Family-friendly vacation rentals in Mýrdalshreppur

While a bit off the beaten path, the cabin was lovely and the views were spectacular! I would love to come back for a week just to stay there and relax. My group was there in May, but I can only imagine how amazing it would be to catch the Northern Lights from this location with the huge picture windows.

The farm is absolutely beautiful with many horses, cows, sheep (it was lambing season!), dogs, and cats. We loved walking around the property and visiting with all of the animals and taking in the gorgeous views. The farm is located about 2.5 miles down a gravel road, which was no problem in our tiny 2WD rental car in May. The house itself is one of about six or seven other tiny home type structures behind the host’s home, all fairly private. My only complaint is the pillows which were rather thin. The property is located about 10-15 minutes from beautiful waterfalls like Seljalandsfoss Gljufrabui.

The most incredible view from anywhere I’ve stayed. The sauna and hot tub amenities are special. Absolutely silent except for the local birds. A very ample great room. Good Internet service. Kitchen very well appointed.

Stunning views and worth the extra drive. I really wish we had booked another night. All the amenities needed to cook breakfast, comfortable beds, and a nice washer/dryer unit.

Wow! What a place! The home was absolutely beautiful. The children loved all the games and toys, and the playhouse bed was something from a dream, as was the bath in the bedroom. It was comfortable and roomy, and in the most peaceful setting. We took a walk to the waterfall down the road as recommended by the host and we're awed. I was very sad to leave this place and move on to the next.

It is a very nice house, clean and tidy, and sometimes you can see the aurora directly from the window, I recommend it 5 stars

We have very perfect stay near to the infamous Crash Airplane and Sejalandfoss. The hist was so nice for everything. We ran out of AD Blue for our car and he sent the guy to help us out. Thanks a lot for your kindness and Hospitality

I highly recommend staying at Eyglo's place. Located in Vik, my favorite town in Iceland, this house has an excellent location -- an easy walk to a beautiful beach. Also a 5-minute walk to a heated pool, with sauna and hot tub. The town is surrounded by dramatic cliffs and the ocean and has a picturesque church in the center. For a small town, it has a large number of restaurants. It is also well located for seeing sites along Iceland's south coast. Eyglo was extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay at her place again if I have the chance.

Wonderful apartment, felt brand new fresh and clean, amazing views!

What an incredible place! Literal steps from Reynisfjara Beach with beautiful views in all directions. You can easily beat other tourists in the morning if you want some alone time on the beach. Very cozy, clean cabin that was exactly as described. We really enjoyed our stay here and would absolutely stay again.

Jon’s place was a fantastic find in a truly serene and beautiful setting. The apartment was impeccably maintained, with everything feeling brand new and thoughtfully equipped — including a dryer, which is a rare and very welcome feature in Iceland. The instructions provided were clear and easy to follow, making check-in and use of the amenities seamless. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return!

Sofia’s cottage was so cozy and peaceful. It was probably my favorite place that I stayed at during my south coast trip. It was clean, had all the essentials, and actually seemed newer than what I saw from the pictures. I wasn’t lucky enough to see them during my stay(too cloudy), but the location of the cottage is ideal for the northern lights! I would definitely stay here again!

Great little place if you want to experience to south coast of Iceland. It has absolute everything you need and is located in a beautiful area. We loved our stay and would come back. :)

Cozy home with gorgeous views!

Not too far off the main highway, this was a great place to stay when exploring south-east Iceland. Was about 30 mins from Vik and an hour to the Diamond Beach and Glacier Lagoon. We had a family of 13 staying in multiple units so it was perfect for that. Everyone got their own personal space but could still get together to socialize. We had a lovely group dinner on one of the decks. One thing to note, if you are there on a Sunday, the closest grocery stores were closed so make sure you have what you need otherwise, you are driving the 50 kms to Vik (I think I may have read that somewhere but forgot ;)
