Situated on the shores of Sambolo, one of the most pristine beaches on the west coast of Java, Rumah Joglo is just over two hours drive from Jakarta. The 150 year old, traditional Javanese Joglo, offers two master bedrooms with large windows facing the sea. The 1110 sqm seafront property provides for privacy, tranquility and convenience with a self contained kitchen, large grass lawn, and beautiful sunsets.
Within walking distance from Rumah Joglo is a pristine nature reserve with a unique selection of fauna as well as a spectacular waterfall where one can enjoy a refreshing fresh water swim. There are several walking tracks available through the lush tropical rain forest and the local fish market offers excellent seafood treats for a very reasonable price.
During construction we developed a good relationship with the local community and found trustworthy staff to help maintain the property and provide security. The house is fully furnished including all essential kitchen utensils.
The house caters well for children and cot and baby chair can be arranged. Our staff can also help arrange boat trips to the islands (sea conditions permitting), do shopping and cook food for you. We recommend the BBQ seafood buffet.
For overseas guests airport pickup can be arranged. We will book the car for you and the driver will pick you up from the airport. You pay directly to the driver and can also arrange to rend the car for additional days.
Whilst there is no Wi-Fi in the house it is very easy to obtain a USB modem with a local SIM card. Mobile connection is very reliable.
All guests will receive an information pack with further details about activities in the local area, what to bring and other information that will ensure you have a pleasant stay.
Look forward to welcome you to our house.
Love the villa, love the ambiance! Its extremely clean, suitable for a family getaway. But maybe it would be nice if there is confirmation that there is additional cost for baby cot since I though it one of the facility for guest who bring baby with them.
Oh, this is the very important thing, the housekeeper, Juhadi is very helpful. You don't need to go to restaurant if you want to eat, simply ask Juhadi to cook for you and the taste is oh my delicious, trust me since I'm a hotelier and I taste the food just like a five star seafood meals :)
But maybe just suggestion, since I'm Indonesia who often travel with family, maybe it would be nice if you allow the villa to accommodate up to 13-15 max maybe (with no add cost), because it is sooo suitable for family gathering venue, with big back yard you have, of course with some policy of course to keep the house clean, etc.
Hoping to coming back to seafront villa in couples month :)
Thank you Lestari for you kind comments. Just to clarify, the baby cot is not listed in our standard list of amenities, we have to rent it ourselves from outside. We do this as a service to our guests at no extra cost. Apologies for not making this clear. We could buy a cot. But having a cot cluttering the house does not seem practical as most guest don't need it. So we prefer to rent it on a needs basis.
The reason we don't allow for 13-15 people is that we then would need to explain that several people have to sleep on the floor. Many guests come from overseas and the property is listed on an international booking site. Hence, it would not be professional to offer a property with two bedrooms, claiming it can accommodate 13-15 people. Having a family gathering on the back lawn is fine though, you can invite guests to come.
Stayed here for 2 nights last minute with a few co-workers. We were looking for a last minute getaway out of Jakarta and Dewi and Daniel were great about booking us last minute. Juhadi was wonderful and helped pull together various parts of our visit; a great trip the market for fruit, seafood, arranging a spur-of-the-moment fishing trip, and arranging for an epic seafood dinner one night. The place was beautiful with the amazing beach just steps away.
The only very minor thing was that it would be great if there was a ceiling or standing fan for the common area in the evening/night when we had to close the doors to keep the mosquitoes out, it just got a bit warm with no moving air. The bedrooms both had fans though and we had no issues sleeping at all.
The villa is beautiful as the other reviewers say and the location really can't be beat.
We had a great time in this Villa. The house is very clean and well maintained. The staff was a perfect combination of being helpful and keeping our privacy. The kitchen is very well equipped.
The beach is close and was almost empty during weekdays. If you need a good internet connection for work, you won't have any problems, the 3G data connection was perfect and very cheap.
Place is beautiful.
We had an amazing time at Rumah Joglo Sambolo! The villa is a great value in a beautiful location. We had a wonderful time on the lovely beach which is just a short walk to the north and we enjoyed the sunset views every night from the living room and back patio. Juhadi the caretaker was quite helpful, arranging our trip and accompanying us to Krakatau, and even helping us prepare meals or running errands as needed. Great place for families! We will be back!
I stayed here for three nights with three adults and my 2 year old daughter, and we had the best time. The villa is absolutely lovely, a charming and total relaxing break from Jakarta. I would have loved to extend my trip by several days (believe me there's so much to do in this area) but time did not allow.
Pak Hadi, the caretaker, and his family were all lovely and so welcoming. They cooked us some amazing dinners, helped us organize excursions, and ensured that we had all we needed to enjoy our stay.
I'd love to return here. Really.
We stayed at Rumah Joglo for a week and were fortunate to have someone as attentive as Juhadi look after us. He will also pick up some supplies on your behalf (like basic toiletries, fruit and vegetables) because the villa is some distance away from the nearest market. The villa is clean and visually appealing, the kitchen well-equipped if you feel like cooking for yourself (but if you don’t Juhadi and his family will prepare some delicious local specialties for you, and will also prepare a great breakfast for you if you like!) The garden sweeps to an expansive view and is very peaceful to relax in, and especially great when the wind picks up. Come with the supplies recommended by the owners, be prepared for an authentic experience, go with the flow and you will have a good time.
This house was the perfect getaway from the big city. It was extremely clean, beautifully decorated, and so scenic and peaceful. We had a wonderful weekend and actually my boyfriend proposed to me while there! It was the best place to spend our engagement weekend. He couldn't have planned it better.
I had a great time and some of the best sunsets I have ever seen. The care taker of the house was a really wonderful person and I saw a part of Indonesia I would have never experienced with out him and his family. Thanks Monica
We loved our 9 night stay in Sambolo.
The villa itself exceeded our expectations as I don't think the pics do it justice. It was truly beautiful as well as functional.
Juhadi and his family looked after us with an enormous amount of care. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Juhadi has worked in the area for many years so he had a lot of good information.
We ate in for every meal (partly because the food was so good, but also nothing else was open, maybe due to Ramadan?) and each meal was really yummy - fresh crab, fish, chicken, veges - salivating just thinking about it. Breakfast was simple but good - fresh fruit and eggs.
We had a driver meet us at the airport and drive us straight to the villa - it took about 3.5 hours so bit longer than expected. During our stay we caught bemos around the area - plentiful and easy. We used a local driver to get back to the airport which worked out well and was substantially cheaper.
I guess the only downside for us was that it was close to a road which had a bit of traffic noise, not so much at night but during the day. Small thing though.
All in all, we left feel relaxed and pleased we had tracked down such a lovely place to stay.
