The Yurt In The Woods is 30 foot in diameter which offers 700 spacious square feet. It is surrounded by trees, flower gardens and a kitchen garden that you are welcome to pick from. The yurt has pure spring water coming from the tap.

The Space

A long driveway in the woods leads you to a secluded yurt.

The yurt offers an unique lodging experience with modern amenities. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas range/stove and all necessary cooking utensils. It has a full size refrigerator, deep sink, Bosch dishwasher, toaster oven, microwave, tea kettle, coffee maker and complete cooking and dining equipment. The living space is decorated tastefully with an extra comfortable queen size futon(not your ordinary mattress). The bedroom space has a Serta pillow top queen size mattress that is well appointed with cotton sheets for your sleeping comfort. The bathroom has standard porcelain fixtures, as well as, a charming claw foot bathtub that has a shower. Cozy soft cotton towels wait on a shelf for your use. The bathroom has a big closet and dresser for storing your belongings. The yurt is heated by a woodstove. And, a Rinnai thermostat controlled heater lets you sleep through the night without having to get up to feed the woodstove.

The yurt is just steps from the Hartland Winter Trail system – cross-country skiing and/or snowshoeing, as well as, hiking. The fauna and flora of Vermont are plentiful around the yurt. In the winter, you will hear the hooting of owls. In the spring, you will hear the songs of the spring peepers. In the summer, you hear the beautiful melodies of the birds. In the fall, you’ll enjoy the magnificent colors of the deciduous trees and the display of mushrooms along the trails.

  • I loved the privacy & cleanliness of this place. A great choice for a couple or family looking for the comforts of home! This was our first experience using Air B&B as well as staying in a yurt. We were looking to stay nearby at The Mansion which was about to change ownership & the old owner recommended this to us. We had a great experience here & the owner has really thought of everything. You have a lot of privacy with the owners being the closest with a half an acre of woods in between. Everything was very clean & little helpful notes around whether it was explaining the composting they do to how to use the wood furnace.

  • The Yurt in the Woods is a gem. It's secluded, private, romantic, whimsical, yet somehow very familiar and comfortable, as if you've always been there and are coming back to where you belong. From art pieces to crystals to candles to books of nature and poetry and hope, it is clear that Angela has so carefully added personal touches to make this a home away from home.

In the twelve brief hours we spent here, we did everything the yurt had to offer. We slept the best few hours we've ever slept together, awakened by the beauty of a circle of blue beginning to glow from the dome of the yurt. We ate muffins and drank coffee for hours in the clawfoot tub, while breezes of lilacs filled the morning air. We used the ipod port to play our own best music, dancing our feet over the softest rug imaginable. When it was time to go, we spent our last hour outside doing yoga in the grass by the garden, and laying still on our backs on the patio, gazing up at the warm midday sun. No better time could we have imagined to spend anywhere else on the planet.

Angela, though we did not meet her due to scheduling, was so helpful in preparing us for our weekend. When we told her we were in town for hiking and the balloon festival, she gave us such good feedback on where to go to see the most beautiful things the region had to offer. She was just a goddess of empathy and excitement for us, from start to finish.

We can't wait to return "home" for many years to come. :)

  • Thank you for an absolutely lovely stay in the Yurt! The surroundings are so peaceful, and you have created a truly welcoming atmosphere. We were really happy to be able to use the kitchen amenities to cook a meal also. Much love from Boston / Montreal!

  • Angela and Jonathan were very responsive and welcoming. We will always remember our stay at the Yurt. I want to live in this yurt forever....We were lucky to experience a wonderful night of steady rain on the Yurt roof...We brought our camp chairs and sat outside on the deck...just listening to the woods and birdsong. The chairs also were handy for our campfire night. We loved cooking in the kitchen; our only outside meal was a made to order lunchtime sandwich at the Woodstock Farmer's Market...YUMM! The only regret we had was that we only booked TWO nights for the yurt...it should have been longer!

