About This Listing
Short downhill walk to town. Located in quiet and peaceful neighborhood of Jaramillo Arriba.
Gated and secure with beautiful river and gardens. Safe parking for your car.
I have two rooms in my private home within walking distance of downtown Boquete. One room has a twin bed and a double bed and the other room has two twin beds. I will only take a single person or a couple at one time so they can have their pick of rooms and will have a private bath.
I prefer older single ladies or older couples. If you stay here you can use all of the kitchen facilities and the outdoor patio. I am centrally located for hikers and birdwatchers. An easy 15 minute walk to downtown Boquete. Neighborhood is quiet and safe. I have cable tv in the living room and fast wi-fi throughout the house. The room with two single beds has a TV with DVD/VCR attached. I have about 300 movies to choose from.
You can eat your breakfast (provided) on the back patio.
Usually in this neighborhood the only sounds you hear are the birds and the little stream on the property.
Great place to stay and gain insight into an expat's life in panama. Penny is a kind and generous host with a beautiful home.
Penny was an extremely nice, friendly, and generous host. She was helpful in answering our questions and giving recommendations. Her house is beautiful -- the photos here don't do it justice. It has a great large kitchen, tons of windows, and a lovely large shaded patio, and the bed was comfortable. It's in a very peaceful area and it was easy to walk from her place to town. We got a little lost driving in, but once there getting around was easy, and we were a close drive from amazing hikes and good food (try the fish tacos at Big Daddy's and ice cream at Fresas Mary!). Also the WiFi at penny's is extremely fast. Thanks penny!
Staying at Casa Penelope was perfect for our 5 nights in Boquete. The rooms were as described, with fluffy down pillows (my favorite!), our private bathroom was perfectly clean, and her house is so cool with a nice big kitchen, covered patio, and so much local art on the walls. We enjoyed spending a little time with her 3 sweet friendly pups as well! The house is in a great location, just up the hill from town, and you can enjoy a leisurely stroll to anywhere in town, though taxis are common and easy to catch as well. Penelope was so nice, going above and beyond by allowing us to do a few loads of laundry, leaving yogurt/fruit/breads for breakfast in the mornings, giving great suggestions on places to eat in town, sharing her market avocados, and even going so far as to give us a lift to the bus station in David on our last day since she was also making a trip there the same day! She has a wealth of knowledge, is very friendly, and seems to be the ringleader of the expat community in Boquete so she's involved in everything! I would highly recommend staying with her!
Penny is a kind woman and wonderful host. We got into David too late to catch the bus to boquete, she offered to refund us our first night and even helped us find a hotel so we wouldn't have to take a taxi. She left food out for us every morning and even let us use her juicer and pick the fruit from her yard so we had fresh orange juice every day. She welcomed us with wine and snacks, as well as letting us do our laundry. The house is nice, it didn't seem like anyone had been in our room for a while but it was comfortable. The dogs were extra nice and we had no trouble sleeping until 9am
We spent a peaceful week in Penny's home and enjoyed the use of her patio and garden, where many birds visit. The beds were comfortable and the area quiet. Penny is very hospitable and went out of her way to orient us to the area and ensure we felt welcome. The location is a 20 - 25 minute walk to town and collectivo taxis are easy and inexpensive to use, once you know how.
My stay at Penelope's place was pleasant. She made a really nice smoothie for breakfast and had coffee and toast. Luckily, I had to get up early both days I was staying there. For those that are late sleepers this might not be the best idea, there are wolves that howl around 5 and 6am. I also had to occur costs in roaming fees on my phone to contact her once I was in Panama since she didn't have any other contacting options such as text messaging, so have everything planned before leaving home. Also, if you are on foot her place is around a 20-30 min walk from town.
