About this listing
Grandma-style hospitality in a whimsical, arty cottage.
A full-size bed in a private room in a cute little cottage at the end of a quiet street, just two miles from the ocean, the redwoods and Lake Earl. Enjoy sourdough pizza when you arrive and home-baked quick breads in the morning, all from my vegetarian kitchen.
The cottage is at the end of a quiet street in an older part of town but close to the hospital and shopping. Guests share a bath and may use the kitchen and laundry room.
I enjoy entertaining, and I'm happy to share my home with you. If you want privacy, I will accommodate that. I can also offer you a complimentary tour of Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park for either the tourist or the naturalist.
Crescent City is surrounded on all sides by some of the most beautiful scenery to be found in the state, including the ocean, the redwoods, the largest lagoon in the state (Lake Earl) and one of the last natural, unobstructed rivers left in California (Smith River).
Finally, please note that the $7.00 cleaning fee is actually the Del Norte County transient tax that I am required to collect.
I do have cats, but they are kept out of the guest room.
My home is your home. You have access to the entire house and spacious yard and gardens.
Interaction with Guests
I like to give my guests as much privacy as they desire. I usually join guests for the sourdough pizza. In the mornings I prepare a light breakfast for you, but I do my morning work in my room to leave you to consider the day ahead.
My house is at the very end of the street overlooking a wooded ravine. It is very quiet and private, yet within walking distance of shopping and the hospital.
Pets will be considered and are negotiable. Please note that I do not have a fenced yard, and I would not be comfortable with pets left in the room unattended.
Patree was the loveliest host ever. We arrived a lot later than we had expected but she was totally accommodating and had fresh pizza ready for us right when we got in. Our short stay was very comfortable and warm--more than we could have asked for.
This was a great stay. Patree greeted us at the door and although we were later than expected she was very accommodating. Her home is cozy and bright and unique. She made us a tomato, spinach and herb pizza and it was one of the best we've ever had (we even got to take the leftovers with us). We got up early but she left us out breads (delicious), juice and coffee. Her home was very inviting and conversation with her was great. She gave us places in the redwoods to visit when we left and they were exactly what we wanted (and easy to get there with her directions). Very happy!
Amazing host, amazing pizza and bread, and amazing house. Very unique, fun and vibrant! I would highly recommend staying here.
Patree was an absolutely wonderful host! We arrived after a long day of hiking and driving to a delicious homemade pizza. Patree had also emailed me a few days prior to our arrival to check what sort of pizza we would like, and went out of her way to ensure it was vegan for me. The location of Patree's beautiful home is ideal for exploring the Redwoods or venturing down to the Coast. Patree made us feel more than welcome and provided us with plenty of information about the Redwoods including a list of trails which had a description and their whereabouts. I would happily reccomend this accommodation to anyone. Thanks again Patree!
It's exact what's said on webpage. Padree is sweet - she reminded me a little of my grandma Sourdough pizza and breakfast breads were good. Her garden is dear and we enjoyed walking around it. Padree led us to redwood spots which are known to locals which were special - don't judge her dirty car as she has full heart of giving and showing
We would stop here again if we are on road again
Diese Übernachtung war ein einzigartiges Erlebnis. Würde jederzeit wieder kommen. Patree ist eine vorzügliche Gastgeberin.
Patree, thanks so much for the wonderful experience. It was the most amazing experience of my life, and you were a big part of that. Quinn really enjoyed you, and thanks again for making a dream trip a reality.
About the Host, Patree
I moved to Crescent City from Ohio in 2004, and I have fallen in love with this beautiful area. I am an amateur naturalist with a passion for the redwood forest, and have been photographing the flora and fauna of Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park in detail for eight years. In addition, I have won a number of local awards for my photography.
I also love to cook vegetarian fare and bake cookies, breads and pies, and of course, sourdough pizza! I play the soprano recorder and also sing bass in our local community chorus. I enjoy gardening and am slowly turning my front yard into a flower garden. I also have an herb garden and plenty of room and desire for more cultivation! I love to read, and I'm currently working my way through the fiction section at our local library.
My lifestyle is simple and peaceful with lots of time in the natural world. I hope you'll let me give you a taste of my beautiful place on the planet.
