We sit on 1500' of Big Buck Creek, just a short walk down from the cabin. The water is normally mid-calf deep, but it's roaring with all the rain we've had in December. We even had a few trees fall so it adds some adventure on the trail.
We are 35 miles from Mt. Hood Meadows and 25 miles from snow-parks, snowmobiling, and cross country skiing on Mt. Adams. Trails and waterfalls are in abundance.
If you have your own kayak, you can launch north of us, enjoy a ride down the White Salmon, and pull out at Northwestern Lake. It's less than a 1/3 mile to the cabin. We can assist in transportation to or from launch site. Even on our dreariest days, kayakers are enjoying the river.
Got pets? Let us know. We have free range chickens so please keep dogs leashed by the house. We have miles of trails so there are plenty of places to take your four-legged friends for a walk without leashes. Also, please keep pets off the bed. We recommend bringing some extra bedding for your pet. We do have plenty of "dog towels" for wet pets so just let us know if you would like a few.
Large driveway that circles around can easily accommodate RV's, campers, and horse trailers. You can pull up and park nose-in in front of the garage. The Guest Suite is 20' down the hill and 150' to the right of the grilling area. We keep our driveway plowed, but front-wheel or four wheel drive is definitely recommended on snowy days. There is plenty of parking at the entry to Anderson Road. We are happy to shuttle guests up and down the hill, too.
Grilling area, trail down to Big Buck Creek
Interaction with Guests
We love to meet the Guests at check-in otherwise we "wing" it. We've had a few guests join us on the deck for a drink & good conversation (super fun), but we like to respect the Guest's privacy. The cabin is separate from the house so it allows Guests to come & go at their leisure.
Private but not isolated
Public transit in the Gorge is anything self-propelled (biking, jogging, kayaking, etc). :)
Other Things to Note
You may be greeted by "Phoebe." She is a rottie/lab mix, very sweet, that we adopted almost a year ago. She is harmless, will greet you, and then leave you alone. For guests with dogs, please be aware that we have 4 free range chickens, a rabbit, and 2 horses.
The cabin is detached from the house but if you need washer/dryer, just let us know. The grilling area is available for your use. No smoking. No drug use, including marijuana. Pets are welcome if they are approved first.
