An ancient watchtower in the Vallombrosan convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie, an historic building of the 14th Century, under the care of the Belle Arti Superintendency, famous throughout the Casentino area for its beauty.
The tower, recently restored, is a splendid starting point for relaxing days in the Tuscan countryside; marvelous hikes towards the monasteries of La Verna and Camaldoli, on the ancient trails used by St. Francis, visits to picturesque medieval villages, the castles scattered through the area, such as Romena, where Dante sought refuge after being exiled from Florence.
The compound is located 3 km. from Stia, an ancient Casentino town, famous for being the first to straddle the Arno river, and also for the manufacture of “Casentino cloth”. An hour from Florence and Arezzo, half an hour from Poppi, which features a 16 hole golf course. The National Park of the Casentino Forests borders on the property, which is entirely decorated with antique furniture. The tower is on 3 levels: a day room with a fireplace and room for 2 beds, a mezzanine/dining room, also with fireplace, which opens onto a magnificent panoramic terrace facing the Arno Valley. The bathroom and kitchen are on this floor. Upstairs, a romantic bridal suite with fireplace and separate entrance. The house has parking, and a private garden with fruit trees.
Parking, and bed-and-bath linens are included.
The sojourn tax and cleaning charges are not included in the price.
