Roomy and at the same time cozy Mid-Century Modern house. Views for miles through large picture windows. BBQ patio and fire pit areas for outdoor dining and stargazing. Very close to Park and downtown JT.
My priority is to make your stay in Joshua Tree a memorable one. The listed price is for the main house only which sleeps 6 in two bedrooms and a queen daybed in the living room. There are two full bathrooms. The 270 sq. ft. detached studio room with a queen bed, queen sofa bed and bathroom with shower is included with 7 or more people. For week-long and month bookings, the studio is included in the price.
This spacious and cozy home with great views is located in the heart of Joshua Tree Village just minutes away from the Joshua Tree National Park Entrance Station. A quick 1/2 mile drive or walk and you're in the middle of Joshua Tree's small downtown of shops, eateries and galleries.
Integrated great room and kitchen floor plan gives that extra spacious feeling. Enjoy the vaulted exposed beam ceiling, natural stone and gas log fireplace, two extra large comfy sofas, and queen-size daybed. In all this there's lots of cozy comfy spaces to help you relax after a day of exploring. Large windows give panoramic views that go on forever. The east facing windows take in the magnificent desert sunrise and a view of Copper Mountain. See the JT village lights twinkle in the night or gaze up at the countless stars and see the Milky Way.
Sit out on the front porch or gaze through the huge picture window for a view over the Village of Joshua Tree. The kitchen window and back patio look out onto rugged BLM land that borders the National Park. The back patio has a gas BBQ grill and a picnic table that's ready to go for your outdoor cooking and dining.
The entire house has been uniquely remodeled for a clean modern feeling while preserving aspects of the houses' 1950's vintage. Tastefully furnished with modern vintage pieces and artwork made by local artists. The roomy kitchen is well equipped with lots of cooking supplies and new appliances- gas stove, microwave and dishwasher. The kitchen table expands to seat 10 people.
Hi-speed Wifi Internet also included. The central heating and AC system heats or cools the house quickly. Linens and towels are provided. There is a high quality front load washer and dryer.
For a nearby adventure, just a short hike, is a not so well known place called Coyote Hole. There you'll find Native American petroglyphs and a small canyon with a natural spring. Coyote, bobcat, and even a mountain lion have been reported to roam this area.
Make your stay special. Come and experience all that Joshua Tree has to offer while staying in comfort at the Mountain Vista Desert Retreat.
My calendar is always up to date, so go ahead and book with confidence.
Good off street parking, Gas BBQ, fire pit area.
I am available at all times to answer any questions or concerns and I live nearby in town so I am quick to respond to emergencies. It's my pleasure to help you with suggestions of where to hike and off the beaten path adventures known only to locals. If you want to experience something special outside of the Park feel free to ask.
Joshua Tree Village downtown is a unique locally owned and artist inspired area. Be sure to take some time to explore the many interesting shops and eateries along the Highway. There is an excellent Certified Farmers Market happening on Saturdays 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM when the downtown is at it's most lively and you can get a taste of the local community flavor.
There is a bus line running along Hwy 62 with access to Yucca Valley and 29 Palms.
If you need any flexibility with the check in/out time I may be able to allow earlier check-in or later check-out depending on bookings. Check my airbnb calendar and give me a call or text. If the days are unavailable before or after your reservation then I most likely will not be able to be flexible as I will have very limited time to prepare the house between guests. If you would like to extend your stay, please check my calendar for availability before contacting me.

Interaction with Guests
The house and property are all yours. Your choice if you would like me to meet you for a house tour and to answer any questions you may have in person. I live nearby and will quickly fix any issues that may arise.
Easy access from paved street, close to downtown, visitor center, and Park entrance. Views over the Joshua Tree basin from property and through the living room 10' picture window are outstanding!
Centrally located- Easy 1/2 mile drive or walk to Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center and Joshua Tree downtown restaurants and shops. Park entrance is 5 miles up the road.
Other Things to Note
If you have interest to explore the area outside the park I have many suggestions including a 2.5 acre sculpture site or a tour of the homestead cabins. Ask me for details.
For security, the person making the booking is required to email me a photo of their ID.
I ask that you leave the house in as close to the same condition you found it. You are asked to do a basic clean up, wipe counters, wash and put away your dishes, take out your trash, put away any items (games, blankets, etc) you may have used, put chairs back they way they were in firepit and BBQ areas. Please leave linens on beds and hang used towels to dry. I will take care of general cleaning and wash towels and linens.
Absolutely no smoking indoors.
Most of all, have a great stay.
This house and experience was perfect. The house is gorgeous and exactly as depicted, and we enjoyed the beautiful surroundings inside and out. We spent the mornings soaking up the sun while having breakfast on the patio and a game of horseshoes in the yard.
Thomas was both a responsive and thorough host, leaving nothing unanswered or to question. He provided the smoothes experience we've had on AirBnB yet and we'd look forwards to booking with him for a desert retreat again!
The description was very accurate, and we had a wonderful time. Thomas' place had a real funky charm to it, and we knew immediately upon entering that this was a FAR better choice than any hotel in the JT area. The place was super clean and welcoming. The extra cottage on the side was also really well kept. High quality BBQ grill really made our first night fun!
Thomas was a really great host. The home is beautiful, my friends and I really enjoyed it. We were all really impressed with the amount of detail and care he put into the home. The kitchen is awesome and very usable, we used the grill both nights, and we roasted marshmallows in the fire pit out back. Their is a nearby trail, that we night hiked. The park is super close, id say like 5mins away. I also went to the Integatron (i would recommend this as well) and that was about a 30 minute drive.
Markets/gas stations/and joshua tree town are all really close by.
I would totally recommend staying here, it offers everything you are looking for. I've stayed at other homes in Joshua Tree that accommodate a large group of 7 but Thomas' by far was the most comfortable and spacious.
Thomas is a very througoh host, I would definitely read his entire itinerary before arriving- he offers some great tips! All in all our weekend in Joshua Tree was a beautiful getaway, filled with so much warmth, and a great break from the cold New York winter.
We had such an incredible time staying at Thomas' house!
The house is even better than it looks in the photos, and we would have hung out there all day if we could.
Thomas was very accommodating and made our stay in Joshua Tree such a pleasure!
We'll definitely be booking the house on our next trip to JTree!
Thomas was a great host. His home, beautiful. His home's location, perfectly located – Park access is just up the street, the town is just down the street and other JT activities are just minutes away. His commitment to ensuring our stay was awesome, genuine. When we find our way back to JT, we'll be sure to reach back out, even just to grab a coffee.
This place was even more beautiful then the photos depicted. Our group had a great experience at Joshua tree. Thomas was a great host.
Thomas was a super host: very attentive and accommodating. The place was fantastic: great mix of mid-century modern charm and desert eclecticism - on top of having every amenity or kitchen tool you could need. I would definitely book here again.

Desert enthusiast, photographer, creative person. I am a local resident and I love the Joshua Tree area. If you have questions, I'll gladly make recommendations about the many things to enjoy in our community. During the years that I've lived in Joshua Tree I've been discovering and exploring the many lesser known and fascinating locations and history of the area known only to locals. If you are interested in the more off-the-beaten path adventure I can help you with that. Personalized tours may also be possible depending on my availability. Contact me if you have any questions.
