About This Listing
Grandma-style hospitality in a whimsical arty cottage.
A full-size bed in a private room in a cute little cottage on a quiet street, just two miles from the ocean, the redwoods and Lake Earl. Enjoy vegetarian fare in the mornings.
The cottage is at the end of a quiet street in an older part of town but close to the hospital and shopping. Guests will share a bath and may use the kitchen and laundry room.
I enjoy entertaining, and I'm happy to share my home with you. If you want privacy, I will accommodate that. I can also offer you a complimentary tour of Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park for either the tourist or the naturalist. Also, I will be happy to make you a vegetarian sourdough pizza!
Crescent City is surrounded on all sides by some of the most beautiful scenery to be found in the state, including the ocean, the redwoods, the largest lagoon in the state (Lake Earl) and one of the last natural, unobstructed rivers left in California (Smith River).
Finally, please note that the $7.00 cleaning fee is actually the Del Norte County transient tax that I am required to collect.
I do have cats, but they are kept out of the guest room.
My home is your home. You have access to the entire house and spacious yard.
Interaction with Guests
I like to give my guests as much privacy as they desire. I usually join guests for the sourdough pizza. In the mornings I prepare a light breakfast for you, but I do my morning work in my room to leave you to consider the day ahead.
My house is at the very end of the street overlooking a wooded ravine. It is very quiet and private, yet within walking distance of shopping and the hospital.
Pets will be considered and are negotiable. Please note that I do not have a fenced yard, and I would not be comfortable with pets left in the room unattended.
Patree, our kindred spirit! Sweet, strong and sassy. We felt embraced by our hostess. Patree enveloped us with her spirit, and then lead us to the Magical Forrest of the Titan's. Her home is colorful. Her cats are a hoot. I do have a complaint of how much she spoiled Kevin, and now he will be expecting this same treatment at home!. You can taste the love in the food she shares . We traveled to Crescent city from Colorado to experience the Great Redwoods. Patree made our hearts swell with joy and appreciation, with her knowledge and love of the Jedediah Smith Park. We would love to return.
I loved staying at Patree's airbnb! She is friendly, interesting, and a wonderful hostess. Her space is exactly as pictured - and then some. Patree is very creative, and you'll find that her house is brightly decorated, homey, and eclectic. The bedroom space was very private and quiet, and Patree lets you have your time to yourself, and privacy, and at the same time, is welcome to chat with you in the evening and morning hours. Her pizza - is to die for! Her recipes are tried and true, and she's a fabulous baker as well. I don't know why anyone would stay at a hotel or motel in Crescent City, as long as Patree's space is open and available. I know that I will return again - for sure! I feel that I made a great friend in Patree, and I hope to stay in touch with her. If you're trying to decide whether or not you should stay here - just do it!
Patree was the best host I have ever had during my time using Airbnb. She was beyond hospitable and made us feel at home. She made the best sourdough pizza we've ever had, baked us cookies and bread and we are so appreciative of that! Patree gave us the insider's scoop on great hikes in Jedediah Smith Redwoods, and we took her advice. We would like to thank Patree for all of her hospitality and we highly recommend her Airbnb!
Patree is such a wonderful host. This is my second stay with her. She is warm, friendly, and easy to get along with. She is a fabulous cook and I love and appreciate the pizzas and delicious breads she makes for her guests. I plan to come back next year and stay with her again. Thank you, kind lady!!
Did you read all the reviews above? Well, that's the absolute truth. Go there!
One of my best hosts out of a total now of about 2 dozen. How can you not love that sourdough pizza? It's a big one. She shares it with you so that you have plenty of communication having dinner with her. The kind of communication has always been one of the reasons I like Airbnb. She's a baker all around. Made cookies for me in addition to the pizza. Gave me recommendations on places to see. She has three cats who range from very friendly to a bit standoffish to afraid (because he was a feral cat never socialized to people). You feline types will get along best with the very friendly one.
What a sweet lady. Her little house is a delight of colour and time spent making it meticulously clean. Fun and eclectic , she is an enjoyable host with so much to give of her time. My knee was bothering me from a long day of winding roads, and she offered me a heating pad to soothe the pain. I was grateful as it was quite painful. An engaging host that goes out of her way to make a nice breakfast and then take them to the Redwood Forest and explain all about the history as well as show you some truly breathtaking trees!
About the Host, Patree
I moved to Crescent City from Ohio in 2004, and I have fallen in love with this beautiful area. I am an amateur naturalist with a passion for the redwood forest, and have been photographing the flora and fauna of Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park in detail for eight years. In addition, I have won a number of local awards for my photography.
I also love to cook vegetarian fare and bake cookies, breads and pies, and of course, sourdough pizza! I play the soprano recorder and also sing bass in our local community chorus. I enjoy gardening and am slowly turning my front yard into a flower garden. I also have an herb garden and plenty of room and desire for more cultivation! I love to read, and I'm currently working my way through the fiction section at our local library.
My lifestyle is simple and peaceful with lots of time in the natural world. I hope you'll let me give you a taste of my beautiful place on the planet.
