests! lol
When I arrived Chris was there and welcomed me. He showed me the studio and handed me the key. The studio looks exactly like in the pictures. It has enough room for two and has a nice bathroom. There were plenty of towels available and even a small cooler and beach mats.
Before my arrival Chris asked me if I wanted to rent a scooter during my stay and then took care of the reservation. I just had to pick it up from the rental place less than 10min walking distance. If you walk a little further you reach Front St. in Hamilton.
The house is in a quiet location and I slept very well on a comfortable bed.
I also got to meet their dog, who is really nice and friendly. I never heard him make any noise.
I had a very good time in Bermuda and would definitely stay there again.
Chris and Susan have created a comfortable and welcoming Airbnb atmosphere, and they seemed willing to accommodate individual traveler styles by offering the right amount of input and interaction based on their guests' preferences. They were eager to offer advice and direction about the best places to visit and restaurants to eat at, but were not overbearing. Their location is very convenient - just a short walk to Hamilton town center and not far from a grocery store. The room showed that they had strong attention to detail, was very clean, and the amenities exceeded our expectations. We stayed in three Airbnb's in Bermuda and this was our clear favorite.
Chris and Susan's studio apartment was perfect for our trip to Bermuda! The studio is a nice walk into downtown Hamilton, where you can take the bus or ferry to any other point of interest in Bermuda. Our hosts were both happy to give us tips on where to go, what to do, and how to get there. The actual room was clean, cool, and very comfortable. I would highly recommend their place as a quiet getaway!
It was my first trip outside of the country and Chris and Susan made us feel like we never left home. Susan welcomed us in their home when we arrived and showed us our room. It was the perfect size to accommodate us for the few days we were there. The kitchenette provided us with a place to cook up quick meals before we left to start our day. It was a great way to save some money and pack some snacks since Bermuda is expensive. A large closet contained bath towels and beach towels, sunscreen and other small necessities. We forgot to bring a small cooler to bring to the beach. No worries! Susan whipped it out of the closet and even gave us some ice packs. What hotel will do all this? The room actually stayed cool throughout the hot summer day so when we arrived back it was a relief to NOT step into a hotbox. Their home is only a few minutes away from Hamilton so we were close to everything we needed, very convenient. We definitely recommend to rent scooters to get around in because they are not only super fun but easy to travel around the island with. Ask them any questions you have about good restaurants, places to go and things to be aware of. Chris informed us not to leave bags in our scooter baskets because people will drive right by and try to steal it. He gave us a bungee cord to secure our bag in tight and then they wont touch it.
Overall, we had an amazing time sightseeing, exploring the island and enjoying the delicious Bermudian cuisine. Chris and Susan's warm, friendly and welcoming attitude made it a perfect package deal! Even their dog Bob was adorable and friendly to new people. We will definitely stay with them again and highly recommend if you are visiting Bermuda, Chris and Susan's has the perfect place to stay!
I have long struggled how to review Chris and Susan's listing. I may be a bit biased. We first stayed at this listing when we visited Bermuda over a year ago. We could not wait to return... you see, Chris and Susan have become life long friends. I will say the basics about the listing: It is comfortable (warm and inviting) great location (a simple walk to downtown Hamilton) it is truly a happy place for us. A getaway. A place that allows you to feel like a true Bermudian. As someone who has twice traveled to Bermuda and stayed in this listing, I will offer a few recommendations. First, Chris can help you get a discounted scooter rental. Go for it! It's so much fun. My partner and I like to get individual scooters instead of the shared. Consider stopping at the grocery store or bringing some lunch supplies with you. Food can be a bit pricey on this island. Save some money for dinner. Take a moment to introduce yourself to their dog Bob. He is the sweetest. And if it does decide to rain while you're there, bring a rain jacket or poncho. Rain can hurt when you're on a scooter. Don't stick to one beach, try them all. Try breakfast or lunch at Tribe Road Kitchen. SO GOOD. Also, take a moment review your host. I didn't review Chris the first time around, so I had to go back to Bermuda. I take that back... don't review this listing. It will give you great incentive to stay with them again. And one last thing. Please don't go when we want to go, we could never fathom staying anywhere else in Bermuda.
