Our recently built, light filled and spacious ADU sits quietly in our back yard and above my painting studio. It's an open, airy and modern loft-style home with reclaimed fir floors, shelving, vanity, and doors. The queen size bed has a super comfy natural latex foam mattress and in the loft there is a fold out sofa with a full size memory foam sleeping pad. It has a well appointed kitchen and washer and dryer for your use. I provide coffee and tea for your stay as well.

The space
The house is adjacent to our home. It sits quietly in the back yard and above our painting studio. It's an open, airy and modern loft-style home with reclaimed fir floors, shelving, vanity, and doors. The reclaimed Doug Fir wood was sourced locally and has the beautiful patina of time. The queen size bed has a super comfy natural latex foam mattress and in the loft there is a fold out sofa with a full size memory foam sleeping pad (Please note that the loft is not an appropriate sleeping area for younger children due to the stairs and railing). The loft also boasts wonderful views looking out over the neighborhood and is a wonderful spot to chill out with a book or watch a movie. The art collection includes works created by myself and other local artists. You are also welcome to come visit the art studio downstairs. The kitchen is fully loaded with brand new appliances and cookware and each guest is treated with coffee, creamer, and teas for their stay. We are within walking and biking distance to Williams Ave, Mississippi Ave, Fremont Ave and Alberta Street, and approximately a 15 minute bike ride to downtown Portland. Some of Portland's tastiest restaurants are close by including Eem, Sun Rice, Cafe Ollie, Matt’s BBQ, Por Que No, Jinju Pattiserie(recent James Beard award winner) and many more. Acclaimed brewpubs are also abundant close by. There are several bus stops within blocks of our place and New Seasons and Whole Foods are both an easy ten minute walk from our house so self catering is a breeze. Irving Park and Two Plum Park are a few blocks away too for both adults and kiddos. We have a bashful kitty, a chunky Boston Terrier named Pickle, and a leopard gecko named Ollie. We also share a backyard garden which you are welcome to hang out in as well.

Guest access
Guests have full access to the house and the backyard. Guests are also encouraged to visit the painting studio if I’m there.

The home is not available for commercial use, wedding activities including pre wedding meet ups/parties getting ready for weddings and anything involving multiple visitors to the property. Events, parties, business meetings, etc. are also prohibited per Airbnb rules.

Please note *** This not an anonymous vacation rental experience. It is not a hotel. The house is in our backyard and you will encounter us from time to time as we go about our daily lives which is part of what makes Airbnb so special. Our home is your home! We consider it an honor to host you on your vacation and will do our best to insure your comfort. We are avid travelers as well and love to hear about your adventures here in Portland/Oregon.

Other things to note
We are family/kid friendly. I have a 13 year old daughter. There are two parks within blocks of our place to take the little ones. There are also several businesses that cater to kids and families such as the POA Cafe, OMSI(Oregon Museum of Science and Industry), the Oregon Zoo, and The Children's Museum. There also kids bookstores and toy shops close by.

Maximum # of guests= 3 adults. Or 2 adults and 1-2 children.

The sleeping loft is not suitable for smaller children due to the stairs leading down to the main floor and the bed's proximity to the railing. We do have a pack and play and can set up a bed in the living room for smaller children who cannot sleep in the loft.
