House Rules

Pre-trip Arrangements:
- Please let me know your arrival/check in and check out times if they are especially early (bef 12pm) or late (after 5pm), for planning ease.
- I also allocate about 30 mins to be on site to check in guests, so do let me know on that day if your flight is delayed or you're gg to make a detour before arriving at the appointed time.
- I also expect to be checking in the person who made the booking, so please inform me beforehand if otherwise.

- Strictly no smoking indoors. I hope guests will appreciate that they are staying in a heritage home - which is made of timber!
- Guests shld be prepared to take out trash (food waste esp) to keep the place clean, separate recyclables and also wash up the plates & utensils they use.
- Airconditioning shldn't be left on when you're out, for no wastage of energy and to maintain its efficacy. Plus you'll notice the heritage house has a natural "cool" effect because of the thick walls and underground water,
- If there are other guests staying on the upper floors, please do observe the system for bolting and barring the traditional wooden front doors, when going in and out!

If you would like to spend your time in Penang by strolling the world heritage area in Georgetown, finding good places to eat local food, then I highly recommend you to stay in Sharon's place. Everything is in walking distance. Sharon is really helpful from the beginning. She offered us a pick up arrangement from the airport and gave the information about the price. She provided us with transportation options to reach her shophouse. Located in the buffer zone of the UNESCO world heritage site, Sharon's shophouse provides everything you need. It's a perfect place for those who love a quiet place. Everything you see in the picture is real. Hot water, good connection of Wifi, refrigerator, clean towel, soaps, shampo... Sharon provides all! Sharon also provides you with the map of important and recommended places to EAT! .... We tried some of them, and it was fantastic! For sure, I will stay in her shophouse again if I have another chance to visit Penang!

We had a great time staying over at the shop house and Sharon has been a fantastic host where she took time to explain to us on how to navigate around George Town and introduced us on some of the must-try eateries around Penang ! The shop house is clean , nicely furnished and is spacious with an artistic feel:) we shall return again in future !

If you want a cool place to stay in Georgetown you have definitely found it. The Shophouse is super central, close to town but on a quiet little street. A walk away from loads of great hawkers and cafes, bike rental, scooter rental, bars and backpacker joints etc. The flat itself was really clean and had everything you need. Sharon's mother showed us around and was very friendly and helpful, explaining the history of the place ad making sure we were comfortable. Also there is a food map of Georgetown which came in handy, nice touch! Can't recommend the Shophouse enough and I'll definitely return when I come back to Penang.

Sharon's Shophouse had everything we needed for our stay in Georgetown. The apartment was roomy, and well-appointed. Sharon was very welcoming and friendly. She was there personally to talk us through the accommodation. We would definitely stay here again!

Great location, easy to get around. Her food map is amazing- we didn't have a bad meal whilst in Penang. Very easy to communicate with too. Overall- great experience

Very nice location, many places to eat and see nearby, and just 2 minutes walk from 7-11. Also, the experience to stay in a shophouse in Penang is something special. The procedures to lock the doors can be a little tedious (it is a traditional shophouse), but I think it is part of the experience. The host Sharon wasn't available, but her mother welcomed me and showed me around, she also helped me book a taxi to Butterworth train station (too early for the ferry). Overall, nice stay!

I've lived in Malaysia, Singapore, the US, UK and parts of Europe. I'm a writer and have authored a travel book on Malaysia. As a traveller, I believe in a more "authentic" experience and getting a sense of the local way of life. That's why the Airbnb hosting appeals to me.
