Relax in high-style at the top of Beaverdam Falls. Sleep adjacent the whirling & calming noise of a gigantic waterfall & overlook the lower ponds & creek basins from surprising privacy and seclusion. Take a hike--no, really! Choose to walk down to the Falls or view it all from the Rope Bridge!

The space
The "Top of the Rock" campsite is situated on amazing ground! It's situated just above the largest waterfall on fabulous high travertine rock, but tucked away far enough to still retain privacy and seclusion from the main viewing area below, which is just a short walk down a gravel trail. The rope bridge is also just a stones throw away. This stellar site has a full frontal view of the main water and creek basins below but is not right on top of the falls, so as to be too loud or too visible. And for the most part you are nestled under shade trees and are at the best crossroads on the property to take advantage of all the views and sites.

Site is heated well by propane heat in the winter. 1 grill bottle of propane included. Additional propane for purchase: $30/bottle.

No running water or electricity directly at this site. Communal restroom, shower & kitchen are a short walk away. Site does come with a portable potty with disposable "wag" bags.

Guest access
This site is one of 7 sites operated by Beaverdam Falls. Top of the Rock is 1 of 2 off-grid cabins on the Property. This preserve is private and an exclusive property only for guests who have reserved any of our sites, & there may be other campers, or activity going on elsewhere by the Falls or on the land, as we are an active nature preserve. Most guests never see each other, nor are campsites visible from each other, but you do not have complete private control over the property through your reservation. Your booking only ensures that you have your site reserved. The property is open only to reserved guests, so there are no crowds.

Other things to note
This site is a former Tentrr Signature site that we had actively listed online for 4-years. This site had nearly 100 5-star reviews during that time. Tentrr has folded as a company, so we now control the listing ourselves on Airbnb.

Until September 20, 2024, this site was a canvas tent, but now a cabin has been built on the original deck structure. The amenities are the same as they've always been.

Please visit our site under our name, Beaverdam Falls, to peruse Property information, & to visit our FAQs Section.

My work: French Teacher/Entrepreneur
Speaks English and French
Having worked in many areas, I have much of my work experience & time in the service industry: managing at the restaurant level, and in events, & even at wineries as well. Although I love the service industry, my passion has always been teaching. But, I love working in nature, managing natural land, & restoring cars in my spare time. Most recently, I taught French in public schools, managed online learning programs in Richmond Public Schools, & I have my BA in French & Theatre, & my MA in French Literature from UVA. Born & raised in Florida, Melbourne/Ocala are both my home towns, but the Virginia’s have my heart! After finishing my MA & teaching French as an instructor at UVA, I ventured into ecotourism, camping & property/land management for my family properties. Currently, I operate an ecotourism business at our ranch & nature preserve, Beaverdam Falls in Alleghany County, Virginia. We operate glampsites through Tentrr, Airbnb rentals, among other things, & manage other lands & homes in WV and FL. I’m fortunate to do what I love, & to be in the great outdoors. We do not discriminate, & welcome ALL!
