Romantic cosy cottage & hottub in Forest of Dean

SamanthaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We’ve just returned from a lovely weekend away at riverdean! We had an absolutely amazing time! The cottage is stunning, and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well kitted out and we were able to cook a lovely meal on our second night. The first night we used the bbq which was great. The cottage looks just like the photos if not better! Very cute, cosy and well decorated. Upon arrival there was a welcome book with lots of recommendations and a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge. The highlight of course was the hot tub! We absolutely loved it and the views were stunning! We never wanted to leave. We met the dogs and ginger the cat - all absolutely gorgeous and so friendly. We also met Jamie on our way out, he was really lovely and easy to talk to, you can really tell they have put a lot of work into the cottage and care about the comfort of guests. 100% recommend for a romantic weekend away. We hope to return when we can!

Great cottage! Beautiful conversion. Nice and peaceful. Perfect for a chilled and romantic getaway. Loved the little detailed booklet provided which had details on how to use the amenities in the cottage and the details on local areas and places to visit. Very thoughtful! Would definitely recommend.

A huge thank you to Carolyn and Rhys for letting us stay in their incredible cottage. Carolyn was an amazing host who is very knowledgeable about the local area and was extremely warm and welcoming. Whenever there was an question Carolyn was quick to respond and even offered to cook us breakfast when the gas needed replacing. We stayed at this place for our honeymoon and Carolyn and Rhys made us feel very special by offering us a few little presents. Diolch yn fawr! The cottage was amazing. very peaceful and the hot tub was lovely. Incredible location for nature lovers as we saw red kites daily fly overhead. We were very happy with this stay, and will definitely look to book again in the future!

River Cottage with Hot Tub

OliviaRating, 5 stars3 days ago
We loved our stay at river cottage! It was so peaceful and the house was so cosy. We loved watching the sheep (from the comfort of the sofa) drinking from the river in the mornings. Angela was a great host and quick to respond to any messages. We walked round Hafren forest which was lovely (about 30-40 mins drive away) and climbed Snowdon (a 2 hour drive away). Also had a great Chinese from the village in Llanidloes. All in all, would recommend for a tranquil escape to the country.

Soldiers Cottage, with HOT TUB, dog friendly relax

HeatherRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We were so glad to find Gina's place. We only needed a one night stay and so many places don't offer this any more. We also have three dogs and it's virtually impossible to find truly dog friendly accomodation! We felt extremely welcome and there was a beautiful and generous welcome tray with homemade and local treats which was a lovely touch. Gina has truly thought of everything and although it's a small place everything is well utilised. We made the most of being able to have dinner delivered to our door and opted for the Indian Burgers, we were given the option of when we wanted it delivered and it was absolutely delicious and such good value. I won't be hesitating to recommend Gina's place to friends!

We all loved the place immediately. It was clean, tastefully furnished and yet comfortable. In fact it felt like home. Very well equipped and generous with amenities and also ideal for our 2 miniature dachshunds. The location was brilliant as we could walk to restaurants and shops without using the car. The car parking space was also a real plus. In addition it was handy for beautiful beaches and countryside. Jo is a responsive and friendly host and we will certainly try to return here.

The views the house are awesome. Views over the reservoir and the hills and the mountains in the distance. There is a real feeling of isolation with the properties location which is ideal for that getaway away from town or cities. Lots of land to go for walks around the property , which we explored lots of with our dog and kids. This place is definitely on our list ones to come back to.

Old Dairy 1 - Dog friendly, luxury cottage for two

GeoffRating, 5 stars1 month ago
The bungalow is clean, comfortable and provided all that we needed for a short Easter break. The living area was equipped with all the basics, as well as with free Wi-fi and Netflix, although no other channels were available. The tv was small (32"), especially when seated on the sofa or armchair. During our three night stay, the local Forest School and Oakraven Centre had children attending courses, so there was something of a mini 'Rush hour' in the morning and evening. It was not a problem but required wariness for walkers and opposing traffic in a single track road. The woodland walks locally are good and plentiful, Lorraine providing good guidelines to other attractions and trails. A beautiful area.

Country cottage with private woodland and orchard.

GarethRating, 5 stars5 days ago
Badger’s End was a fabulous cosy cottage equipped with everything we needed. The secret woodland garden at the rear of the property was amazing, very restful and listening to the birdsong was a delight. Carol was a warm and friendly host and her knowledge of the local area was extremely helpful and informative. There are many things to do in the locality, so if you enjoy walking, cycling through the Forest of Dean (Pedalaway to hire bikes was brilliant) & generally love nature & the countryside this is the place for you. We tended to pack ourselves a picnic lunch most days as we enjoy exploring and being out in the open air, but we did eat out a couple of nights at The Ostrich Inn (5 minute drive from the property) and Amici’s Italian (10 minute drive), both were good, but best to book early for The Ostrich if you’re planning to eat there on the weekend. Overall, our stay was excellent and I would highly recommend a stay at this fabulous property. Thank you Carol x

The Bothy Cottage @ Oak Farm

KimRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We’ve stayed in lots of Airbnb places over the years and Oak Farm is up there with the best. We had a fantastic week with Alicia & Chris being excellent and friendly hosts. They went out of their way to make our stay extremely comfortable and they were very generous with their time and the extras they provided. The location is superb with outstanding views across the hills, we spent many happy hours sitting in the Sun loungers reading. It’s also a great location for exploring the wonderful hills around Abergavenny . Our dog loved it too with a secure area of woodland for him to play and explore we would love to return one day and will be recommending this place to our friends and family . Thank you Alicia and Chris.

Charming and quaint - a great place for families to stay near the Cotswolds. We had a few hiccups on our trip due to things out of our control but the host was super kind and did what she could to make it a great experience for us. The cottage is well kept and has good spaces (bathroom was nice and updated as well as the kitchen) and the bedrooms worked great to fit our family. All in all, I'd recommend a stay here!

Absolutely beautiful cottage, very very homely, felt extremely at home and it was 100% clean and tidy! Felt so comfortable! Lovely friendly owners! Always on the end of the phone if needed! Only one thing that could be improved would be the shower, the water pressure is a little weak but other than that there was nothing wrong with this property! 100% would recommend to anyone needing to stay in the area.

Cosy two bedroom cottage with period features.

HayleyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
A really lovely stay. We were very lucky with the weather so got to make to most of the beautiful garden and views which was our favourite part. There's lots of great paths to explore straight from the house. We walked to the dog friendly Red Lion for food through the fields in about 25 minutes. The Fold farm and cafe were definitely also worth a visit for the coffee and cake. I would recommend bringing socks or slippers for in the house as the traditional floors are lovely but cold on the feet.

Leah and family were welcoming and informative, and there's a very helpful guide to all the local amenities you could possibly want. We were thrilled with our stay, and the only down side is that we had to leave!
