About This Listing
Private but not isolated. Think of it as luxury camping.
Why share your space when you can have privacy?

--access to grilling area. Disclaimer: grill is aging. Left 3 burners work fine. There is also a side burner that works great.
We sit on 1500' of Big Buck Creek, just a short walk down from the cabin. The water is mid-calf deep so it's perfect for rock hopping or just following the stream.
We are minutes from windsurfing and kite boarding in Hood River (6 miles to bridge), and tons of white water rafting (3 miles). Head south to Mt. Hood or northwest to Mt. Adams. Both are breathtaking. Trails and waterfalls are in abundance.
If you have your own kayak, you can launch north of us, enjoy a ride down the White Salmon, and pull out at Northwestern Lake. It's less than a 1/3 mile to the cabin. We can assist in transportation to or from launch site.
Two miles from Northwest Riding Stables.
Got pets? Let us know. Large driveway that circles around can easily accommodate RV's, campers, and horse trailers.
We are honored that the Guest Suite is quickly becoming a favorite for a getaway from Portland or a stop over for travelers from Seattle or Bend.
Grilling area, trail down to Big Buck Creek
Interaction with Guests
We love to meet the Guests at check-in otherwise we "wing" it. We've had a few guests join us on the deck for a drink & good conversation (super fun), but we like to respect the Guest's privacy. The cabin is separate from the house so it allows Guests to come & go at their leisure.
Private but not isolated
Public transit in the Gorge is anything self-propelled (biking, jogging, kayaking, etc). :)
Other Things to Note
You may be greeted by "Phoebe." She is a rottie/lab mix, very sweet, that we adopted almost a year ago. She is harmless, will greet you, and then leave you alone. For guests with dogs, we have 4 free range chickens, a rabbit in a fenced in corner, and some horses.
The cabin is detached from the house but if you need washer/dryer, just let us know. The grilling area is available for your use. No smoking. No drug use, including marijuana. Pets are welcome if they are approved first.
Lisa was very flexible with my arrival time. I had thought I would be late but was able to arrive a couple hours early and the place was ready for my arrival. Extremely clean and all new stuff. So quite, it was perfect for a good night's sleep. Only negative was completely out of her control. The area was experiencing extreme heat and although the air conditioner was turned on early, it was impossible to cool the cabin. A ceiling fan and extra fan helped and open widow at midnight made for a hot but comfortable night.
Just like most reviews say this little cabin was truly amazing! It is close to the main house, and the road, and about 15 minutes from Hood River but it felt like we were tucked in a mountain away from civilization. It really was an amazing stay, the birds, the creek... I love pines and the property is surrounded by them :)
Inside the cabin is really cozy and clean. There was a small fridge that we could use that had water and some drinks, a coffee maker, and Lisa brought us some other goodies the day we arrived.
Our flight arrived early and Lisa let us arrive early to the cabin. The bed was very comfortable and everything really clean. Having the bathroom right there was also a plus.
Communicating with Lisa was easy and fast ever since we reserved our stay.
In short, the whole experience was great and we sincerely can't wait to go back... we will definitely be contacting Lisa next time we are in the area.
Thank you Lisa!
We loved our overnight stay at Lisa's cabin. The setting is idyllic, the welcome from Lisa and family warm and friendly. The cabin itself is lovely, immaculate and well appointed; if anything the description does not do it justice... No roughing it here! It has been very thoughtfully and comfortably designed with everything you could need for your holiday stay. Lisa has done a great job of providing for all you might want. We appreciated the seclusion and privacy, which will make you feel you have a forest hideaway in the mountains all to yourself. In retrospect we would have booked more nights to enjoy the cabin and some more of what white salmon and hood river have to offer.
A slice of heaven. Lisa's cottage is perfection. Perfection!! Clean, soothing, beautifully decorated. I wished we could've stayed forever!! She was a perfect host, full of tips for sightseeing in the area. We went white water rafting at Wet Planet, just a few miles down the road at Lisa's suggestion. Such a great day/night.
The cabin and garden were wonderful. We had relaxing couple of days. Thank you Lisa and Charlton!
