**The cabin now has wireless internet service. Yay!!**
10'x17' solid cabin with queen-sized bed, private bathroom, amazing view, and electric fireplace. View of Mt. Hood with breeze in the trees and babbling of Big Buck Creek down below.
We sit on 1500' of Big Buck Creek, just a short walk down from the cabin. The water is mid-calf deep so it's perfect for rock hopping or just following the stream.
We provide linens, bath towels, beach towels, dishes, and utensils.
There is a Tassimo brewing system with coffee, creamer, and sugar, and a mini-fridge for your cold stuff.
Access to covered grilling area with 2 grills.
Avid skier? Enjoy a day of skiing, a night at the cabin, and one more day of skiing before heading home. Avoid the traffic jams into Portland!**
With this recent snow, we are a snowmobiler's dream!
In the warmer weather, we are minutes from windsurfing and kite boarding in Hood River (6 miles to bridge), golfing in Husum (1 mile) or white water rafting (3 miles). Head south to Mt. Hood or northwest to Mt. Adams. Both are breathtaking. Trails and waterfalls are in abundance.
You can launch north of us, enjoy a ride down the White Salmon, and pull out at Northwestern Lake. It's less than a 1/2 mile to the cabin. We can assist in transportation to or from launch site.
1/3 mile to Big Buck Creek trailhead and miles of trails to Nestor Peak and beyond. Popular place for mountain bikers and horseback riders.
Two miles from Northwest Riding Stables.
Got pets? Let us know. Large driveway that circles around can easily accommodate RV's, campers, and horse trailers.
We are honored that the Guest Suite is quickly becoming a favorite for a getaway from Portland or a stop over for travelers from Seattle or Bend.
NOTE: The hot water tank is small--plenty of hot water for the sink but limited for a long shower. (recent guests' feedback was positive--just fine for a short shower) A plan for a tankless, on demand system is in the works. We have a large, clean, beautiful bathroom on the end of our house (where you park), accessible only from the outside. For the time being, this is the best answer for a long, hot shower. We will post updates as soon as available.
UPDATE: Just getting our third quote for on-demand hot water. Slightly delayed due to the 24" of snow that just fell on us.
Lisa was very accommodating and friendly host; even though we arrived late, she gave us a tour of the cabin and also gave us some great tips for visiting the Columbia River Gorge region. The cabin is well-equiped, very cozy, and in a beautiful location. There is a shower and bathroom in the cabin, and they have just fixed the hot-water supply, so there is plenty for a hot shower.
We would definitely visit again!
This little cabin is such a gem! It's wonderfully constructed, with nice choices for lighting, fixtures, and decoration to make the small space feel luxurious. And the view can't be beat! Lisa and her family were very gracious. We cooked steaks on the grill and took a walk down to Big Buck Creek. There was plenty of space to wander with our dog. 5 stars!
Very clean, beautiful view, sweet hosts! Loved our stay and would certainly recommend it! (phone number hidden) times better than staying in a hotel! Thanks, Lisa!
My wife and I had a great experience staying here, with our only complaint being that we could spend just one night! Lisa and her family were gracious hosts, and the cabin itself is a truly unique experience with an amazing view/location. Thanks Lisa, and we hope to return!
GREAT place! The room is cozy and warm, the view is wonderful and the hosts are lovely and very helpful. I need good wifi for work, and this place has it. I stayed for 9 days and will most definitely be returning. A simple, affordable, (almost) off the grid getaway.
Staying at this guest cabin was a lovely experience. My girlfriend and I found it very accommodating and nicely furnished, and Lisa was a very helpful and genuinely caring host. Not to mention, the setting is unbelievably beautiful! Staying here was a highlight of our trip and I'd be back in a heartbeat if I were vacationing in the area (and I likely will)!
The cabin was as described and our stay was very nice.
Really great experience! Lisa was accommodating of our last minute request and the cabin was beautiful, secluded, and perfect. The area is beautiful - we had a great experience. Thanks Lisa!
My wife and I had a nice stay. It was a very cozy and private room. I read on the description for this location that pets are allowed. I am allergic to cats and dogs and had a pretty bad reaction. For me, it was a gamble that I lost. Lisa was very nice. We had a bit of a last minute reservation (one hour before our arrival) and Lisa still made us feel very welcome and gave us a brief tour of the property. Chickens running around in the morning were fun (we live in Los Angeles). We didn't get to enjoy any views because the weather was foul. But we were still very happy with our stay. I just recommend you look elsewhere if you are allergic to cats/dogs.
Lisa's place is awesome! Lisa and her family gave us support with directions when my phone's map application was not working. The cabin was extremely clean, nicely set up, and it had a beautiful view of the mountains. When we woke up in the morning, we went hiking on the property and our dogs loved it! This was the perfect amount of space for my husband, myself, and our two greyhounds. Thanks for being so accommodating, Lisa! We will definitely be back and recommend you to friends!
