Mountain and park views

Soak up the views during your stay.
Come and spend some time(lessness) in a luxurious, hand-crafted, eco-friendly, lovingly-made Mongolian yurt located deep in the heart of spectacular woodland with cork oaks, chesnut trees, pines and olive trees surrounded by rolling green mountains.

If you want to deeply connect with nature and yourself(ves) , this is the place for you.

Our home is set in the exquisitely beautiful, magical and pristine Valle del Genal south of Ronda.

The space
Our lovely and welcoming home in the woods is an organic lavender and olive farm in what we consider to be the most beautiful area of Andalusia. You will be surrounded by trees, mountains and good vibes. There are two streams on either side of the property and even a waterfall from October to May!

There are countless spots to sit and contemplate the breathtaking views and many trails to explore. There is lots of birdlife and no dangerous animals.

The yurt is very large (6 metres in diametre) and tastefully decorated with an eclectic mix of Asian and Moroccan furnishings and gentle lighting.

The large double bed is extremely comfortable and we provide 100% cotton sheets and a feather duvet and blankets when the weather is cooler. We have just bought a top of the range all natural pocket spring mattress made of bamboo and hemp which provides exceptional sleep. It provides support and alignment and has a feature to relieve pressure points and promote healthy spinal alignment resulting in a more comfortable and restful sleep experience.

Dupen has a social and environmental commitment to help preserve the planet and use recycled materials to contribute to sustainability. It has the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificate which is the world's leading eco label for certifying that textiles are free of harmful substances.

There is a chest of drawers for your clothes and outdoor seating.

There is a beautiful outdoor bathroom with hot water when needed for a shower. There is an eco toilet.

The yurt has its own private access and parking so you can come and go as you please.

Meals here are often a highlight of our guests' stay - delicious, healthy food which can be traditionally Spanish, Asian-inspired and international and is principally vegetarian although we also love fresh, locally-sourced fish and organic, home-grown fruits and vegetables.

Nacho, my husband, trained in catering at the renowned 'La Consula' where Hemingway lived and members of the Royal Family and other notables have sampled local delicacies. Nacho has twenty years of experience in the catering and hotel industry as a maitre d' in 5 star hotels and Michelin-starred retaurants and is a fabulous (and very friendly) cook.

Breakfast has a small additional cost and depending on what you would like (fruit salad, smoothies, yoghurt, a traditional Andaluz breakfast, eggs (poached, boiled or fried), porridge, cereal, toast and homemade marmalade etc. etc.) costs between €4 and €8.

We can happily provide you with other meals as well depending on your preferences and lunch and supper generally costs between €10 and €15 depending on what appeals to you.

Nacho also offers cookery classes and wine-tasting sessions.

We are incredibly happy here and feel like we are living in a paradise and often have people come to stay who just revel in their time here.

We have a beautiful yoga and meditation space and you can do your practice on your own or guided by me for a small additional cost.

I am a very experienced and fully qualified therapist and can give massage and reflexology treatments in the treatment room here. Please let me know in advance if you'd like to book in a massage or reflexology session to make your stay here even more extra special!!

If you would like to organise your very own personalised retreat for yourself or a small number of people, we would be delighted to help put this together for you.

We love meeting new people and have been called excellent hosts. You can be as social or reclusive as you like - there is plenty of space to just hang out in, read, paint etc..

It is a beautiful retreat space and we have hosted workshops on yoga, meditation, photography, permaculture, Spanish language and cuisine, art, flower remedies etc.. We are very respectful of others' views and won't force any of this on you, though, if that's not your thing...

We speak Spanish, English and French.

Please note, guests often wish they could stay for longer to really be able to make the most of relaxing on the farm and getting to know the local area so please bear that in mind when you book.

We have a friendly cat and two dogs who are a sheer delight and very sweet and loving.

We hope to see you! Enjoy and happy travels!

Guest access
We offer free parking, and there is also free parking in Algatocín. Our estate is a 12–15-minute walk from the village along a beautiful woodland path.
There is another unpaved track for vehicles leading to our home. It is easily accessible in a standard car.
We can also arrange pick-ups and drop-offs in the village. We can also arrange transfers to and from the airport, Ronda and Estepona.

Other things to note
Our yurt and our land is most enjoyed by dynamic people who truly respect and enjoy nature, feel comfortable with animals and who have a sense of adventure and fun.

The most beautiful way to arrive is by walking here from the village and we can arrange to bring your luggage down by car. However, most guests prefer to drive here so they can have their car at hand to be as spontaneous as possible iin terms of discovering the beautiful surrounding area.

Where you’ll be

Algatocín, Malaga, Spain

This area is a hidden gem in Andalusia, practically undiscovered even by many Spaniards and as a result it retains enormous charm.

We are 45 minutes from Ronda, Trip Adviser's No. 1 destination in Spain. Not to be missed! And where we live is even more beautiful than Ronda!!! And not touristic at all - an undiscovered very, very special gem of an area.

There are a number of extremely attractive, totally authentic white villages nearby each with its different ambience - some more known for their art (Gaucin and Genalguacil), others for their flamenco (Benarraba and Jimena).

We can make many recommendations for walks, restaurants and cafes, beaches, caves, visits to vineyards etc etc.

We are only 40 minutes from Estepona, a lovely unspoiled seaside town full of charm and character. You can drive easily to the beaches of the Mediterranean and the Costa de Sol and we are 1.5 hours from the more wild, white sandy Atlantic beaches of the beautiful Costa de Luz, Tarifa for kitesurfing and a fantastic atmosphere, Vejer de la Frontera and Cadiz, the oldest port in Western Europe.

Our new home is 1.5 hours from Malaga Airport, 40 minutes from Gibraltar airport and 2 hours from Jerez de la Frontera airport.

My work: Reflexology and Thai Yoga Massage Therapist and Interpreter and Translater
I am an experienced interpreter, reflexologist and Thai Yoga Massage therapist originally from Ireland but I have lived in Tanzania, East Africa, Bermuda, England, India, France and Colombia and have travelled extensively in several continents. My husband, Nacho, is from Malaga and has worked for over 20 years in the restaurant and catering world and has been a 'maitre d' in five star hotels and Michelin starred restaurants. He is a great cook and excellent and patient teacher. He is extremely kind and generous. We both feel our best roles are those of service and doing what we can to make people's experiences of life that much richer and more fun. We are positive, intelligent, easy-going, fun-loving people who love open-minded, open-hearted folk, nature, literature, art, film, photography, travel, yoga, horse-riding and animals in general, hiking, dancing, music, great food and wine and all kinds of exploring amongst loads of other things. My professional background also includes working with young people in difficult circumstances, rehabilitation of street children and those with alcohol and drug dependency as well as physically and sexually abused young people. I'd like to think there is nothing I can't live without but fresh air and good vibes definitely keep me alive in more ways than one! I feel totally at home here in Spain, am very well-integrated and love the lifestyle and joie de vivre of the Andalusians, their fiestas and traditions as well as Islamic architecture, of which the Alhambra in Granada, only an hour and a half away from our house is Spain's finest example. We adore much of Asia and many things about it, particularly its aesthetic, gentleness and food and equally love South America and Africa and much of Europe - so many great places! We love the old Celtic idea that every stranger is a potential friend and we live by that in our home and on our travels. We are very independent, adventurous travellers and feel blessed to have travelled the world as widely as we have and had the extraordinarily amazing experiences we have had, often thanks to the hospitality and generosity of strangers as well as the incredible landscapes and soundtracks which have accompanied us.
