Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape. Settled in a valley along Red Creek in Cooperstown NY, only 2.5 miles from the Baseball Hall of Fame and Lake Otsego, we provide a special accommodation experience. It's like a private cabin in the woods (even though the cabin is a safari style tent). You'll also have private access to beautiful Red Creek for relaxation, exploration, swimming or fishing.

The space
The entrance to Red Creek Hideaway is clearly marked by a sign and two small white fences that bracket the dirt road. Follow additional signs to the campsite.

The property consists of two grass fields separated by a tree break and then the valley forest through which Red Creek flows and where the campsite is located.

The canvas, safari style tent, offers a bunk bed with a comfortable queen size mattress on the bottom and a full-size mattress on top. Wake up to the supplied coffee or tea on the deck with two Adirondack chairs and catch a glimpse of white-tailed deer that often wander down the trails in the morning. Inside we provide electricity, side tables, shelves for storage, free water bottles, a wood stove, a fan, and a small table with two seats.

Enjoy the enclosed outdoor comfort station with a translucent roof that allows the sun to come in, featuring a hot shower with body wash and shampoo, a sink with dishwashing liquid, and a water flush camping toilet.

Spend your evenings cooking on the gas grill or gathering around the firepit next to the screened-in gazebo, complete with picnic table and cooking utensils. Firewood and fire starters are supplied at no additional cost.

For a truly private experience, a wooded trail leads you to a deck overlooking the tranquil waters of Red Creek that meanders gently through the landscape, its clear waters shimmering as it rushes under a canopy of trees. The banks are lined with wild grasses and wildflowers that sway in the breeze. The steady flow of water produces a rhythmic sound—peaceful and familiar. In some places, the creek widens into sparkling shallows, where you can see crayfish and minnows, while in others, it deepens into calm pools. It’s perfect for relaxing or taking a dip in the cool waters. Dogs are allowed and encouraged with access to wade into the creek and plenty of room to explore.

There is a fully furnished office located in the shed near the street entrance. It has Wi-Fi, a lounge chair, a desk with a 27” monitor, keyboard and mouse. It is available to guests at $50 per stay. Guest access
There is only one campsite on the property that is yours to use exclusively.
We recently improved the gravel logging road so it’s smooth and expanded for turning more easily at the campsite. If you have an SUV or Truck the drive down is easy. We do it all the time with our SUV and park right next to the tent. If you have a small car with low clearance (we’re speaking mostly to Tesla and small sedan owners) there is a designated parking area, just inside the entrance to the forest. You’ll need to walk down to the campsite if you don’t wish to drive down.
