Make your stay a ‘Joshua Tree Experience’ at the Mountain Vista Retreat. Spacious Mid-Century Modern home lovingly decorated with local art. Minutes to the Park and walking distance to downtown Joshua Tree. Great for groups, families and couples. Well equipped kitchen, BBQ, fire pit areas for dining and stargazing. Views for miles through large picture windows, get cozy by the gas fireplace. Record player, loads of records and a smart TV.

The space
Please read entire description before booking.

This spacious yet cozy home with excellent views is centrally located in the heart of Joshua Tree Village. Minutes from the Joshua Tree National Park Entrance and the Park Visitor Center is just down the road. A quick 1/2 mile drive or walk and you're in the middle of Joshua Tree's small downtown of shops, eateries, Saloon and galleries.

Combined living room and kitchen open floor plan gives that extra spacious feeling. Enjoy the vaulted exposed beam ceiling, natural stone gas fireplace, two large comfy sofas, and queen-size daybed. There's lots of cozy comfy spaces to lounge and relax in after a day of exploring or have a day in with the many board games. Large windows give panoramic views that seem to go on forever. The east facing windows take in the magnificent desert sunrise and a view of Copper Mountain. See the JT Village lights twinkle in the night or gaze up at the countless stars and see the Milky Way.

Sit out on the front porch or gaze through the huge picture window for a view over the Village of Joshua Tree. The kitchen window and back patio look out onto rugged BLM land that borders the National Park. The back patio has a gas BBQ grill and a picnic table that's ready to go for your outdoor cooking and dining.

The entire house has been lovingly updated with a clean modern style while preserving aspects of the houses' 1950's vintage. Furnished with vintage modern furniture and artwork made by local artists. The roomy kitchen is well equipped with lots of cooking supplies and major appliances- gas stove, microwave and dishwasher. The kitchen table expands to seat 8 people.

Family Friendly: I can provide a Graco Pack 'n Play, a child booster chair and a small step stool so children can use the bathroom sink. Let me know if you want to use these and I'll put them out for your stay.

Hi-speed cable Wifi Internet also included. 50” 4K Smart TV with Roku guest mode so you can sign in with your accounts. The central heating and AC system is very good. Linens and towels are provided. Included is use of the front load washer and dryer. Full accordion shades on all windows for privacy.

My calendar is always up to date, so go ahead and book with confidence.

I am available at all times to answer any questions or concerns and I live nearby in town so I am quick to respond to urgent needs. It's my pleasure to help you with suggestions of where to hike and off the beaten path adventures known only to locals. If you want to experience something special outside of the Park feel free to ask. Check my guide book and yelp links that I'll send with booking confirmation.

Location

Joshua Tree, California, United States

One mile to downtown, visitor center, and 8 minutes Park entrance.

Joshua Tree Village downtown is a unique locally owned and artist inspired area. Allow for some time to explore the many unique locally owned shops and eateries. The Certified Farmers Market happens on Saturdays 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM when the downtown is hopping and you can get a taste of the local community flavor.

For a nearby adventure, just a short hike, is a not so well known place called Coyote Hole. There you'll find Native American petroglyphs and a small canyon with a natural spring. Ask me for details.

Desert enthusiast, photographer, creative person and Joshua Tree hugger. I am a local full-time resident and I love the Joshua Tree area. I personally rehabbed, restored, decorated and lived in the homes that I now offer to you for a true locals experience. I'm involved in most of the local community activism, working to preserve the JT rural community character. Staying at my places helps support my volunteer time spent on various projects in the community. I am the organizer of the regional hosts group called the Joshua Tree Gateway Communities Vacation Rentals Association. joshuatreevra. and com. A few of the things that I've been involved with are that I've served 4 years on the board of the JT Chamber of Commerce as president, co-produced the regional Art Tours, and been in legal battles to keep JT local and rural. During the years that I've lived in Joshua Tree I've been discovering and exploring the many hidden gems, fascinating locations and history of the area known only to locals. I'll gladly make recommendations about the many things to enjoy locally. If you're interested in the more off-the-beaten path adventure I can help you with that. Personalized tours may also be possible depending on my availability. Contact me if you have any questions.
