Other things to note
Rotonda/Englewood:

Rotonda is a unique circular development built around golf courses and waterways in the Englewood area of Charlotte County.
You soon discover a part of Florida that is off the beaten path - unhurried, unspoiled and uncrowded. This region is often called the “gem of the sun coast”, and you will soon see why.

On the beautiful Gulf of Mexico in southwest Florida, Rotonda/Englewood is located mid-way between Tampa and Fort Myers.
Wildlife is abundant: Rotonda is a bird sanctuary, where you can expect to spot many varieties.
Its many miles of waterways - including the waterway that runs along the bottom of the garden – include otters, turtles and a variety of fish.

You might even spot nocturnal residents such as raccoons, armadillos and bobcats. Most mornings, a great grey heron relaxes on our fishing dock, hence the name “Heron’s Rest”.

From our own dock we have seen alligators, turtles, every kind of bird, and a family of otters has been seen. It is a sight, to watch a mother catching fish for her young as we sit and eat breakfast!

A photographers paradise! It really is a pleasure just to watch the wildlife in your own back yard.

Things to Do

Rotonda is a Golfers’ paradise! There are no less than six local golf courses, including four operated by Rotonda Golf and Country Club. For non-golfers, there is freshwater or deep-sea fishing with some of the best fishing in the world at nearby Charlotte Harbour. Other water sports, including boat hire, Jet Ski, kayak’s take you out into the Gulf and another world! Air boats rides!

Wildlife:
Bring your binoculars! As you will see (depending on season) from our own deck, every kind of bird, alligators, otters, turtles and so on.
A Photographers paradise! It really is a pleasure just to watch the wildlife in your own back yard. Few villas will offer the sights we see every day.

Beaches:
There are several breathtaking, white beaches within a ten- to fifteen-minute drive. Quiet and remote, they attract lots of bird life, dolphins, turtles and other wildlife. There are no big crowds, just plenty of white sand with wonderful shells being lapped by gentle waves. You must stay on to see one of the stunning sunsets.

It is peaceful here, but, if you fancy visiting somewhere designed for higher-energy thrills, there are plenty of tourist attractions nearby. Rotonda is an “away form it all” location, yet is the perfect base for trips to the larger tourist resorts of Fort Myers, Tampa, Miami, Sarasota or Venice. Finally, there are many major attractions and places of interest, including Disney, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens and the Everglades, all within driving distance. We can help with any advice or information you want on these.

Charlotte Harbour Area:

The wider surrounding area of Charlotte Harbour and the Gulf Islands is a collection of nine charming coastal communities surrounding the state’s second largest harbour.

Restaurants:

The area boasts numerous styles of restaurants, either locally-owned or larger chains. Renowned for fresh, local-caught seafood, many restaurants are at the water’s edge.

Local supermarkets provide a vast range of food and wine and deliciously inviting delicatessens. Inland to Port Charlotte, around fifteen minutes’ drive, is an extensive shopping area and mall with major stores including, a large range of restaurants and multi plex cinema. Further afield are huge outlet malls.

Theme Parks and Attractions:

Orlando and the Disney/Universal/Sea world theme parks is about a 2.5 hour drive. It can be a long day trip, but a stopover at a budget motel means a two- to three-day visit is within easy reach and the journey is very straightforward.

A closer attraction is Busch Gardens, Tampa - a fantastic theme park offering thrilling rides as well as one of the country's premier zoos. Being just two hours’ journey away, Busch Gardens is a fun day trip.

The Everglades, where you can experience air boat rides and see alligators, are within easy reach.

Hi, I am English, my wife American. We live in the UK, married for over 35 years we have two grown up daughters. We visit family in Florida regularly and now own our own piece of it in Rotonda. I jog and cycle to keep fit, my wife shops! We just love it here, not just the sun, but the whole area is unique, unspoiled and special. It is more 'old time' Florida, not commercialized. You will have the most relaxing, "get away from it all", time here!
