Warm woods, stonework, vaulted ceiling with skylights, fine cabinets, enormous granite kitchen island, Wii, wrap-around deck, and (2) Jacuzzi tubs make this much more than a cabin. Bring your family and friends with plenty of room to spread out.

The space
Luxurious four bedroom plus game room, THREE full baths, sunroom/office, hot tub, spacious decks, master suite with Jacuzzi, 2nd bath with Jacuzzi, laundry, open (social) kitchen with modern appliances, screened porch with gas grill, and fine furnishings throughout.

Great set-up for telecommuting if you can only manage a working vacation. Wireless satellite internet, speakerphone, computer desk, and office chair in the private sunroom.

The property has private river beach access to the Shavers fork river and is engulfed in trees, adjacent to neighboring 30+ acres of privately-owned undeveloped and open fields, and situated just across the gravel road from the one-million acre Monongahela National Forest.

The house features a stone fireplace, teak floors, vaulted ceilings, natural wood-plank paneling, wireless internet, 2 televisions with DVD players, stereo, and a 6 person hot tub. The kids bedroom includes a 32' flatscreen TV, Wii entertainment system (games available), assorted board games, Hot Wheels track, toddler puzzles, cards, and 100's of other toys and games. The gameroom has a card table and chairs, dart board, and water toys for the river. There are about 100 classic DVDs for various ages available for viewing.

For a cozy winter, fall or early spring visit, the house features a forced-air gas furnace, supplemental baseboard heat in downstairs bedrooms, and a wood-burning fireplace in the living room (a moderate amount of firewood is provided).

We want to ensure that this property is the right fit for you! This is our vacation home that we are sharing – we are not a resort with a maintenance, concierge, and cleaning staff – and our prices reflect that limitation. That said we have put together as many resources as possible to help you plan your trip and enjoy your stay as if it were your own vacation home. We also have tried to stock the house so that you would not want for much upon your arrival.

If you are looking for a remote mountain getaway and are willing to roll with what comes from a country vacation, you will be hard pressed to find a more beautiful spot! Here are some things you should know...

The loft sleeping area is accessed by a stairs without any railing. This area is not well suited for small children and any minors using this area should be supervised by an adult.”

In winter months, be prepared for snowy and/or icy road conditions by driving a 4WD or suitable vehicle. Having chains for your car in the trunk is another good option. It's advisable whenever driving in wintry conditions in the mountains of WV as the roads are often hazardous. At times the snow can be deep and it takes 24-48 hours before it is plowed, therefore you should be prepared to be flexible about travel.

The cabin is remote, so even in clear weather its narrow mountain gravel road can be concerning to those not experienced. Depending on whether the road crew has done repairs recently there may be potholes. In most cases you can drive around them, but there may be a few on the way that you’ll just need to slowly drive through. There are also no guardrails on the road, but it has several turnouts to allow cars to pass. I've been told that the gravel is not suitable for street motorcycles.

Because the house is surrounded by forests and the river there is plenty of nature to enjoy, but also to endure. Mice will occasionally come inside, and although we set out-of-sight humane traps to keep them from settling in, there is a possibility that you will see them during your stay depending on whether they've found a food source recently (it could be from a prior guest -- not your own doing.) We do, however, check to make sure that the kitchen implements are sanitary at the beginning of your stay.
