Family-friendly vacation rentals in County Donegal

Grace's house was a real treat! Nestled away in the trees overlooking the river made it feel so private and peaceful. The house itself was so cosy, clean and inviting but had plenty of space and different areas to relax. The grounds were amazing and the kids had a ball discovering the swings, hottub and reading shed. The whole place was magical and we were sad to leave. Grace was very responsive to any communication and made us feel so welcome. The house location was a great base for some of the stunning sights Donegal has to offer and we were very close to many beautiful sandy beaches. This house was the best airbnb we have ever stayed in! We can't wait to come back, thanks so much Grace

We had a lovely week in Milford. Quiet, peaceful surroundings but close to all amenities. Hot tub was great!

Visited here for 5 days and it was a great experience. The place was clean, plenty of room for 4 people and kitted out with all of the essentials we needed for our stay. The location is excellent with plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops, within walking distance. Tricia was attentive and was very good at communicating with us throughout our stay and even dropped in some cupcakes for us. Will heavily consider coming back here when we next visit Ireland.

The place really worth the money. Nice surroundings, half an hour to the beach. Jacuzzi is a bonus! The host very nice and helpful. Really would recommended this place.10 out of 10😊

We had a fantastic time staying at Shelia's place (The Snug). Situated in the quiet village of Dunkineely located between Donegal Town and Killybegs, the accommodation is the ideal base to explore this part of Donegal. The enclosed large garden, which has a wonderful view over the bay, was perfect for our dog Molly. The people of the village were very friendly, there is a Mace 1 min walk away should you need anything and you'll receive a warm welcome (dogs too !!) in Macs Bar if you fancy a pint. We didn't need to contact the host during our stay as we had no problems and everything about the place was perfect. My only complaint is we didn't stay longer. We plan to make a return visit.

Wonderful home,eveything you needed and more. Nice short walk to town where you can get everything you need. Variety of bars and restaurants to choose from. Will certainly stay again if back in area. Communication from Gemma was excellent and Lisa was on hand locally if any question.

Just back from a relaxing break and highly recommend this beautiful place. Noreen and Rory were lovely, down to earth people and i even got to cuddle Rory,s brother,s pet lamb! Our dogs had a blast too with a huge front garden and nearby forest walks and beaches. Will be back for sure. Thanks Noreen, Rory and Bruno their lovely sheepdog!

Patrick was so so helpful and friendly. We had a lovely stay in his beautiful home! It was so spacious, homely, very cosy and a really welcoming space. Lots of games and dvds so we didn’t even need wifi! We had our nearly 2 year old with us and there was so much available for him, Patrick very kindly provided stair gates and a high chair!! There was also a child’s play mat and other games which was class and we made good use of these! Powerful shower. So clean and such amazing views, photos don’t do it justice!! Only a short drive to the village. Patrick was so responsive and a great host! It was our first holiday as a family and our first visit to downings and we will definitely be back! Thanks again!! X

This was a beautiful home. everything you needed was there. House was spotless and clean. The views were beautiful from the house. Shop was just down the road so easy for getting the things we needed for staying at the house. We went to a pub which was a bit of a distance for walking but local taxi services were always on hand and local taxi numbers were available at the house on who to contact as well. All in all a beautiful place to stay and I would highly recommend this house and would go back to stay here if visiting Donegal again.

Johns place is quite simply put a little piece of heaven on earth. If someone asked me where my happy place is, I’d have to say Malin head. The cottage is as Irish as it gets, the land and surrounding beach is stunning, I wish I could wake up every day of my life to that view. John is always so pleasant and helpful, a true gentleman, who is so friendly and helpful. Thanks for hosting us again John, see you next year :)

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. The space is excellent - homely and cosy yet with plenty of room. The open fire is great for cooler evenings. The kitchen is spacious and has everything you need. There’s also a sunroom on the side of the house which is lovely and bright if it’s not warm enough to sit outside. The cottage is close to beautiful beaches and there are a few shops nearby if you need groceries or fuel. We would definitely stay again!

Jill and Alistair could not have been better hosts. From initial booking inquiry through checkout, they were incredibly helpful, responsive, friendly, and went the extra mile without any prompt. Directions to the stay were crystal clear, the property is immaculate, beautiful, private, and well located for the exploration of Finad and all of Donegal. Rathmullan is a wonderful town, and I can not recommend enough a stay with Jill, and Alistair, and especially their wonderful dogs. Alistair was extra helpful in navigating the area, providing recommendations, asking for feedback, and saving a few strokes up at Portsalon Golf Club. If you are looking for a beautiful place to stay well within reach of some of Ireland's most beautiful drives, landmarks, and scenery, this is the place to be. We have travelled quite a bit over the last few years, and this stay was the best we have experienced due to not only location, but the hospitality of Jill and Alistair. A review of 5 stars is too few.

Peaceful hideaway, tucked into the beautiful countryside. Lovely walking from the cottage around the lanes to Murrin Hill and Ballyheirnan beach and easy driving to other places in Donegal. The cottage has seating areas outside where you can catch the sun morning and evening and only hear the sheep, the birds and the bees. We had a really lovely stay here.

Wonderful stay in the country. Easy access to Slieve League, with just a short walk up the road to the lookout. Restaurant an easy walk down the hill for dinner.

We had a great stay in Brian’s house in Ranafast. We were a party of 8 adults, 3 kids and a baby and the house was ideal. Amble space and a well kitted out kitchen. The new playground down the road was a big hit and the proximity to the local beaches and towns was great! Would highly recommend

What a pretty little slice of heaven - the true Irish experience. I’ll never get over the views out the front door as I did my work from the dining room table each day. Maura deserves an extra special shout-out (and hug). I ran into a small snafu my first night in town and she sat with me in the dining room and helped me make some calls until my issue was resolved. In my opinion, that goes way above and beyond the expectations of an Airbnb host. Whether she was around the property or not, she was always responsive. The cottage itself was a dream and within easy driving distance to Malin Head, Giants Causeway, etc. Triple five stars!

Ursula was very kind and understanding of our needs. Our son has special needs so she was very considerate and wanted to make sure he was settled and comfortable in his surroundings. She was a great host and the house was beautiful and so homely. We loved the surroundings, beautiful scenery and a great sized garden with trees, wild flowers and lots of birds singing happily. It made for a lovely, memorable few nights away and our little boy hadn't stopped talking about his trip to Dunfanaghy (Hornhead). I'd highly recommend.

Wir trafen Nuala, sie war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Sie gab sehr gute Tipps. Wir mochten die Kühe und Schafe um uns herum und die Aussicht auf den Strand beim Frühstücken. Das Wetter in Irland war fantastisch, wie immer, wenn wir kommen. Es gab viel zu sehen und zu genießen.

We enjoyed our stay, all of the wonderful recommendations, and watching the sunset from the deck. It’s an easy, short drive to stunning beaches and Glenveagh.

We had a great stay at Helen’s accommodation, my 3 girls and me had plenty of room in the home with a large enough garden to play outside whilst I got ready for our daily adventures. Loads of places to go for nice walks all within very short distance and the large city of Derry was only 40 minutes away for the spectacular Halloween event. My kids loved staying at this warm and cosy home, they slept well and just loved the idea that it was so quiet and peaceful. Definitely will stay here again.
