Hawaii is part of the tropics, bugs and lizards that are uncommon in cities or other areas of the US are commonplace in Hawaii. Seasonally termites do swarm in the evenings. If lights outside are left on they will congregate on the lamps.

From the host

At the heart of the north shore.
The bike path with access to all the North Shore surf breaks and beaches is across the main road from our place.
Child friendly neighborhood. Children sounds to be expected as the neighborhood kids get ready to go to school in the mornings, play in the early evenings and on the weekends.
Everyone is very respectful and practice Aloha, we want to make sure our guests are the same =)
Some of the homes around us have children. A couple of them are early risers and can be heard having an early morning party occasionally.
You will be a minute away from the super market and coffee shop. Minor traffic is heard during the daytime.
Hawaii is part of the Tropics. Geckos are found in and outside of the studio. The occasional bug is encountered and termites do swarm seasonally. So if the lights are left on on the lanai you will find a bunch of them trying to get to the light.
Our property is monitored / treated (environmentally friendly) for termites and although none have been found yet they will be seen outdoors and occasionally a few will find their way into the studio. They are harmless to humans.

We are a professional couple , parents of twin boys (2014) who strive to live a sustainable life style and enjoy the outdoors.. Laurent is originally from the Seychelles and works as a land conservation ecologist and woodworker. Pollyanna spent her childhood in Mexico and has a masters in marine biology, she works mostly from home. Most recently we are both focusing on starting a family run business based on Laurent's love for woodworking. Feel free to check it out on IG as WastedWoodHawaii. Polly & Laurent met at Makua beach on West Oahu and have been on island since 2003 and 2004. We have a frisbee loving dog Lulu (ExtremeAirLulu on IG), 2 outdoor cats (Eugene white with funny leg and Finn) plus there are wild chickens in the neighborhood. We are also fostering Dharma, a sweet white and brown mix dog. She is sweet and clumsy. But we are working in getting get strong and healthy. We love to travel as a family, meet people, learn about new cultures, try new food and spend time outdoors. Our motto is "Love Aways". We look forward to hosting you!
