Sit by our salt water pool, sip rosé, and marvel at the gorgeous scenery of the French Riviera. Our cottage is a stunning jewel box that transports you back in time. With exquisitely designed Chef's kitchen, the only other one like it is in the Smithsonian museum in Washington D.C. Ours, you can cook in!

Built on the homestead of Simone Beck, by Paul and Julia Child. Beck and Child co-wrote the bestselling cookbook "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" Volumes I and II.

The space
This cottage sits on well-maintained acres of gardens nestled just outside the community of Grasse. Easy access to beaches, perfume factories, grocery stores, and more. A secluded estate of a few homes, just off a main road.

La Pitchoune's 3 bedroom, 3.5 Bathroom property boasts glorious gardens, and of COURSE TWO kitchens that are designed for cooking. Indoor AND outdoor. Indoor has a LaCanche double oven and stove (starting in September). Outdoor has a BBQ, a pizza oven, and a tuscan grill (wood fired stoves require assistance from our staff, and are not available in July or August). BBQ is available year-round.

Yes, the indoor kitchen still has the pegboard known and loved by fans the world over. The space can comfortably sleep 6 adults, and we have additional sleeping spaces (think shared sleeping mats) for children (up to 4 easily).

Please note: Some times of the year, we have space for an additional 3 people (for an additional fee) on the same property.

La Pitchoune was built by Julia and Paul Child in the 1960's and has hosted hundreds of famous food influencers over the years. In the 1990's Kathie Alex turned it into a cooking school, Cooking with Friends in France, and is now the home of The Courageous Cooking École de Cuisine.

In the off season, La Pitchoune can be yours! For new Airbnb users: La Pitchoune is not a hotel. It is a living, breathing home that is and has been used heavily as a cooking school and home for nearly 50 years. It is also an indoor/outdoor living space, with many many nooks and crannies! It is always clean as a whistle when you arrive, every surface scrubbed and whisked. But know that it might not be up to the expectations of a traditional hotel go-er. It is an old house, with the same charms attached.

Cooking classes run from April through June, and September though October. To book for the cooking school please visit our website. To find it simply search for "la peetch" on any browser.

Guest access
You'll have access to the entire house, the famous kitchen, the pool, and all the gardens.

The kitchen is marvelous, and is certainly a jewel! It is not a museum though. It is a functional, professional kitchen. And has been for years. Everything you need to cook is included, but nothing electronic. Just knives, pots, pans, baking dishes, etc.

Our property also boasts a gorgeous outdoor kitchen with pizza oven, BBQ, and tuscan grill.

YOUR RENTAL DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY COOKING CLASSES OR OTHER AMENITIES. We are happy to assist in organizing other activities, chefs, etc for an extra charge. We can organize yacht charters, chef cooked meals, cooking classes, pizza making, and more.

Cooking classes start at $1500 a day, which includes a market tour, French Chef Knife of choice (for up to 3 participants), ingredients, wine pairings, and cooking instruction for a multi-course, French inspired meal. (This is a biiiiig day! Nearly 12 hours.) Extra days of cooking can be added as well. Cooking courses, other than those run by La Peetch staff, are not allowed during the off-season.

Chef created and cooked meals start at $500 per meal, and do not include ingredients or alcohol for consumption. If you book, we'll include information on how to access our chefs.

If you're looking for the Courageous Cooking™ recipe-free school, it runs April-June, and September-October. To book the Courageous Cooking school please search for "la peetch" in any web search of choice.

Other things to note
You absolutely need to rent a car to have access to the area. The house is semi-rural, but only 10 minutes from many many villages.

There is a drop camera in the kitchen to ensure that the utensils of near priceless value aren't removed. The intact kitchen is similar to that of the one in the Smithsonian.

You'll be more than welcome to cook in the kitchen all you like! THAT is what it is there for. No footage will be kept longer than the duration of your stay. The camera is on intermittently only.

We make absolutely no guarantees regarding the WiFi. You may have it, you may not. 9 times out of 10? It’s splendid! But outages can occur, for days at a time. There is ample WiFi in nearby villages if that occurs.

What we do guarantee is a stocked larder for the first few days of breakfasts, some treats, and more. The owners frequently are on site, as well.
