After living here permanently for more than 22 years, managing different Hotels in Cabarete and running the biggest Kiteboarding school for 16 years I know my way around here in Cabarete. I was a windsurfer for 20 years, did stunt windsurfing for German TV stations. In 1991 I was the first time in Cabarete for a windsurf vacation. In 1993 I had a 4 month break from a Film production and for sure I went to spent this Time in Cabarete. Being there for 2 month I got a fax from my production Team that the project is canceled and I decide t to stay a couple of months longer here in Cabarete. Well that's 22 years ago and I'm still here. Stefan Ruether, Stefan was the one to discover Kitebeach as ideal kiteboarding location and start the first Cabarete Kite Surfing School, in what was once the Bahia Linda beach, later to become the Famous KiteBeach. Kitexcite was founded in 1999 by Stefan Ruether as the first Kiteboarding School in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean. In 16 years Kitexcite taught roughly 16 000 students between 11 and 78 years. Stefan invented a better, safer and more efficient way to teach kiteboarding. He created the Radio Helmet for kitesurfing as a remote teaching system for our Kitexcite kitesurfing students. It's a helmet with a water proof walki talkie attached to your ear.