  • The Yurt in the Woods was amazing! My husband and myself and our almost 4 year old twins had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend here. The girls were thrilled by the round house and I was equally thrilled with the beautiful decor and easy feel it provided. We (email hidden)-op near DHMC for a few groceries and enjoyed meals in the yurt as well as at local spots. Andrea's suggestion for the Worthy Kitchen in Woodstock was right on, and the kids loved the King Arthur Flour cafe. Both were nearby. We wound up spending time at the Montshire Museum on two days of our trip, which I would also highly recommend if you have kids and it was also nearby. The property was beautiful and we saw a hummingbird, salamanders, beautiful rocks and flowers. The yurt is just an inviting and gracious space and we can't wait to return!

  • Although we didn't get to meet Angela, it is clear how hospitable she is. There was a fire going in the wood stove upon our arrival on a damp, chilly night. This yurt is amazing. So clean and spacious. My wife and I spent our 2nd anniversary here, and it is the perfect atmosphere - cozy and secluded. Plenty of towns and activities in the vicinity. Check out Hartland Diner for some amazing breakfast; we ate there all three mornings we were there.

My wife and I discussed making this a reoccurring place to stay. We definitely didn't want to leave. Thank you for the amazing experience, Angela!

  • We had such a wonderful time here. It was a deeply relaxing escape from our busy lives and so nice to spend a few days enjoying the woods. The yurt was cozy and clean and had everything we needed. The tub is amazing, the bed was so comfortable, and the wood stove kept us warm at night.

I appreciated Angela's thoughtfulness, which came through in all of our communication with her before and during our stay. She was very welcoming and enthusiastic when I told her that we'd be traveling with our six month old baby. We are hoping to return for another stay soon.

  • What an amazing experience staying in the Yurt in the Woods for two nights. My boyfriends 30th birthday was on May 5th, and I wanted to surprise him with an exciting weekend getaway that would give him both a new New England experience (he's from the West originally) and some much needed R&R. The YIW was exactly what I had been hoping for - in fact, it was more than I even expected.

From the very first moment we could see the Yurt through the tree lined driveway, we knew we were in for a treat. Pulling into driveway, we were amazed to see just how private and beautiful the property is. Surrounding the yurt is a large tree-lined yard, complete with a fire pit and sitting logs, a few small gardens, and a wonderful collection of Quartz, Granite, and Slate that were found on the property. We arrived a half hour earlier than expected, and after roaming the grounds I somehow managed to get one bar of service and called Angela (she remarked that I was the only person she had seen get any service at the yurt!). She literally ran down to the Yurt from her house up the street (which you cannot see from the yurt at all) and warmly greeted us. She let us inside, gave us a tour of the place, taught us how to use the wood stove, went over the binder, and then bid us adieu ("I'll come let you in, show you around, and then you won't see me again" - and she meant it!).

We made dinner in the Yurt the first night, and breakfast the first morning. The kitchen is truly equipped for all your needs, and I really enjoyed the complimentary coffee and hand grinder. We took baths in the claw foot tub, relished the high quality linens, and made many many fires in the wood stove. We slept to the sound of rain batting the yurt and peepers outside both nights, and woke to wind in the trees, birds singing, and the soft sound of the brooks surrounding the property. Truly heavenly.

We took advantage of the snowshoeing and x-country ski trails that abut the property - you really don't have to go anywhere to hike as the private trails in the area are just wonderful. I think we spotted at least 20 mushroom species and were amazed at the incredible quartz, granite, and slate bursting out of the ground everywhere. What a truly magical landscape.

The second night we ate dinner at Worth Kitchen - and worth it was! After leaving the Yurt we walked around Woodstock for a while which we also really enjoyed.

I would recommend the Yurt in the Woods to everyone looking for some peace, serenity, nature, and comfort. An incredible deal and experience. Than you Angela & family - we can't wait to come back.
