Vacation rentals with a kayak in Kempsey Shire

We had such a lovely time at Moonie’s! The accommodation was perfect in every way. As soon as you walk in, you feel immediately calm and at peace. The creek is absolutely stunning, full of wildlife and the kayak was so fun for the kids. Two days were not enough! Our hosts were incredibly responsive and helpful, even cooking us two delicious curries. They couldn’t have been more wonderful and accomodating. We will be back!

This was our fourth stay at Misty River Lodge and won’t be our last. My family, including our little Jack Russell Terrier, loves Helen and Craig’s place. I especially love seeing how the gardens have evolved. We enjoy visiting the beaches up and down the coast — Scotts Head is a favourite — and we love to find new places to eat. Coffs Harbour is only a 45 minute drive north and South West Rocks is just 30 minutes south, so it’s a really central location and close to the highway but so quiet and peaceful. The bird song is relaxing and if you’re an early riser, you might even see the local swamp wallaby down near the creek. We were treated to fresh quail eggs, deliciously sweet tomatoes and tasty vegetables from the garden. As Helen said when we arrived… “Welcome home!” … because it does feel like a home away from home.

We absolutely loved staying in the Warder’s cottage. So full of character and such a great location in Arakoon. So much to see and do in the area. Our dogs absolutely loved the cottage too and we are always so grateful to have them with us. My only recommendation would be to bring some insect repellent but the fantastic location makes a few mozzies totally worth it. Thanks for having us Dene, we really hope to be back soon!

Karen was absolutely lovely with us. Our diving plans got cancelled, and since we were continuing our trip up north, we decided to keep moving. We reached out to her to see if we could check in earlier just to shower and do some laundry—and she kindly welcomed us into her home. Although we didn’t end up staying the night, she had everything perfectly prepared for our stay. I’ll definitely be coming back, and without a doubt, I’d stay at her place.

The place was clean, comfortable, and just as described. I traveled with my daughter and our dog, and we all felt right at home. Unfortunately, the heavy rain limited our outdoor activities, but it was still a nice and relaxing escape. The hosts were very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and well-kept spot to unwind!

The place is perfect with a beautiful view of the Kalang river and close to the beach as well. With the kayaks at the property, it was so much fun to paddle around on the river. There is a shell gas station right across the street which makes it easy for any immediate requirement. Overall, my friends and I had a great couple of days. Thanks Sarah!!

5 Stars – A Perfect Stay! We had an absolutely wonderful experience at this Airbnb! From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The place was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The beds was incredibly cozy, the kitchen was fully stocked, and there were thoughtful touches throughout the space that made it feel like home. The host was communicative, friendly, and made check-in a breeze. They provided great local recommendations and were quick to respond to any questions we had. The location was ideal—quiet and peaceful, yet close to everything we wanted to see and do. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again and highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a relaxing and hassle-free stay.

The house is beautiful and clearly well cared for. I have come to Hat Head for over 30 years and rarely have I stayed in such a clean and well loved house. However, the price is a little bit high for the area. The host is polite and responsive. Overall, I loved it. The only reason I am questioning booking it again is due to the price. Definitely would recommend if you can afford it.

It was a great stay on the farm! Peaceful cows, horses, kangaroos and friendly dog :) Had such a nice time of unwind and rejuvenation. Thanks so much for the stay

Beautiful place fresh air, very clean very friendly people and the dog was super cute and very helpful in sharing then fire place. The whole area is very good for dogs it’s very secure

We stayed at Teagan’s place as a stop over to QLD & we’re so glad we found it! The house was spotless on arrival, well equipped and had a really welcoming feel about it. We had our 2 miniature labradoodles with us who thoroughly enjoyed the fenced in backyard & looking out to the river. Thank you for having us in your beautiful home Teagan!

This is the perfect property for a family or small group of friends to stay for a relaxing holiday in Crescent Head. It's walking distance to town, and a handful of steps to the water. Brian is lovely, friendly, and extremely helpful. He's stocked the place with everything you'd need, from kayaks and paddle boards to plenty of kitchen utensils. The beds are really comfortable, too. This place is absolutely brilliant!
