Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Experience the airiness of life up among the pines. This unique tree dwelling, with its own private attached wood-fired cedar hot tub, is perched atop a 21-acre wooded hillside sloping to beautiful water views. Enjoy the view from the wood-fired cedar hot-tub or the king size bed--through a wall of windows. This treehouse is cozy all year round, especially in winter. Located in a classic coastal Maine village with Reid State Park's beaches and the famed Five Islands Lobster Co.

The space
Part tree house, part tiny house, this abode is called "Isle au Haut" ("High Island"), named after an island in northern Maine. The dwelling consists of two elevated structures connected by a rope bridge, a private attached Wood-Fired Cedar Hot Tub (we provide fire-wood to heat the hot tub) and a screened in porch.

STRUCTURE #1: a bedroom, with a wall of south facing windows affording stunning river views. Includes KING SIZE BED (or two twin beds upon request). STRUCTURE #2: includes a small kitchen and dining area with large windows for water views, a small full bathroom, and a screened-in porch with rockers and river views + your very own wood-fired cedar hot tub.

This treehouse is cozy all year round, especially in Winter. We've installed super warm radiant heating units.

Winter Visits: There is nothing like submerging in a warm hot tub during snowfall!

AUTUMN VISITS: Come stay in the tree dwelling in Autumn for stunning views of foliage.

KITCHEN & COOKING DETAILS: two-burner stove, sink, small fridge, pots, pans, dishes, toaster oven (no regular oven), salt pepper, 2-cup drip coffee maker that we provide filters for.

There's a charcoal grill at the dwelling, please bring your own charcoal.

There's a fire-pit for stargazing and s'mores, please bring your own fire-wood for the fire-pit.

WATER:
The water in our dwellings comes from our own private well. It is safe to drink and we test if every year. However, you might notice it tastes slightly of minerals/iron, this is due to the water coming from our own well. Again, it is totally safe to drink and shower with and cook with.

CANOES & KAYAKS:
Canoes and kayaks are available to use free of charge during your stay. You can find them and the launch by foot by walking down towards the gathering space, over the bridge, take a left and stay on that dirt road, past the boat yard and over the little hill. At the top of the road keep left and you will see the river and the red barn doors. By car put in 116 Back River Bend into your maps, follow that road past the boat yard up the little hill. Parking is to the right, then walk down toward the barn and the boat launch. Lifejackets can be found in the plastic tote by the canoes & kayaks. For more info on how to use them see the binder inside the dwelling.

YOGA:
We offer private yoga classes in our gathering space upon availability. Message for more details.

PROXIMITY TO OUR OTHER DWELLINGS:
Our 3 dwellings are located about 160-170 feet away from each other. All angled in slightly different directions for privacy.

PLEASE NOTE: as much as we love pets we have a strict no-pet policy in our dwellings!

THE VIEWS: Both structures have views down the large tidal Back River. In the distance you can see where the Back River meets up with Kennebec River just before both flow into open ocean and past Seguin Island (where a light house was commissioned by George Washington). Across the Back River from the land lie hundreds of acres of pristine conservation land. Part of the year, this tree dwelling will be used for the Seguin Artist in Residence Program at the Seguinland Institute, which is under development.

NOTE: We also have two other dwellings (both of which have hot tubs), check out our other listings on here by clicking on our profile and scrolling down to our listings.

Guest access
The space and the 21 acre property are yours. There are two other tree dwellings on the property. In addition, guests have access to adjoining 40 acre peninsula with docks, trails and cottages.
