The Space

Welcome to this comfortable double room.

The house is in the centre of the Spa town of Harrogate. We are just across the road, 1min. from both the Turkish Baths and the famous Betty’s café. The rooms are comfortable and quiet and there is a spacious bathroom on each floor.

For those of you who are exhibiting at the Conference Centre or performing at the Royal Hall they are at the bottom of the hill, 5 mins walk, or if you are performing at the Wesley Chapel it is 1 minute away. There is also a theatre, cinema, and numerous restaurants and bars within 5 minutes walk of the house.

Breakfast is usually a selection of seasonal fruits either fresh fruit salad or poached, with cereals and yoghurt, followed by scrambled egg and smoked salmon, poached egg and spinach, or boiled eggs, and then toast and marmalade, jam, marmite, or honey, really, lots to choose from!

First we are opposite Betty's, famous for delicious pastries and coffee or light meals, and then there are any number and a huge variety of restaurants within 5 minutes walk of the house. Dinner? In Harrogate? No problem!

There is a TV, internet, radio, hairdryer, and tea and coffee in all the rooms or by arrangement, and use of an iron and ironing board if needed.

There is a lane by the house where you can load and unload and then parking for one car by the house. If you would like to come by train, the station is 10 minutes walk away.

For holidays:
Harrogate is in the middle of the Dales with glorious wild walks from hilltop villages like Middlesmoor, where, it is rumoured, Lytton Strachey once stayed at The Crown. If you prefer a more serene splendour there is the National Trust’s Fountains Abbey where you could walk to Studley Royal along the water-side and back along the wooded banks, and the Woodland Trust has restored Hackfall Wood, a must for those of a romantic frame of mind. If you love gardens, the RHS gardens at Harlow Carr are only an hour’s walk from the house. Harrogate’s famous Stray is across the road for a morning or an evening stroll.

Check In
  • A superior room in beautiful Harrogate. The home is absolute inner city but a cottage garden is the first sight and from the breakfast room you think you are in the country!
I was very well looked after, being offered a local history book and advice on sights to see in my next destination.
The breakfast was a highlight. Rachel clearly delights in having guests.

  • I enjoyed my time in Harrogate and in Rachel's home. The location was central but quiet; the bedroom and bathroom were faultless, but with character; breakfast was exceptionally good. I appreciated Rachel's friendliness, her local knowledge, and her intelligent conversation. I extended my stay, completely happy and feeling at home. I could unhesitatingly recommend others to have this experience.

  • It was lovely staying with Rachel in her beautiful house, and garden. A real oasis in the middle of Harrogate. Very near to everything you could wish for as a tourist: gardens, shops, restaurants, and the international conference centre. Rachel was very helpful and gave me excellent directions and advice on where to go and what to see. A lovely stay.

  • Rachel has a beautiful house right in the centre of Harrogate, an absolutely perfect place for us to stay while we were attending a friends wedding. Very accommodating and she puts on the most delicious breakfast spread! Next time we're up in Harrogate we'll definitely come back :-)

  • Rachel's B&B could not have been better for a stay right in the centre of Harrogate. The bedroom and bathroom were beautifully decorated, clean, well equipped and comfortable. The breakfasts were lovely and Rachel was an excellent host who was extremely helpful and accommodating considering the very early starts that were requested by our party!

  • Lovely rooms in a beautifully decorated home located near shops and the conference center. Rachel was a gracious hostess who cooked the most wonderful breakfasts for us. I loved the fresh fruit and the coffee. I really enjoyed my stay and especially appreciated the quiet so that I could rest well before going out.

  • We had a wonderful one night stay at Rachel's on are short trip to Harrogate. Her home is beautiful and full of charm, very comfortable room (we were kindly upgraded as we were the only ones staying), amazing central location and, as others have said, a delicious breakfast. As my partner has to spend one night a week at a B&B for his work, Rachel's more unique offering was much appreciated - warm poached plums, fruits, yogurt and cereal, followed by poached eggs, smoked salmon and toast - yum! And above all it was a lovely stay as Rachel is such a helpful and accommodating host. Thank you.

I have two grown up children and three grandchildren I very much enjoy helping with on occasion. Passionate about the arts particularly textiles and Renaissance paintings, I like visiting places that have a range of period properties and ancient churches, the whole of history how it went and where we are now fascinates me. Politics too.
