Just fabulous. A beautiful location, perched on a hillside overlooking a rural Portuguese valley. Lovely house. Ingenious heating system, and lovely, friendly owners! We will be coming back next year and I’m hoping David’s house is still available.

Ines and her mother looked after us incredibly well during our stay. We were welcomed to the property by the friendly face of Ines' mother and she showed us around all of the property and grounds. Once we had the tour and knew where everything was, the hosts vacated the property and left us in privacy. The property is stunning and the pictures truly do not do it justice. The pool was a sun trap, the grounds we beautiful, we even forgot to buy lemons for cocktails but the property even has a lemon and orange tree to solve our problem. There is nothing that this property doesn't have. If it's not there, you don't need it. Thank you so much to everyone at Quinta de Gatao for looking after us. We will be back for sure.

Our stay in this house was really fantastic! The house itself was amazing and offered incredible tranquility. The hostess is one of the friendliest people we have ever met. Upon arrival we could easily park our car in the driveway of the hostess's house. She was so thoughtful in helping us get our luggage to the vacation house. To get to the house, you walk through a beautiful vineyard. This walk is an experience in itself, the surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful. Once we arrived at the cottage, we were treated to an amazing view of the vineyard. The house itself is cozy and comfortably furnished, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is a swimming pool within walking distance of the house, located on a hill. The pool is beautiful, surrounded by nature, and it was wonderful to spend time there with the family. All in all, this house was really a highlight of our first holiday in Portugal. We can recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay!

Abi and Regina are exceptional hosts who made our stay memorable. We especially enjoyed the tour of the animation museum by Abi which was fascinating The property is very lovely, the flower and vegetable gardens are incredible and the whole ambience is very relaxing. A perfect place to stay for several days. We thoroughly recommend staying here and look forward to returning

This place ought to be officially recognized as a national treasure! The house and grounds are full of historic charm and the scenery is spectacular. The farm fresh breakfast was truly impressive and the hospitality was top notch. We stayed for two nights but would have been very happy to have stayed for an entire week if our schedule had allowed for it. Many thanks to the owners for creating such a wonderful guest house and for the warm welcome and great sightseeing tips. It was the highlight of our trip from Canada.

Beautiful farm and house! Being able to wander the farm and pick fresh produce to cook was a highlight. If you’re looking to stay out in the country visiting Amarante, this is wonderful!

Leonel's place is the reason we prefer airbnb to hotels. This little cottage in a little village high up in the mountains above the Douro valley immerses you in the experience - from the breathtaking views to the sound of birds and smells of the fruit trees that surround the house. Leonel, who lives on the property nearby, is the perfect host, extremely generous, friendly and caring he's what all airbnb hosts should aspire to be. If your'e considering visiting the Douro valley and don't mind staying a bit off the beaten path, stay here - you won't regret it!

Surribes was fantastic. It was exactly as it looked in the photos, comfortable and great for a relaxing stay. Rita was a great host, checked us in smoothly and on hand to answer questions. Happy to recommend.

Amazing stay with an even more amazing host🥹. I have to highlight Inês' friendliness and availability from start to finish. The space is exactly what it promises: calm, relaxing and unique! With many nooks to discover, friendly animals, an incredible pool and nature in its purest state! We couldn't find a place that would allow our dog to enter the pool, and Quinta da Emília allowed it and made Joca's experience even better! In addition, we were also able to receive family, including our 2-year-old godson, who also took great advantage of everything the farm has to offer 😊 Ahh! We still "stole" some peaches to bring as a souvenir 🤭 It was amazing and we highly recommend it!!! 😁 A huge thank you to Inês ❤️

Absolutely unique experience. Our first time in a Airbnb tiny house and we loved it. We fell in love with the lemon trees and pony’s/horse. Although pricy, we highly recommend it. A real treat!

Definitely a highlight of our trip!! Stunning location and super friendly and accommodating staff. The wine tour on the property was absolutely beautiful.

Secluded little hut with views of a meadow. Looks exactly as the photos, very clean and has everything you need for a few nights away. Super easy access to Porto via a train 5 minutes away (although we found the ticket machines only accepted cash). A big supermarket is about a 15-minute walk away. Bonus for the projector and the friendliest dog who comes to visit and hang out sometimes! Would absolutely recommend

Everything is perfect! I definitely recommend it! Rosa, the host, was very friendly and helpful. He prepared a delicious sangria and provided us with a lot of privacy. Our dog Yako had a great time playing with your dog, Beny!! The space is quiet, spacious, with beautiful views and a large village to walk through. The house is very well equipped! I would definitely come back. Thank you!!!!

Simply enchanted, all very clean, quiet, the amazing pool area both day and yearite, host and their super communicative, and thoughtful staff. I recommend it with no hesitation.

I spent a glorious month at Maria Celeste’s home. It was simply the best place to reset, connect with nature & rest. I’ve never been to a more peaceful home. Freshly squeezed orange juice (from trees) every morning. Lemons for water. A natural spring to swim off hiking grime. Mountains to climb surrounding the entire home. Lizard & butterfly friends. And so so quiet. Maria Celeste picked me up & drove me to the location. Taxi services available to go to town when needed. I can not recommend staying at this home more. If you need some R’n’R, stay. You won’t regret it.

The whole place is amazing, very quiet and peaceful, good for a nice vacation or a quick getaway! The property is well maintained and there’s a lot of different things to do inside. The host is very nice and really helpful, it was great and we are happy to come back again!

we had a very pleasant week at ana paula's..the environment is beautiful and very quiet...yet it is very easy to access the roads leading to the Douro Valley or to Porto. the house is spacious. ana Paula is always attentive, without being intrusive. we are delighted with our week.

Lise owns a wonderful place in the hills beyond Braga, with a swimmable reservoir (lake) nearby (walkable) and much to discover. The house is as described and we found a very thing workable and clean. Our dogs got on well with her’s and the gardens are huge so they could run around a lot. The swimming pool is great and cold to freshen up, a joint kitchen with adjacent BBQ was used more than once!! All in all, a wonderful find and a really good experience. You are in nature, mind. Phone coverage is sometimes sketchy, and insects may show themselves in garden or occasionally inside, but nothing at all out of what can be expected in such a natural place. Other guests were nice, too, so a bit of social around kitchen or pool (or BBQ) are a definite possibility. We will return happily if the region calls our name next.
