The Space

THE HOUSE:
This is a single occupancy room. Please don't ask to have 2 people :)
This beautiful, casual, historic house is the oldest and best example of the Craftsman style of architecture found in the village of Seaside on the Monterey Peninsula. Built in 1910 by the Phelps family and located on a half-acre property, surrounded by organic gardens with private, gated parking, this property has views of Monterey Bay. Seaside is considered to be the sunniest place on the Bay.

AVAILABLE :
The "CROWS NEST" of our historic Craftsman house - it was used as an observation room during the war. Beautiful and bright with 180 degree + window views with shared 2 bathrooms (1 full bath and a half bath) in private home, a one person double bed (if you are over 6' it might be too short for you) with organic sheets, hardwood floors with natural fibre area rug, sitting/desk area, wireless internet, Towels and a spa Bath Robe. Continental breakfast featuring an organic and/or natural selection. Access to washer/dryer/iron.
Rooms are cleaned with environmentally friendly products.

  • Really marvelous folks and lovely place. It's very nice and reminds me of Irish BnBs. I left early and didn't stay for breakfast but the setup was wonderful. parking, access, etc were all super easy and convenient.

  • Great place. I needed a room during a study break. I loved the house... The room was exactly what I needed. The homemade granola at breakfast was incredible. Thank u!

  • I really enjoyed my stay here, the room was great and really comfortable. The house is very welcoming, with friendly hosts and pets. And very convenient for Monterey and Carmel. Thoroughly recommended.

  • I spent the most wonderful 4 nights in the 'lookout' room in Jocelyne, Jesse and Annemarie's beautiful home. It's the best nights sleep I've had since my arrival in the US, and waking up in this serene environment was just bliss. Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of meeting Annemarie, and only met Jesse on my last day... but Jocelyne was the loveliest, kindest and warmest soul who made me feel instantly at home, like an old (or new) friend! And I also had the pleasure of meeting her friend Hal over breakfast whom I could have talked to forever...this guys had some life! She also very kindly leant me her bike which was a blessing, as not having a car I was able to easily head into Monterey and bike around the stunning peninsula. Bus routes are also easily accessible. The room, house and tranquil garden itself was just (maybe even better) than I expected (people have already mentioned the home made cookies that await you right?!) And breakfast around the dining table with other guests was very homely. I would definitely recommend staying here...if not, you'd be seriously missing out on something very special!

  • Annemarie, Jesse & Jocelyne have created such a warm inviting and clean place to stay. I had the pleasure of staying with them for 2 weeks and they were very accommodating and we even had a Bon fire & movie one night in their gorgeous yard. The convenience of the bus stop (just outside their house) was incredible and they even accommodated coffee to go in the morning on my way to training. I would definitely stay there again, in fact I think they might have ruined all future airbnb stays because they were so wonderful. Highly recommend them !

  • The whole family pitched in to make this a fine travel experience. Everyone was so friendly you did not want to leave after breakfast.

  • When I travel for pleasure my wife and I stay in pretty expensive B&Bs but this trip was by myself and strictly business so I was using AirBnB to get some modest accommodations. However, the Historic Landmark House is much more like a real Bed and Breakfast than the "extra bedrooms" that I usually rent while on business. In fact I plan to take my wife there the next time we are gong to Monterey. The home is on top of a hill with great views. It has a off street parking inside of it's redwood fenced in estate. The Gardens are lovely. The only thing less than great is the neighborhood, maybe that is why it is such a bargain. Annemarie and Jesse are great hosts.

  • Excellent in every way.

The service was wonderful. Room was great. Only about 10-15 minutes from the Monterey airport. Was there for a golf tournament at Bayonet and Blackhorse which is only 5 minutes away.
